Ring is my favourite home security manufacturer. I’ve tried many. When my children were young I had a complete Brinks alarm system in my home, which worked fine, but was pricey. Since then, however, smart home products have become the most popular solution due to the low cost, high dependability, and—well let’s face it, smart home products are very cool! Enter this contest and Ring will have your home covered with some great home security products.

What makes Ring really smart

My top 3 favourite things about Ring are the ease of use, the great notifications, and the customer service. Ease of use of the app and the devices is just one really smart thing about Ring. I started adding Ring products to my home on Mayne Island about 15 months ago. They are so easy to install! I now have 2 outdoor security lights; one over the entrance to my carport, and one at the side of the house overlooking the main driveway to the house. I also have a video doorbell at the front door, and one at the backdoor. These work seamlessly with the Ring app on my phone: I can easily switch from one camera to the other at any time to see what is happening at the location. Also, I can activate the external lights on the cameras as I approach my home for personal safety.

Notifications work great and keep improving. When I first started using Ring, I was annoyed that notifications seemed spotty: sometimes the action that triggered the notification was over before the camera started recording. However, Ring keeps improving their app and their products, so that issue is a thing of the past. That brings me to one of the smartest things about Ring: responsive customer service! As I said I have used many different smart home products from many manufacturers, and Ring is probably the best at customer service. Just to be clear, I did not ever present myself to them as the Editor-in-Chief at Best Buy, one day likely to write an article about their products. I just told them that i am Martin, living on a little island off the coast of British Columbia.

Why did I contact them? I made an error (totally my fault) and broke the backing plate of the camera. Within a few days of explaining my problem, I had the part at my home, and the camera was installed in minutes. As I said, great service!

What are your smart home concerns

Why did I go into so much detail about their service? Well, Ring has recently started offering a home security package, with home monitoring of entry points, and keypads, motion detectors—everything you expect from home security. I have not tested this product yet, but given what I’ve learned about Ring, I expect that they will offer great service here as well.

So, tell me what are you looking for to make your home smart? Are you very concerned about the service you get? Perhaps you are most interested in getting some cameras around your home, or smart doorbells, or something else. One thing I forgot to mention is the great subscription package they offer. Most of the main home security companies require a subscription to get the most from their products. I love that with Ring, one very low price covers everything: video storage from all of the devices at your home, and home monitoring if you have their Wireless Home Security Alarm. All of it … one low monthly price. Now that is very smart!

Entering this contest is really easy but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what your most pressing home security concern is, and what Ring product you think would be best suited to resolve that. Instead it might be much larger, so you are looking for something like Ring Home Security to protect your family throughout your home, at all hours of the day.

WHAT YOU CAN WIN

At the end of the contest we will draw 2 winners. One winner will receive the second place prize that includes a Spotlight Cam and a Video Doorbell 2. 1. Ring Wi-Fi Video Doorbell 2 would show that the mail delivery person just drops parcels at the door even when it says signature required

  2. We don’t live in the best neighbourhood and my husband’s laptop was recently stolen. This would be so useful for us!

  3. Have no working doorbell so could certainly use a smart doorbell. Some cameras around the house would help provide a feeling of more security.

  4. There’s nothing worse than listening a noise outside your door during night. Getting outside to find what was it is no good either. I would love to have a Ring Floodlight Cam, so that I could watch it from inside and the lights would make anyone run away.

  5. My biggest home security concern is someone breaking in while my family is home (I have two children under the age of 2 years). I think the Ring Floodlight with Camera would help resolve this as the light may scare trespassers off the property and my husband and I could easily watch the camera system to ensure no one is in or on the property!

  6. Would love to have a feature that would light up my back deck, front entrance way and driveway for added protection. as these areas are very dark and shaded in the evenings. This feature would provide a great peace of mind for me as I am widowed and living alone.

  7. I would love the video doorbell. As we live in Edmonton it get dark very early and without leaving on the outside lights constantly its very scary to go to the door. This would certainly help with safety peace of mind.

  8. Cameras with lights would be nice to monitor what goes on outside at night and to deter people from breaking in

  9. I want to set-up some security at my parents as there has been break ins recently, I find it appealing that the App is straight forward and something my parents would feel comfortable using!

    • The most pressing thing about security is being able to see whos at the door and I think the Ring Wi-Fi Video Doorbell Pro would be great for us

  10. I would like to be able to hear the bell and see who is at the door when I am working in my basement on projects.

  11. I would like to be able to see who is at the door especially when I am in the basement working on my projects and it is difficult to get up the stairs quickly with my bad knees.

  12. biggest concern is knowing what goes on in my house when nobody is home. A security camera would be great

  13. Have had some thievery in the neighborhood. Would love this product to monitor the house and driveway.
Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p IP Camera

  14. I would love a floodlight cam. I live in the bush and leave for work when it is still dark out and bears are common. Having a heads up would be nice before walking out and being nose to nose with yogi 🙂

  15. We don’t like answering the door, especially in the evening so would be good to see who is there. Plus, it will all make us feel safer knowing we are protected by the security cameras.

  16. I would like a camera to see what is moving around outside my house. I think the notification feature would solve this problem.

  17. A video doorbell would be great to keep my family safe and to avoid answering the door when there are salespeople.

  18. Our street lights are too far apart and my house sits in the darkened middle-ground. As a result, I have been wanting to get some motion activated flood lights so the Ring Floodlight Cam – Black would be ideal

  19. Right now we seem to have at least 1-2 car and yard breakin’s in our St James area; so I would sure feel better having a ring and telling them to “GET OFF MY PROPERTY”

  20. Dark yard as we live in the country and my husband works night shift a lot. Security system would be piece of mind for our family.

  21. It would be nice to have the ring doorbell so I could see who is at my door before answering and when packages are left on the front step.
