DJI is a brand that is always looking for new ways to upgrade its product line, and they’ve just announced the new DJI Osmo Action 4. It has the same design as the DJI Osmo Action 3, but this upgraded action cam has a bigger sensor, two-sided colour touchscreen, and is waterproof so you can take it biking, hiking, or surfing. There are also a few amazing upgrades that will level up your action photos and video.
Features on the DJI Osmo Action 4

Larger sensor and touchscreen
One of the best upgrades DJI has made for the Osmo Action 4 is the touchscreen. For ease of use, it’s both a front and back colour touchscreen. You can flip it around to adjust your settings or shoot a video. DJI drones have a large sensor for capturing the best photos and video, and now the DJI Osmo Action 4 has a larger sensor too. Coming in at 1 1/3 inches, it’s a significant upgrade over the Osmo Action 3’s 1 1/7 inch sensor.
The DJI Osmo Action 4 can record 4K video at 120p with 10-bit HDR and has a 155° field of view. Photos can be captured at 3,648 x 2,736 with a max of 4:3. The new D-Log M 10-bit colour profile lets you capture photos and videos in over a billion different colours. The camera also has a colour temperature sensor, so everything you shoot with this camera will be bursting with real-to-life colour.
You can zoom in on the action or hit the bumps and everything will be smooth when you’re shooting with the this camera. It has a 2x digital zoom, RockSteady 3.0, and HorizonSteady 360° for stabilization. You can capture horizontal and vertical shots thanks to the HorizonBalancing function. Put it all together and the DJI Osmo Action 4 is a camera that will give you better dynamic range, offers better performance in low light situations, and adds colour depth and shading that’s more real to life than before.
Switch modes while recording
Ease of use is the name of the game with this camera. It has a quick-change button so you can easily switch between different shooting modes, and when you find a setting you love you can save it as a custom setting and switch between that and other modes while recording. The camera also has an InvisiStick feature that can digitally erase your selfie stick.
One thing to note before you use the camera – the camera doesn’t have onboard storage so you’ll need to pick up a microSD card. It also offers compatibility with LightCut, an editing app for both Android and iOS.
Mounts and waterproofing on DJI Osmo Action 4
The DJI Osmo Action 4 is waterproof, so you won’t have to worry about getting it wet or dropping it in water. It can handle depths of 18 meters or 59 feet, and you can go even deeper when you have the waterproof case. It lets you go to 60 meters or 208 feet.
As for mounts, DJI now offers their own chest strap, helmet mount, neck mount, handlebar mount, and bike seat rail mount. They also offer a 60m waterproof case and an all-new Osmo Action 360° wrist strap with a wrist remote to control the camera.
Battery and microphone on DJI Osmo Action 4
The DJI Osmo Action 4 has a rechargeable battery with up to 150 minutes of use per charge. It uses USB-C charging to get you back up and running fast, and it has a quick charge feature that gives you 80% battery life on 18 minutes charge.
The camera has 3 built-in microphones to pick up a range of audio, and it uses wind noise reduction to minimize background noise as you cruise down a trail or hit the water. The microphones also let you use voice control on the camera.
