benq home theatre projector 4kHome theatre projectors are one of my favourite technologies. I love going to the movies. Projectors bring that experience into your home to enjoy whenever you want. You can choose to mount it to create a designated theatre room, or you can keep it mobile so one day it’s in the living room for a movie, the next day in the basement for gaming, or in the kids room for a sleep over. Find out for yourself; enter this contest and you might win the amazing BenQ Cinehome 4K UHD HDR home theatre projector.

How amazing is the BenQ 4K projector

This is probably something that many people are wondering. We asked Erin Lawrence, Editor of Home Theatre on the blog and also a veteran of television news with CTV in Calgary, to try this projector and give us her honest opinion.

(NOTE: whenever we send out products for review we expect the writers to give their honest opinion so our customers know what to expect when they get the product to their home.)

In her written review and video review, Erin highly endorsed this projector. Here are some of the highlights of her review:

  1. The picture was amazing, despite her not having a white wall or a projection screen as a backdrop. (She actually projected it onto a blue wall and still she thought the image was great!)
  2. The image was bright, clear and showed accurate, crisp colours, even when the room was brightly lit.
  3. The fan (something that used to drive me crazy on an older projector I once had in my home) was barely noticeable and did not take away from the enjoyment of using this projector.

She also pointed out some of the things that people will consider adding to their home to make the experience even better.

How would you improve your own home theatre experience

Okay so let’s just suppose that you were the winner of this contest. Picture that! Where will you place it in your home? Would you mount it on the ceiling, or keep it mobile so you can move it from room to room?

Importantly, what technology would you need to make the home theatre experience truly complete? I’m not talking about a popcorn maker: that’s a given! Would you be looking to add a projection screen, or would you just choose a white wall (or paint a wall white for this best results). Would you look at getting a surround sound or ATMOS system ?Erin said that the sound from the projector is okay, but your home theatre would be much better with great home theatre audio. Would you add a 4K blu-ray player and start collecting a library of 4K movies to show on this 4K projector?

There are so many possibilities, and I didn’t even talk about home theatre seating. What would you consider adding to your home if you win this amazing projector?

Entering this contest is really easy but you can only enter once. First imagine that you did win this contest (Visualization is the first step toward making something a reality!). 1. I would need a screen or surface that could do this projector justice! I think I would have to invest in a more comfortable couch and a nearby fridge. I’ve already got a receiver and speakers that provide an immersive experience so I am halfway there! A 4K ChromeCast would wrap it up.

  2. Basement is not yet finished but this would a perfect way to start planning for my home theatre room. I would definitely need a full atmos home theatre to go with this.

  3. I would keep it mobile for starters. I have always had a dream, it goes back to my youth of going to the drive in. I want to be able to create an outdoor viewing area so on hot summer nights and a bowl of popcorn, I can set up the screen/wall and watch a movie outside with my kids to give them a similar experience.

  4. I’d add an outdoor kitchen/living area. 😉 We are actually adding an outdoor kitchen/living area this year. I love the idea of doing outdoor movie night. We have surround sound…and we have the perfect outdoor wall. Our own backyard drive-in! 😀

  5. We are about to renovate a space in our home that will be dedicated to a home theatre so this article has really made me think about how to plan it. I know the hubby would love to integrate some sort of surround sound and I want to have some sort of big, comfy seating arrangement but I dont know if I want individual chairs or one large couch. I know if I won this system we would project onto a wall so now I am wondering what can go on that wall when we are not watching something. Does anything really have to? Yikes, so many choices! Thanks for the comprehensive info on the BenQ 4K projector, at least I will have that choice nailed down!

  6. I’m working on finishing my basement at the moment and I think that this amazing projector would be a wonderful addition. My plans for my basement theatre include adding some nice home theatre recliners and a good sound system complete with in-wall and ceiling speakers.

Great review on the projector, it sounds like a great product.

Also, we already have the popcorn maker! That was our first purchase!!

  7. DOLBY ATMOS BABY and i would paint the whole wall white. Would also mount the projector on the ceiling and run the cords through the ceiling. Bigger is better.

  8. I would love to add a 4K blue-ray player and 4K Disney library so I can enjoy the viewing experience with both my kids! I love to see their faces light up when they see their favourite characters come to life right in front of their eyes!

  10. Next think about the things you will need to create a perfect 4K home theatre experience in your home = add kick ass sound system, and comfy new recliners

  11. For me it would be a surround sound system. We have the perfect boring old recroom that we could make into such a great family gathering place to use this!!

  12. For us- a projection screen, surround sound, and a huge sofa with lots of pillows. And our family and friends to all enjoy it.

  13. What I really need is better seats because my old couch isn’t as confortable as it used to be. My answer is therefore the 3-Seats Valencia Verona Black Top Grain Leather Home Theatre Power Recliners.

  14. If I win this projector I would love to add a nice sound system and a screen to complete it. Thanks for the opportunity Best Buy!

  15. Wow great prize for someone. I have subbed to Erin’s reviews and watched it when it came out. Thought it was one good review. I would definitely need to get the motorized projector and a surround sound system to finish the theatre movie experience. Thanks for the chance to win.

  16. WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! Martin, this is insane! (oh yes, I mean this in an awesome way of course) 🙂 You guys are going all out this month for sure. Obviously I speak for ALL of us when i say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! 🙂 🙂 Win or not, you are making us smile and get all “giddy” just thinking about how we can feel winning ANY of these amazing prizes. You guys are the best!!

For me personally…..this one would be so fun! I live in a “Mobile/Manufactured” home…..so just imagining that “up to” 100″ screen? ha ha ha…..it’s almost funny to imagine that on my one wall that I think is SMALLER than that in width 🙂

But the way my living room is right now…….I’ve got some beautiful paintings, etc. on my walls that I wouldn’t want to remove simply for “TV”……….so I would certainly look into a “SCREEN” option that I could drop down from the ceiling 🙂

And I’m just picturing how AWESOME this would be when it comes to playing on my PS4! Even though mine is not the “Pro”……even still…..on a “screen” that size……..in HD detail would be so fully imersive. Wow!

And with my already amazing “Fluance” Surround sound system…….that would certainly just pull me right into the experience. I would be a very happy man….not to mention watching movies like that. Wow! Just wow!

I’m still disabled sadly and basically “home” bound……so the more chances I get of having things that I can enjoy a realistic-like “Escape” to make me feel like I’m experiencing experiences that I can’t do anymore really helps me take my mind off of things a lot of the time. So again, I can just imagine this huge “screen” (for me, a “window” to the world basically…..where really, ANYTHING is possible).

I would look forward to definitly “FLYING” and “DRIVING” and especially anything in “Space”…….wow.

Thank you so much for another incredible chance to win an amazing chance!

Again, you guys are truly awesome for giving away such high quality prizes to us.

All the best…and good luck to all! 🙂

    Scott

    • Hi Scott,

I am so glad that this prize is making some people very happy. I should let you know that we are not done at Best Buy as there will be more amazing prizes coming up this month … keep following the blog.

      Good Luck!
      Martin

  17. hmm surround sound would be needed, perhaps some new theatre seating would top everything off perfectly!n Thanks 🙂

  18. well I already got a large blank wall, but we will need a popcorn maker, some comfy recliners and ofc surround sound.

  19. Actually I already have everything I need for a 4k experience since I have a Sony Atmos receiver+7 large speakers, but everything will need to be completely re-arranged to make room on the wall and the wall painted white or perhaps a pull down screen will be needed. This will be a great addition to my PS4 racing games as I have a racing cockpit which may mean that I need some overhead mounting for the projector; will need to rethink this when I receive my winning projector. Looking forward to winning this great 4k projector!!

  20. We have not had a complete home theater setup in about a decade.
We run everything from our PC’s now and everything is attached to TV’s around the apartment.
The biggest issue with that is No Surround Sound and Terrible TV Speakers.
If I win this, we would definitely be projecting it on the wall I think, and we would also have to look into a good soundbar. Because sound is almost as important image quality when it comes to a great cinematic experience.

    • Hi Ryan, I totally agree with you. A great sound system with this projector would make everything, from sports to scifi more immersive and enjoyable.
      Good luck!
