The Devolver Digital Showcase is always a treat, offering up great games with a unique twist in the presentations’ format. This year the Devolver went all-in with parodying the multitude of gaming services out there with the Devolver Max Pass +. It’s a totally free, fictional subscription service where you have to pay for each separate game. As the team explains, “a completely free subscription service that offers the entire Devolver Digital catalog – including all future titles – as exclusive, premium purchases.” With tongue firmly planted in cheek Devolver Digital offered up a very impressive lineup with a great diversity in gaming genres.
Below are all of the announcements from the rollercoaster ride of a show:
Trek To Yomi
In Trek To Yomi you play as Hiroki a lone samurai who vows to protect his village from multiple external threats. The grainy black and white visual style is a beautiful homage to classic film director Akira Kurosawa. In the 2.5D side scroller you must voyage beyond life and death to confront personal demons and decide on your path forward. I can’t wait to play through this beautiful adventure, it’s coming to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC in 2022.
Shadow Warrior 3
The latest trailer for Shadow Warrior 3 was an adrenaline-soaked thrill ride. The offbeat first-person features fast-paced gunplay, brutal melee combat, and free-running mechanics. The wild adventure is slated to blast onto the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2021.
Devolver Digital’s Wizard With A Gun
It’s time to trade in that magic wand for a gun!? Wizard with a Gun is an online cooperative sandbox survival game set in a magical wilderness. You’ll forge for your own weapons as you build a fantastical arsenal that will grow so powerful it will make Harry Potter jealous. Can you wield your magic and keep the forces of evil at bay? Wizard With A Gun is slated to arrive on the Nintendo Switch and PC in 2022.
Inscryption
Prepare yourself for a mind-bending experience with this card-based adventure that blends the deckbuilding roguelike, escape-room style puzzles, and psychological horror. It’s quite the macabre mix that just oozes character with its artistic style. Inscryption is coming to a PC near you later this year, shuffle that deck if you dare.
Devolver Digital Knocking at Death’s Door
Reaping souls of the dead and punching a clock might get monotonous but it’s honest work for a Crow. The job gets lively when your assigned soul is stolen, and you must track down a desperate thief to a realm untouched by death – where creatures grow far past their expiry and overflow with greed and power. You can go knocking at Death’s Door on July 20th on Xbox Series S | X, Xbox One and PC on July 20th. Coincidentally, the game launches on my birthday I don’t know whether to be excited to freaked out by this omen. Either way, you better believe I’ll be checking this out day 1!

Anyone else think the Devolver logo looks like the Beavertails logo?
There were some cool games in this presentation. Wizard with a Gun looks like it will be a lot of fun!
Thanks Matthew!
Great article, thanks for highlighting the tongue and cheek announcement already saw some misinformation on twitter
I’m at the point where a game really has to stand out either stylistically or by adding in some novel gameplay features that haven’t really been used much before.
Inscryption looks like a really cool blend of various genres I’m interested in – card games and puzzles
Trek To Yomi, however, caught my eye – stylistically it draws me in – if the story can do the same, I’m sold :).
