What should you look for when buying a dash cam like the many offered by Nextbase? Perhaps you want some protection for you and your family while driving at the lowest price. What are you looking for in a dash cam?

I personally don’t own a dash cam. It’s not that I don’t care about the advantages they offer, I just haven’t got around to buying one yet. But if I was, I would want something in the middle of the Nextbase series: probably a 322GW or 422GW. Perhaps it’s that the review done by Dave Neufeld was extremely persuasive? Or somehow it resonated with me in a way the other Nextbase articles have not. After all, I think all the writers did a great job examining the different models and clearly explaining what they liked and did not like about each: pros and cons. I think what is more likely is that I just like the 422GW most because I feel it’s right for me in a way that I can’t quite explain.

Nextbase keeps raising the bar on what a dash cam can do

Not that I am averse to perfection. I have not seen the new model that was just announced today, the 622GW; nor have I sent it for review—Nextbase haven’t sent me samples yet. But judging from the specifications and features, it is a step above the rest. The features include an impressively clear 4K image at 30 fps, image stabilization, and Amazon Alexa built in. I love that if you are involved in an accident, this dash cam will register the most recent footage as high priority and not let it get recorded over.

  1. I have several things that I consider in looking for a dashcam. I would have to say video quality and image stabilization are on the top of my list. I also find it a very much welcome addition to have Alexa built in as that would greatly improve the handsfree functionality of the device. That being said, I am definitely liking the new 622GW model.

  6. I work evening and night shifts so I definitely need the night vision provided in the 422GW and 522GW models. While both have similar specifications, I prefer the 522GW model since it’s got a larger screen. I also like that it’s equipped with other smart features that would connect to my phone.

  11. I’ve never owned a dash cam so I’m not sure which features would come in most handy. From the review, I think clarity, anti-glare and decent night vision would be top of my list. We do a lot of our driving at night. these cameras are packed with so many good features though! The 622GW is my favourite, but the 522GW sounds just as impressive.

  26. The features I absolutely need in a dash cam? Top of the line with all the bells and whistles.. Which Nextbase model is my favourite? Model 522GW of course!

    For me the 622GW would be a for its enhanced features.

  31. The night vision is going to be very useful, but I also like the 911 emergency sos system, especially with our teen driver.

  35. From my experience Nextbase is probably one of the best brands out there. I would love to win the top model 622GW 4K with all the options and the BEST NIGHT VISION OUT THERE TODAY. Then again I would be happy with the Nextbase 322GW and the WIFI option, which I don’t have right now. 🙂

  36. Night Vision and image stabilization would be the top features for me. So I’d go with the Nextbase 622GW.

  38. The night vision is a good feature and one i would not have thought of this when looking for a dash cam. The 140-degree viewing angle is an important feature. The 522GW looks llike a great product! 🙂

  39. Hi. With everything going on, I think a dash cam is a MUST HAve ITEM. Night vision is extremely important and the Nextbase 622GW 4K dash cam would offer enhanced vision for night driving. If I had had this I would not have hit some plastic bins that had been blown onto the highway and went under my car with damage charge of $5,000. The Nextbase 622GW 4K dash cam would have helped me on this very dark road.

  43. The best image quality is of utmost important to me so my pick would be the Nextbase 622GW 4K dash cam, it also doesn’t hurt that it is loaded with smart features

  50. I definitely need good video quality 🙂 so I’d have to say the 622GW 4K dash cam looks to be perfect.
