Fujifilm Instax Mini link printer photo reviewI’m like a lot of folks, I don’t do much with photos after I’ve taken them. I use them for work, or look back at great vacation snaps now and again, but for all the 30,000 photos on my cloud, I don’t have a lot of actual copies. That’s where a photo printer can play a part. I recently got a chance to review the Fujifilm Instax Mini Link printer. It prints small, glossy photos that you can use to share and enjoy.

Set Up: Fujifilm Instax Mini Link printer

Setting this printer up was a lot easier than the last time I tried a Fujifilm Instax printer. There’s a new app called the Fujifilm instax mini Link app, which appears to be an upgrade from the Instax Share app.

You turn the printer on and follow the instructions, which involves pairing the printer to your phone. It took less than 30 seconds.

Simple printing with Fujifilm Instax Mini Link printer

To print a photo, choose a picture, and then hit print. In about 12 seconds, the photo will pop out and start to develop. It takes just about a minute to fully stabilize; that’s quite fast compared to some other similar technology.

There are a few different printing features with the Mini Link photo printer

You can print a photo from a video frame from right inside the app. That saves you needing to edit it on your phone first.

Fun Mode

You can print photo collages,  create multi-part photo mosaics, and more using the app. There’s also some different frames and art effects too.

Sharing

Up to five people can access and use the printer. The designated owner can give access to friends so anyone can share their shots.

Photo quality: Fujifilm Instax Mini Link printer

I found the photo quality of the Instax prints to be quite good. They’re clear and detailed and look just as good as other more traditional photo prints. There was no blurring, no fading or ghosting and no issues with the sample film pack I used.

The Fujifilm Instax Mini Link printer has a built-in motion sensor, but I’m not really sure what the point of it is. If you turn the printer upside down and press the power button it will reprint your last Instax photo. I guess that’s meant to be a shortcut, but not one I’d ever use.

Film Cost: Fujifilm Instax Mini Link printer

Film for the Fujifilm Instax Mini Link printer comes in 10-packs and is available in colour, black and white and with different coloured paper edges. A pack of 10 costs about $14CAD or about $1.40 per print. This is significantly less than other photo printers (like the Polaroid Lab) which cost about double that.

Overall review : Fujifilm Instax Mini Link printer

Fujifilm Instax Mini link printer photo reviewThere’s a lot to love about this photo printer. It’s small and you can take it anywhere. It fits easily in a bag or purse. It prints fast and develops fast too. The photo quality is great and the prints aren’t too costly.

I don’t really see any downsides to this printer, except if I was being finicky; it does only print one size of photos. But with other options like colour border film, and black and white printing you do have options. I liked using the Fujifilm Instax Mini Link printer and I can recommend it.
