Your perfect refrigerator should have the right style, the right features—and the right fit. A few quick measurements before you buy can save you time, stress, and costly surprises. Use this guide to ensure your new fridge fits your kitchen and your delivery path.
Measure the delivery path
The narrowest pathway must be at least 1 inch wider than the width or depth (whichever is smaller) of your refrigerator.

Doorways
Measure every doorway your new refrigerator will have to fit through, including the front door and elevator (if applicable).

Cut-out Kitchen
Be sure to account for decorative features such as baseboard moulding, crown moulding, trim, etc.

Ventilation and Cleaning Room
Measure for at least 1 inch of extra room at the top and back so it has proper ventilation and you can slide it out easily to clean dust.
Door opening clearance
Measure for refrigerator door clearance + 1 inch to ensure doors will be able to swing fully open.

French Doors
Divide the width of the refrigerator by 2 and measure each side.

Kitchen Island
If your refrigerator is in front of an island, be sure you have enough space to open the doors.

Door Hinge Room
If there isn’t 2 inches of space on the door hinge side(s), the refrigerator will need to be pulled out about 2 inches so the door can open.
