January is a great month to reassess the tech in your home. Technology makes life better. What tech are you looking for? My wife says we have too much tech in our home, but I don’t agree. I believe we have barely scratched the surface of the tech our home should have. Tech is personal. What new tech are you craving

Our blog is a great place to start looking for the latest technology. This month we learn about many of the new products that will be coming to stores over the next year via the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2018). On the Best Buy blog we have written articles about many of the new things that were announced that we think may arrive in stores this year. There will be new televisions, new smart home cameras, new computers, and much more.

If you are a gamer, you will find review articles on the blog about the latest video games, and descriptive articles about specific components you might need to build a gaming PC. Also you will find many articles about monitors, including the recent one we did about how to set up a 3 monitor gaming display.

3 monitor are better than one, as Steven Hill points out in his article. Even better when the monitors are as amazing as these from ASUS. They have a thin bezel, so your view is almost uninterrupted. They are also curved for a great wraparound experience. I love the scene in the video review (shown in his review article) where he is gaming on that huge display surface. I clipped out an image, but go to the article to see the full review.

As I said, it’s easy to enter. But you can only enter once. First look around your home and assess your 2018 tech needs. Next, in a comment at the bottom of this article, tell us what new tech your home needs in 2018. Perhaps it’s a new TV or maybe a Google Home for voice activation convenience. Be as specific as you want.

  12. I would like to get a tv and DVD player. I have been using a mini portable DVD player for years and I think it’s time to upgrade.

  19. I most need a wonderful laptop this year with things like a gorgeous picture quality, powerful system that never freezes. If I don’t get that though, I will hook up at least one monitor to a laptop I have that has a broken monitor and I hope I can do that successfully because the laptop itself is a little worn down but it still works.   22. At the risk of sounding a little out of touch, my son needs a gaming computer. One with some sort of super-duper graphics cards so he can play a certain game. His friends all get together and have overnight parties where they all play this game. His current system can’t handle it. Oh, yeah, he’s not 12…he’s 18. 😀

  29. I really do need a new computer monitor… or 3. My monitor is at least 10 years old now, it still works but it is small and outdated.

  34. Hi My tech needs keep changing. I am working toward starting an online ministry and everytime I get close something changes. This time instead of finally getting the laptop and video equipment to make a start my wife’s car needs major repair work and our TV died. So my tech needs are a new flat Screen TV anywhere from 40 to 49 inch and a new laptop with at least i7 intel and 1 TB of Hard Drive Space.

  36. Our home could definitely use a good security camera system. The crime rate in our town has shot up in the last few months and I feel like I’d be more at ease. And I know my husband has been eyeballing the Smart TV’s for some time also

  42. I badly need a new gaming monitor. Running with an old TN panel 720p from Dell from 2009 at the moment.

    Upgraded to a new laptop recently and want to get an eGPU to go with it as well as a new monitor!

  45. Quite a few things, but I think the priority is set to build a new computer for my parents so they can skype with my niece outside of Canada while strong enough for normal document editing.

    For myself — a simple chromebook will suffice 🙂 waiting for a good deal.

  48. A Playstation 4, An X Box One controller for my gaming laptop, and a 4K computer monitor are the tech products that I need the most right now.
