Discover or rediscover 51 classic games from around the world

Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics is a compilation of 51 games from a wide variety of genres. Some of my favourites in this compilation include checkers, bowling, spider solitaire, dominoes, darts, and air hockey. In fact, out of the 51 games included, my family and I didn’t find a single one that we didn’t enjoy playing.

Upon starting, you are presented with a home screen that gives you a list of all the games to choose from. There is a Guide Mode that you can choose, which walks you through a selection of games based on categories. It’s a neat way to learn and discover games that you may have not heard about or played before.

Intuitive controls with versatile playing options

Before playing a game, you are greeted with an easy to understand explanation of the rules. And, for those interested, you can learn about the origins of each of the games and some fun facts as well. Controls are simple and intuitive, add to the overall appeal to this collection of games.

You can play alone or with up to three other players locally or online. If you are playing in portable mode on your Switch, some games will use the Joy-Con controllers and others will use the touch screen.

Alternatively, if you are playing in docked mode on your TV, games such as bowling and darts use the motion controls in the Joy-Con controllers. Make sure to tighten the straps on the Joy-Con controllers around your wrists before playing, you don’t want them to go flying off your hands.

Something else that I really liked about Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics are the different ways you can play. You can download a “Guest Edition” from the eShop and connect four consoles wirelessly with just one copy of the game. And, there is a really neat Mosaic Mode, where you place up to four Switch screens side by side to create one big playing field.

A “classic” look and feel to your favourite games

There’s nothing fancy looking about Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics. And, to be honest, I wasn’t really expecting there to be. Though, I was pleasantly surprized with the attention to detail included in many of the games. For example, the wood-grain textures on game boards, and the reflection of the polished floors in bowling. Overall, Nintendo did a great job with recreating the look and feel for each of the games.

And, I was impressed with the effort that was put into creating a cohesive user interface. It truly made it easy to navigate around and find the games that I wanted to play with ease. The background music, when present, is calming. And, all the sounds you’d expect to hear such as the rolling of dice, and the clanging of pool balls has been included.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics as much as I did. This compilation includes a solid lineup of 51 games that my family and I had an absolute blast playing. A good deal of effort has been put into the game’s presentation to make it easy to navigate around and the games enjoyable.

I found the explanation of how to play each game extremely helpful and the facts were neat to learn too. If you are looking for a game that the whole family can enjoy, Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics is yet another game family friendly game on the Switch that I recommend.
