Bosch washing machineBosch is a brand that’s been around for a long, long time. Founded in the 1800’s, the company has been designing appliances that focus on style, lower power consumption, and high quality since 1933. They’ve been established in Canada for a long time too, and have been a fixture in Ontario since 1954.

Bosch isn’t just well known in Canada. The appliance division of Bosch is a leader in Europe, and there’s no better example of that than the German-engineered washer and dryer combos. When it comes to washing clothes you can’t make a better choice, and each laundry pair is the perfect combo of high-end tech and cutting edge design.

Because they’re German-engineered, there’s something you should know about Bosch washers: they have European plugs. That means when you first take a look at a Bosch washer, you might be scratching your head about how to plug it in.

bosch-front-loadersMost of us, if not all, have a standard 120V plug in for our washing machine and a 240V outlet for our dryer. When you bring home a Bosch washing machine, you’ll immediately notice that you can’t plug the washing machine straight into your washing machine outlet. That’s because the slightly oversized three prong outlet doesn’t match up.

This would definitely have left me wondering what to do, but the solution is really simple. There’s no need to call in an electrician to rewire your laundry room because the Bosch washing machine plugs straight into the Bosch dryer, and the dryer plugs into the standard 240V dryer outlet.

bosch plug in from washer to dryerThat will leave you with one plug not used in your laundry room, and that’s why it’s recommended when you purchase a Bosch washing machine, you always buy the dryer at the same time.

Anyone who’s had a Bosch laundry pair knows that the quality can’t be matched, and if you’re in the market for a washer and dryer pair or you need to replace your Bosch washer, take a look at these models available right now on Best Buy.

It might be compact, but this Bosch front loader thinks big. It can hold up to 15.4 lb of clothes and has a large viewing window in the large door so you can easily load and unload your clothes.

Along with the 15 wash cycles to find the best fit for each load, the water in the Bosch front loader also heats up to 145 degrees so you know that residual germs and allergens will be flushed away. Because it has SpeedPerfect technology, your laundry is done 40% faster than other washing machines, and it even has ActiveWater Management to reduce your electricity and water use. It’s quiet too, with an EcoSilence motor and AVS anti-vibration to minimize sound.

Plug your Bosch high efficiency washing machine straight into the Bosch dryer and you’ll experience a laundry pair that will make you love washing clothes again.

It’s compact like the Bosch washing machine, but the Bosch dryer can easily dry up to 16 towels in a single load. That’s pretty much every towel in my house. Even more surprising about this dryer is that it requires no ducting or blower. It releases all of the condensation through the water drain so you don’t need the ducting installed in your laundry room.

With 15 dry cycles and intelligent sensors, you’ll never have to worry about your clothes over heating, and the dryer door is reversible so you can put it on the side that’s most convenient in your laundry room.

Those are just two of the washer and dryers available from Bosch, and as you can see, there’s a lot to be excited about when it comes to these Bosch appliances. Take a look at all of the Bosch washers and Bosch dryers available on Best Buy right now.

  1. The replies here are ridiculous!!
“Throw away the washer or buy the dryer as well!” – yeah right!

Get a dryer cord (220V) and replace the washer cord with it – that’s it!
If you don’t know how to do it, get someone that can do it.

If you had the dryer already but it broke, you don’t even have to buy a cord – get the one from the dryer and voila!

  2. My stackable compact washer has a different kind of plug – the two flat ones go horizontal and the outlet is vertical. How do you make them fit?

    • Hi Margaret,

I sent you question to the appliance team at Best Buy’s head office and they replied:

Bosch has designed their laundry so the Bosch washers plug into the Bosch dryer, then the dryer plugs into the wall and powers both units.

If the customer does not have a Bosch dryer then they will not be able to plug it into the outlet in their home. Unfortunately there isn’t an easy solution to this, and something we have continuously been working on communicating with the Bosch laundry solutions.

      best regards,
      Martin

    • I have the same question. I bought a set of Bosch washer and dryer. The dryer is now broke and it costs too much to repair it but the washer is still good. But I can’t use the washer because it’s plugged directly to the dryer. This is a bad design as if the dryer is out, you can’t use the washer. I’ve been looking for several weeks trying to find the wall outlet for the washer but no luck. I am thinking to give away the washer. No more German stuff for this Texan woman!

      • Hi Maria,

I have sent your situation to the appliance team at Best Buy Canada’s head office. I understand your frustration. These appliances are designed to work together, and the washer needs to plug into the dryer. There does not seem to be an easy work-around.

    • Hi Gail,

The appliance team at Best Buy’s head office sent this reply:

The only way the washer could work in a Canadian outlet without the dryer, would be if the customer had an electrician convert their outlet to a European-style outlet.

      take care,
      Martin

  3. Chlorine free bleach is more environmentally friendly, just as effective and doesnt have that obnoxious smell.
Im wondering if chlorine free bleach warps rubber and dries it ourt causing it to crack…I know regular bleach does….so be aware of this and dont over do it.
