CES 2018 is almost in the books for another year, and from everything I’ve seen so far, there’s going to be a lot of great choices for anyone in the market for new appliances this year.
I’ve recapped how LG is adding LG SmartThinQ to all of their appliances, giving each and every one AI and voice command options. Samsung revamped their Family Hub refrigerator and have added a new platform for their own appliances to communicate, and now Whirlpool and Bosch have also announced new appliances you’ll want to take a look at.
Whirlpool Smart Front-Control Range
If refrigerators have LCD screens and can walk you through a recipe, there’s no reason why your oven shouldn’t do the same thing. Or, at least, that’s what Whirlpool thinks, and they’ve just announced a new addition to their lineup of internet-connected new appliances: the Whirlpool Smart Front-Control Range.
The range itself will do everything you’d expect a high-end range to do, but it’s also got a few Wi-Fi related perks. Whirlpool has integrated the recipe app Yummly so you can choose a recipe on the range and it will automatically know how to pre-heat, cook, and turn itself off when it’s finished.
Yummly will even work with your Whirlpool range to send you notifications when it’s time to start cooking, and it can also turn the range down to keep your food warm if you’re not ready to eat yet. Plus, you’ll also be able to control your Whirlpool range with your voice. Both Google Assistant and Alexa will be available with this range.
Bosch reveals black stainless steel and a laundry tricorder
Black stainless has taken the top spot in terms of kitchen appliance finishes, and Bosch has jumped into the world of black stainless with an entire suite of nine appliances including a black stainless dishwasher, wall oven, microwave, refrigerator, and range.
For Bosch, black stainless isn’t just a pretty cover for their new appliances; it’s a way to keep your appliances looking new for years to come. They’ve used a unique material that safeguards against fingerprints and scratches, and that means you don’t have to clean your appliances as often as you normally would.
Bosch has also introduced other new appliances including the Bosch Ascenta Dishwasher line. Along with an award winning dishwasher, you get a third rack, ultra-quiet operation, and a new mini rack inside.
There’s also the Bosch X-Spect Laundry Prototype. If you’re a fan of Star Trek, you’ll love that this prototype has been described as a kind of tricorder. Just wave it over your stained clothes and it will use sensors to analyze the fabric and the stain, then recommend the best way to clean your clothes using your Bosch washing machine and dryer.
You’ll even be able to use the X-Spect with food, because it analyzes what you put in front of it and lets you know calorie content or whether or not it’s past it’s fresh date.
There’s been a lot of amazing new appliances announced at CES 2018 this past week, so if you’re looking for new appliances, keep an eye out for Bosch and Whirlpool’s latest releases at some point this year.
