Monster Hunter Iceborne

Capcom’s booth at E3 2019 is all about that massive new Monster Hunter World expansion entitled Iceborne. In front of the booth was a massive dragon from the game, which you could get your picture with. After posing for a quick picture with the dragon, I was off to play Monster Hunter World Iceborne.

Monster Hunter Iceborne – a massive new expansion

Monster Hunter Iceborne takes place at the end of Monster Hunter World’s storyline. It boasts the largest region yet, called Hoarfrost Reach, and the maps are covered with snow and ice. Because of this harsh environment, your stamina is constantly depleting. Though, you can replenish it by taking a sip of a Hot Drink.

And, running through the world in the deep snow has a toll on your stamina as well. However, you can now ride smaller monsters to your destination on the map, which allows you to conserve stamina and make travel a lot faster. I found that this was useful in that it allowed me to travel to places I needed to that that didn’t have a fast travel camp near by.

I played along with 3 other players and our first quest was to find a Banbaro, a new Brute Wyvern in the game. Needless to say, Banbaro’s are no push overs. They have massive antlers that they use while they are charging and make it easy for him to go through large object.

In order to combat these new monsters, Monster Hunter Iceborne have new new movesets and combos to master for your weapons. For example, when using the Dual Baldes there is move in Demon mode that allows you to fire off a quick series of slashes. These are then followed by a lunge forward and then finished off with a Slinger shot.

While I only barley scratched the surface of Monster Hunter Iceborne, what I did play felt really good. It felt every bit as enthralling and magical as the base game. Monster Hunter Iceborne launches September 6, 2019.

  1. The dragon statue looks awesome! I’ve tried a few demos for Monster Hunter, but that’s about it. I do think the games look amazing though!
