Ring is my favourite home security manufacturer. I’ve tried many. When my children were young I had a complete Brinks alarm system in my home, which worked fine, but was pricey. Since then, however, smart home products have become the most popular solution due to the low cost, high dependability, and—well let’s face it, smart home products are very cool! Enter this contest and Ring will have your home covered with some great home security products.

What makes Ring really smart

My top 3 favourite things about Ring are the ease of use, the great notifications, and the customer service. Ease of use of the app and the devices is just one really smart thing about Ring. I started adding Ring products to my home on Mayne Island about 15 months ago. They are so easy to install! I now have 2 outdoor security lights; one over the entrance to my carport, and one at the side of the house overlooking the main driveway to the house. I also have a video doorbell at the front door, and one at the backdoor. These work seamlessly with the Ring app on my phone: I can easily switch from one camera to the other at any time to see what is happening at the location. Also, I can activate the external lights on the cameras as I approach my home for personal safety.

Notifications work great and keep improving. When I first started using Ring, I was annoyed that notifications seemed spotty: sometimes the action that triggered the notification was over before the camera started recording. However, Ring keeps improving their app and their products, so that issue is a thing of the past. That brings me to one of the smartest things about Ring: responsive customer service! As I said I have used many different smart home products from many manufacturers, and Ring is probably the best at customer service. Just to be clear, I did not ever present myself to them as the Editor-in-Chief at Best Buy, one day likely to write an article about their products. I just told them that i am Martin, living on a little island off the coast of British Columbia.

Why did I contact them? I made an error (totally my fault) and broke the backing plate of the camera. Within a few days of explaining my problem, I had the part at my home, and the camera was installed in minutes. As I said, great service!

What are your smart home concerns

Why did I go into so much detail about their service? Well, Ring has recently started offering a home security package, with home monitoring of entry points, and keypads, motion detectors—everything you expect from home security. I have not tested this product yet, but given what I’ve learned about Ring, I expect that they will offer great service here as well.

So, tell me what are you looking for to make your home smart? Are you very concerned about the service you get? Perhaps you are most interested in getting some cameras around your home, or smart doorbells, or something else. One thing I forgot to mention is the great subscription package they offer. Most of the main home security companies require a subscription to get the most from their products. I love that with Ring, one very low price covers everything: video storage from all of the devices at your home, and home monitoring if you have their Wireless Home Security Alarm. All of it … one low monthly price. Now that is very smart!

HOW TO ENTER

Entering this contest is really easy but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what your most pressing home security concern is, and what Ring product you think would be best suited to resolve that. Your problem might be a dark driveway, solved by a camera with a light. Instead it might be much larger, so you are looking for something like Ring Home Security to protect your family throughout your home, at all hours of the day.

WHAT YOU CAN WIN

At the end of the contest we will draw 2 winners. One winner will receive the second place prize that includes a Spotlight Cam and a Video Doorbell 2. The other winner will get the grand prize which includes 2 Spotlight Cams, 2 Ring Doorbells (a Video Doorbell 2, and a Video Doorbell Pro), and Ring Alarm Wireless Home Security!

This contest runs from October 12th until October 25th.

Remember you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to add some fantastic Ring smart security products to their home, so please share this contest and they too will have a chance to win one of these prizes.

  1. I’ve had someone break into my car parked in front of my house, and another person brazen enough to steal my potted plants which were right next to the front door. Would be nice to be able to see who’s up to no good here with a front door camera.

  2. We live on a quiet street and we don’t answer the door if we’re not expecting anyone. It would be good to know who’s out there before I open the door.

  3. We live in a rural area, so a wireless spotlight camera would light up the driveway and allow us to see who is coming towards our house before they actually get to the door. Plus, having a light on the driveway may help deter potential intruders and thieves.

  4. I wish I had a Spotlight Cam when some idiot stole the licence plates off my car in the carport but I also would love to have one to see at what time the darn racoons are coming at night to dig up my lawn

  5. We have had furniture and a heater stolen from our deck. A ring Spotlight Cam would be an ideal deterrent and may help lead to an arrest in case of future theft.

  6. We don’t like answering the door, especially in the evening so would be good to see who is there. Plus, it will all make us feel safer knowing we are protected by the security cameras

  7. Our concern is our side door of our garage. It’s a dark area and it worries me because sometimes the kids will leave it unlocked.

  8. We have a long, dark driveway. In fact, someone recently shuffled through our car and stole some things. Keeping an eye on our dog in our big backyard as well.

  9. Our home was broken into while we slept, our vehicle was stolen, as well as many items from inside our home..I have been on edge since this happened and would have peace of mind with a security system.

  10. My driveway could use the Spotlight Cam. It is not very well-lit and because I live alone, I would feel more comfortable with this.

  11. Ensuring that my family is safe from intrusive individuals who may or may not be legitimate representatives of the businesses they often claim to represent.

  12. My driveway could use the Spotlight Cam. We’ve had trouble with people trying to get into our cars overnight.

  13. It’s scary living alone in the city. Taking extra precautions, such as installing smart home productions, would make me feel safer.

  14. I have a young daughter than can answer at the door so a camera would be helpful to know who is ringing. Also, I would like to be able with ring to check on my home while I’m away. Always helpful to activate exterior light from a distance!

  15. My biggest concern is my stuff in the back yard.
I think the Ring Spotlight Wireless Outdoor 1080p IP Camera would help protect it

  16. My biggest safety concern is lack of lighting around my deck and main door. The sensor light doesn’t stay on long enough or will miss you just by walking by. Having the Ring with the light would really put my fears at ease that my family is safe

  17. I would love one of the outdoor cameras! With three little ones, my oldest being autistic, I like to keep an eye on what is going on out front as well as know what is going on outside and who is coming to my door

  18. Knowing who is at my door ahead of time, especially since we are tucked away somewhat, is my most pressing home security concern.

  19. My daughter is afraid to answer the door when she’s home alone, so a video doorbell would bring everyone in the family peace of mind.

  20. I have a handicap, so I am wary of opening the door when someone knocks. Being able to see the person/s would go a long way, as far as security is concerned.

  21. My home is quite isolated would be great to be able to see who’s at the door before I opened it. No price for peace of mind.

  22. The video doorbell would be awesome, Im away from home a fair amount and it really would help give me peace of mind.

  23. Have had some thievery in the neighborhood. Would love this product to monitor the house and driveway.

  24. My most pressing home security concern is someone breaking and entering our home. The ring camera with lights would keep people from breaking in.

  25. I have the video doorbell and it’s amazing. I would love the spotlight cam for my side door for peace of mind when I am not home.

  26. The doorbell & video/light would be excellent for us. We are both seniors and I’m not up to chasing snoopers any more. Our driveway and back yard are dark and we have come home to find people “checking” our back yard. Would love to have a great system like this.

  27. The Ring Floodlight Cam would be great for the dark winter nights. I live next to a park and there is a lot of foot traffic. It would be great to know who is going near the driveway without having to go outside.
