Many gamers I know either love their gaming chair or lament not having a really good one. Gaming is not an activity you can just get up from every half hour to stretch and reset. An online campaign can last for hours and leaving your seat may not only let your teammates down, but may lead to a huge setback in the game. Some gamers even forego bathroom breaks to secure a victory. You may not be that “hardcore” but you still deserve to game in maximum comfort; and, you would with an AKRacing Gaming chair like the one Best Buy is giving away in this contest.

Your chair matters for gaming

How much time you spend sitting in front of a screen can affect your overall health. AKRacing has years of experience creating seating for a variety of use case. Their gaming chairs are considered some of the best available. They have solid, durable metal frames and cold cure foam that holds fast and secure for a comfortable experience even after hours of first person shooter excitement. This is a premium gaming chair so you know that it will glide wherever you want it to go, in multiple positions, and adjust to suit your needs—all the while remaining silent so your gameplay is not spoiled by the squeaks and squeals often heard from lesser competitors.

Your chair matters for your health

I don’t have to tell gamers what can happen if they spend long hours in an uncomfortable chair. There are many forum discussion online of gamers complaining of back problems, digestive problems, even breathing problems brought on by making a poor seating choice. Most people don’t notice the problems at first; they develop gradually until you get to a point where you ache. Recovery can be slow too. However, you won’t recover if you continue to use the chair that caused the problem in the first place.

The best way to stay healthy is to make healthy choices before you start to ache. This contest is designed to raise awareness of one solution: AKRacing ergonomic chairs. One person will win one to start their journey to better gaming health. It isn’t the only thing gamers should do for better health. In fact, I want you to help gamers across Canada by suggesting ways that gamers can stay healthy. I offer one solution: get an AKRacing ergonomic chair. One way to enter this contest is for you to suggest other ways.

  1. Take a moment between matches, rounds or every 20-30 minutes if possible, to focus your eyes on something in the distance. The far wall, or ideally out the window. Gives your eyes a break from focusing up close.

  2. When you are gaming time flies by faster than you notice. I use a smart speaker to set timers so that I take regular breaks to stretch and drink some water.

  3. Taking a break every 30-60 mins for a walk around and to fill up your water bottle is always a good thing todo during long game sessions.

  4. Stretching is a must, stay hydrated as your body needs water. Don’t snack while playing, get up for a snack, where you can also stretch and take that sip of water. Roll the neck and shoulders. And for Pete’s sake… breath. Taking in deep breaths can re-energize you. You don’t realize how shallow your breathing is when engrossed in something intense. And then last but not least… enjoy.

  5. try to use the office rule of 20-20-20 but also take breaks altogether to be physically active.

  6. Drink water, keep healthy snacks nearby such as fruit and vegetables. Take eye breaks, focus on something in the room far away. Close/blink eyes, use eye drops.

  7. Alternate sitting and standing when you can, and take breaks to get some fresh air and move your body. Your gaming brain functions better when you take care of your body!

  8. Gamers can stay healthy by getting up and stretching, walking around a bit, and staying hydrated. Taking a nap or two would be good also.

  9. To keep healthy while gaming, it’s important to take regular breaks. These breaks should include taking a moment to get fresh air if possible, or at the very least not looking at the screen for a few minutes, and standing up. It’s also important to make sure that while actively gaming, you don’t allow tension to rise too high, and make sure to keep hydrated, and a proper posture. Poor posture (slouching, etc) can cause back pains that are likely to impact every part of your daily life.

  10. Currently I’m using a folding chair with no padding to sit for work and my back is killing me during work and this chair would definitely help me

  11. Not a gamer but do bookkeeping and need to take breaks, have a snack, water, lunch, more fluids. It is important to stand up and keep circulation by walking a bit and leaving computer maybe a fifteen minute break every few hours.
