Last night Bethesda brought their A game, or should I say games, to the Dolby Theatre in north Hollywood, officially kicking off the E3 2015 press conferences. What a show it was, delivering exciting updates on hugely anticipated games like Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, as well as confirming releases for DOOM and Dishonored 2!
The Pre-show fun
Prior to getting into the conference, I had a nice look at the amazing props that Bethesda filled the Dolby Center with, including my favourite–a lifesize version of Fallout’s iconic Vault Boy (seen in the photo to the right). Bethesda also gave each press conference attendee a huge plastic wristband with LED lights that glowed from red, to blue, to green, all to make us even more excited for the show (as if we already weren’t all PUMPED!)
Next came an breathtakingly impressive line-up of games announced by Bethesda PR head, Pete Hines. Here are the highlights!
DOOM
Available For: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
The Bethesda E3 press conference started out with a (shotgun!) bang, with the announcement of DOOM coming to next-generation consoles, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Developed by id software, the company that pioneered the first-person genre and created multiplayer deathmatch. We were shown two campaign demos, the first taking place on Earth and showing the eye-popping graphics and brutal combat, with the second taking us to the demon’s homeworld of Hell to show us some truly terrifying and grotesque monsters. I think I can speak for everyone at the show when I say our jaws dropped at just how impressiong the game looks.
Dishonored 2
Available For: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
There were murmurs of this game appearing at E3 and now it’s been officially confirmed. The original Dishonored game won numerous “Game of the Year” awards, and now the stealth assassination series is back with an exciting new sequel. In the game you’ll have a choice to play as one of two assassins–Emily Kaldwin or Corvo Attano–who both possess their own unique set of supernatural abilities. Before concluding this session, Bethesda also announced Dishonored The Definitive Edition, which packs the original game and all it’s DLC! The Definitive Edition will be releasing this fall for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Fallout 4
Available For: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC
Following all these game announcements, Hines made a joke that the Bethesda E3 press conference was finished, without of course mentioning Fallout 4–the game everyone there wanted to see. Soon thereafter, Fallout 4’s producer came on stage to show us what’s new, including how the game begins before the nuclear war that caused the series to begin in the first place. Other exciting features include a new building mechanic that lets you not only mod weapons (there are thousands of possible customizations), but also customize your own base. This game is looking hot!
Before concluding their E3 press conference, Bethesda announced that all attendees of the show would be receiving three character figures, one for Doom, Fallout 4, and Dishonored 2, take a look!
It was an amazing event overall, and what a great way to kick off the E3 press conferences!
