A few years ago Google rocked my world by releasing the first version of Google Chromecast. I loved it! It turned any television into a smart TV, instantly … and for an amazingly low price. Since then, the whole chromecast ecosystem has become more extensive and useful. I use my original chromecast every day and I can’t wait to try the newest version, now with a great Google TV interface. Read on to learn more and to find out how to enter for a chance to win one.

Chromecast changed TV watching forever

Casting from my phone to my TV still feels magical. I’ve been doing it for several years using a Google Chromecast and it amazes me how easy, effortless, and predictable casting is. Few technologies promise so much from such a tiny device and deliver beyond expectation consistently as well as a Chromecast.

And the Chromecast experience keeps getting better. At first there were only a few things we could cast: Netflix was the most important! Then Prime became available and other apps. This summer I casted NHL games from the CBC sports app. The video and audio were fantastic.

Google improved on perfection with the new Chomecast with Google TV

I rarely use superlatives for the obvious reason that few things are “always” or “never” a certain way. For example, some people say it’s always raining in Vancouver … no, it’s not! However, I can say I am always happy with my Chromecast. I rely on it for almost all of my TV viewing. It’s technology at its best because it does what I expect it to do, every time.

That’s why I can’t wait to try the new Chromecast with Google TV. This new version has a remote that you can talk to via Google Assistant integration. The remote adds more funcationality to Chromecast since you won’t have to use your phone at all if don’t want to. Also new is an interface on the television that simplifies the process of finding series you are watching or new shows you want to watch.   6. I am hooked since the initial release. I had a friend who bought one for me in the US because it was not available to us in Canada. Since the I got the v2 and I am still using that one since it does the job. I’d like to get my hand on the new one ever since I heard about the project Sabrina.

    • Would love to get it for my grandmother that is unable to see anybody because of the situation. We would be able to help her cast pictures and videos on her TV.

  14. I’m waiting to replace my Firestick with the new Chromecast with Google TV for a better integration with my other Google devices. What I love in this version is the integration of google assistant and the new remote. Even if I’m ditching the firestick still will be watching the boys on the new Chromecast 🙂

    • I already downloaded the new Google TV app to added TV Shows and Movies to my Watchlist I just only need the new Chromecast with Google TV to enjoy my favorite content in the best platform.

    • I’ve had pretty much every version of Chromecast since it’s come out. I usually use it with my google home and say “play how to get away with murder on livingroom tv”. Having a Chromecast with Google TV and a remote will be a really nice upgrade and I will use the content aggravating feature often.

  34. I love that the new chromecast can play content both natively and through casting! This opens up alot of streaming possibilities for the big screen. I’d stream some 4k content first!

  37. I have 2 chromecasts, actually 4 if you include chrome cast audio, but this version is a game changer because of the remote. I would like to see the Mandalorian on it.

  41. We don’t own a Chromecast at this time, but based on what is described, the Google TV interface sounds very polished and easy to use. We would watch action flicks through the device like the Avenger movie series.

  48. I have an older tv that isn’t very smart. Kids keep bugging me to get Disney+ I tell them we can’t because tv isn’t able. Looking at this option to stream from tablet or phone. A win here would be a win at home for Dad.

    • I love the Chromecast because it allows you to display your phone screen on your tv screens. If I got it I would definitely be streaming cobra kai!

  50. Chromecast had was able to upgrade old devices and make them somehow new and exciting again. The fact that is open to both android and apple speaks highly of the diversity of apps that can make great of it’s features. I just love it
