Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage binsā€”animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. We have a bit of a meth problem a little stronger in our area. Twice lately we have had people mistaking our home for another and have very aggressively tried to get in. I would love a camera so we can describe better to 911 who we are dealing with.

  2. I wish to win this for my folks who have had a couple of break ins and really this to show the police th culprits who have targeted the property.

  3. We would love one in the back yard, as several neighbours have pools that back our yard and often times the party extends past their back yards

  4. There have been a few thefts in our area and one parcel went missing from my entrance so I’m always concerned. It would be great to see just what happens in front of my home.

  5. I’d like to have a camera at the front door. We have had so many people stealing and damaging cars. It would make things feel more safer. That’s for sure!

  6. I would love to have this installed in my parents’ home; both the front and back. They live in a nice neighbourhood, but Calgary has been suffering through an economic downtown and a drug epidemic which is causing some crime related to break and enters (including those while people are in their homes). It would make me feel better as they are older.

  7. Living in a rural area leaves us vulnerable to theft when we are away from home. A Defender Camera would certainly be helpful in identifying thieves and/or vandals.

  8. I would like to be able to see the front door and my vehicle in the driveway with a Defender Guard Security Camera.

  9. I would love to be able to keep an eye on my vehicle and our house. I have had my vehicle broken into in the past.

  10. I would like to address security concerns around the front of the house – people stealing our mail/packages & break-ins into the car if I won a Defender camera in this contest.

  11. I’d like to keep a third eye on my bicycles. I don’t know how these people break the lock on my bike which is on my veranda so quietly and quickly that my dog doesn’t even bark…jeepers

  12. I would love a security camera for the driveway, front door, and on the sliding doors of our deck, and thank you for the awesome opportunity to win one which is definitely needed šŸ˜‰

  13. I need to cover the garage and basement areas.
Our neighborhood is mostly retired people. They have had cars and basements broken into recently.
My husband started block watch, but , it is not enough. We need to be pro-active in protecting and guarding our property. This would be a great asset.
Let us be the testers for this product.

  14. I work nights looking after kids with Autism and I’d feel better about being gone all night knowing there’s something keeping an eye open for my family at night.
