Let’s be honest. No matter how old we get, we all have that inner child that needs to come out and play with some toys to help keep us young at heart. As adults, we play in many different ways and in many different forms—from building intricate LEGO sets to going to an escape room or enjoying a monthly game night with one of Hasbro’s classic board games. This holiday season, celebrate your inner child with the children in your life and enter for a chance to win awesome toys for them from WowWee, Kool Karz, Little Buddies, and MIKO.
Why are toys and games important?
Games are how we learn to create social bonds, destress, develop creativity and problem-solving skills, and perhaps most important of all, have fun. We know that play is important for us as adults because we learn these things as children. These days I nurture my inner child by building 3D puzzles and going down slides in playgrounds (when there are no kids around of course), but you can just as easily throw paint at some paper or play a series of harmless pranks on your partner around the house.
Kids’ brains are unique and still forming and so need a lot of stimulation in order to develop neural pathways and thinking patterns that they will use in adulthood. That’s why children cannot just sit still and only do one thing for too long. They need toys to help them catch glowing fairies in a jar or stage a race between Mario and Luigi plushies. This helps develop their imagination, and what is creative thinking in adulthood, if not imagination?
Give your kids the skill of play
All too often we see adults who have forgotten the skill of finding a way to play in their grown up lives. And that’s understandable—responsibilities of life get in the way. But just like taking a vacation or meditating is hugely important and beneficial to our mental health, playing—or to put it another way: doing an activity purely for your own joy and delight, not productivity—is hugely important too.
That’s why we have hobbies! You can make sure your child grows up with the skill of play (and it is a skill because the more you do it, the better you get at it, and the easier it becomes to integrate into your life) by giving them good memories of playing. And if you’re looking for ideas for gifts for the adults in your life this season too, check out our holiday gift guide and give them the gift of play.
With the awesome toys we’re giving away this holiday season, your child could make happy memories of building and racing on unique marble run tracks, talking about their feelings with a robot friend, or loudly yelling Yahtzee! when they roll their dice. The memories of fun play time will be even stronger if you join in with them and engage your own inner child too! Learn more about some of the toys we’re giving away in this contest by checking out our toy reviews on the blog.

I have a nephew that was born earlier this year, he’s too young for video games so at the moment I would be searching the 0-24 months Educational and Learning Toys to find a gift for him!
I would like to win Prize 13 or 14. I think they are both the same. That little robot looks so cool!
Lego!
I would love to win one of the toys in the Riding toys for my two year old sweetie pie that I baby sit for. I purchased him a rider last year and his foster care mom ran over it in error. I’d like to get/win him another one.
We love playing card games and board games and the Lego Mario sets would be a hit in my house. The age 8-13 category fits both my kids ages so that’s a perfect match. I could use a game of yatzee, haven’t played in years.

I posted the contest on twitter at @littlemmm . Thanks so much!
I chose the age 5-7 category for my 5 year old niece. I think she’d like a pretend kitchen in the Activity Centres and Pretend play section. She wanted me to get one for our basement on Thanksgiving.
I’d like to win prize 12 specifically because my 9 year old niece likes the LEGO friends series a lot so Andreas Family House would be perfect for her. I would certainly love to be included and put it together with her, so it would kind of be for me too.
