Review: The newer and smaller Insteon Hub

0
We’ve covered Insteon products here before, including the original hub last year. This year, Insteon has a new hub that provides the same in-house product support, along with promising easier setup than the original hub.  However, if you’ve already got the old Insteon Hub, and some of the old x10 products that the first one supported, is it worth upgrading to the new hardware?  Read on to find out.

Review: Nintendo takes a trip down memory lane with the NES...

0
With every passing Nintendo gaming generation, it’s not unusual to see original NES titles up for sale in the respective console’s eShop. Usually, however, all you get is the old game itself with no bells and whistles.  The recently released NES Remix disc version (the WiiU games were originally available in the eShop) change things up a bit. You get bits and pieces of these NES games put into objective/challenge form, and a few new twists and turns too.

Wagan Tech IonBoost V8: Perfect portable roadside assistance

0
Can the Wagan Tech Ion Boost V8, a portable emergency roadside kit that claims to jumpstart a dead car battery all on its own, help protect your loved ones? I asked an aircraft structural mechanic to check out the device and give me her professional opinion. What will an engine expert think of the Wagan Tech?  Check out our video test.

Review: The CronusMax lets you use cross controllers to different consoles!

1
It’s a neat concept – Using your Xbox One controller on your PS4, or maybe using your 360 controllers on your Xbox One. As one of the few people out there that still prefer the feel of the Xbox 360 controller to the Xbox One, I was a big fan of this idea as one of the few that prefer the feel of the 360 controller.  The CronusMax is just the device that lets you do that. Come take a look at this powerful little device that’s no bigger than a flash drive.

Review: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker pays respect to a forgotten genre

1
I’m a puzzle game nerd from a young age. I used to rent all the puzzle games I could get my hands on as a kid, and would spend hours in the summer borrowing my neighbour’s Game Boy puzzle carts. In the last decade or so, there haven’t been a lot of games out there that have interested in me, but Braid gave me hope that there was still good left in the puzzle-adventure genre. Nintendo’s Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is another title hoping to do that too.  Let’s take a look.

Review: BenQ 1080p DLP Home Theatre Projector

0
When it comes to projectors, I’m what you would call a rookie. I like to think of myself as tech-savvy, but anytime I’m in a meeting where a projector needs to be set up for a presentation, I defer to my colleagues. When I’m at my parent’s house and my nieces and nephews ask me to put a movie on in Grandpa’s theatre room, I defer to Grandpa. So when I was asked to review the BenQ 1080p DLP Home Theatre Projector (HT1075), I was a little nervous. However, as it turns out, BenQ’s claim that with this projector, “home entertainment is only a push of a button away!” is pretty spot-on.

Review: LEGO Batman 3 goes outside Gotham City Limits into space!

0
LEGO Batman 2 was an interesting game to me.  It wasn’t the most polished title, but featured some of my favorite things in the series yet.  The first LEGO Batman was the first of the line of games I 100%’d, and I definitely remember the summer I spent (having recently been laid off from my job) disposing of baddies in between my job search.  The third game is here now, and I was hoping for a lot of the same.  Does it deliver?  Let’s take a look.

Galaxy Alpha Review: Samsung’s Best-Looking Smartphone a Compact Performer

0
Samsung makes the world’s the best-selling Android flagship smartphone in the Galaxy S5, but not everyone is a fan of the device. Among the most frequent complaints are its large size and its all-plastic design. Samsung was obviously listening because the Galaxy Alpha addresses both of those issues with a premium metal-framed body and compact design. The Galaxy Alpha is Samsung’s best-looking smartphone to date, yet still offers a high performance Android experience.

Review: HD Everio Quad Proof all weather video camera – Rugged...

0
I have always been a big fan of GoPro cameras – well the Everio Quad Proof video camera is sort of the GoPro of “camcorders.” Unlike the GoPro, which has a separate case that makes it waterproof, the Everio Quad Proof camera is so durable that the camera as it is can go underwater, in snow, dust storms, and won’t get damaged if it is accidentally dropped. A great camera for all you outdoorsy types that don’t want the elements to prevent you from getting the perfect shot. I had a chance to test drive one and here’s what I found.

Review: Audio-Technica Professional Stereo Turntable

0
I was pretty excited to review this Audio Technica turntable, as it was a good opportunity to digitize some of my older classic vinyl records. This turntable is also a higher quality machine that is full of the features that I was looking for. It has a lot of flexibility since you can digitize LPs, play them through a receiver, a computer or directly through speakers. It also has DJ capabilities to create a lot of special effects, whether you are a DJ or not.
