Raycon Everyday speaker

Smartphones have become the portable jukebox of our lives. We use them to stream our favourite playlists and watch movies and TV shows with others. If that sounds like you, I think investing in a portable Bluetooth speaker will enhance your mobile listening experience.

Today I’m reviewing the Raycon Everyday waterproof Bluetooth wireless speaker. It’s small, lightweight, and extremely portable. With a name like that, does it hold up to everyday use? Let’s find out by first taking a quick look at the specs.

Notable specs: Raycon Everyday speaker

  • Bluetooth 5.0 technology
  • Built-in mic for hands-free calling
  • 11 hours of battery life
  • Multi-link mode to pair with another speaker

Design of the Raycon Everyday speaker

The Raycon Everyday speaker is extremely compact, measuring approximately 6”x8”x3” (WHD). It weighs just a little over a half-pound and is constructed with hard plastic with a durable fabric mesh on the front and back.

On the top you’ll find the following buttons: Power On/Sound Profiles, Volume Down, Play/Multi-link, and Volume Up. A USB charging port is located on the side with a LED Indicator button below. The other side has a fabric loop to clip it to a carabiner. Underneath are two rubber pads that grip it to a flat surface. The pads prevent the speaker from moving around from heavy bass vibrations.

The Everyday Speaker is incredibly lightweight, portable, and impressively durable. It has an IPX7 water resistance rating. That means it can be submerged up to 1 meter in water for 30 minutes. It’s also dust-proof making it the perfect addition at the beach or during camping trips.

With a total of 11 hours of playtime, users can easily clip it to a belt loop for long hikes or on a backpack for on-the-go listening. Now I’m starting to understand why they called it the Everyday speaker.

Pairing the Raycon Everyday speaker

This Bluetooth speaker is incredibly easy to use. After holding the power button for four seconds, a group of female singers sings “Raycon”. From there, a female voice prompt indicates the Bluetooth connection status.

Automatically pairs when you turn it on

Pairing to my smartphone was a breeze. It uses Bluetooth 5.0 so the connection was secure and reliable. After pairing my smartphone, it would automatically pair every time I turned it on. This makes it quick and easy to move from your smartphone to the Raycon Everyday speaker. During sporadic, day-to-day use, this becomes a super important feature.

Another thing I always look for in Bluetooth speakers is multi-device pairing. I tried to connect both my smartphone and laptop at the same time, but to no avail. This tells me that it does not support multi-device pairing. If you want to connect another device, you’ll have to first unpair the first device. Hopefully, with Bluetooth 6, multi-device pairing will become the defacto standard.

Using the Raycon Everyday speaker

This speaker is simple and intuitive to use. When you consider the size and price point, the overall sound profile is good. It really depends on which of the three sound profiles you choose.

Switch between three sound profiles

Pressing the button switches between Balanced Sound, Bass Sound, and Pure Sound. I preferred the Balanced Sound profile. I could hear slight distortion with the Bass Sound profile. The Pure Sound profile accentuates the highs. Toggle between the three to find the profile that you like. If you listen to a wide variety of music like I do, the Balanced Sound profile is your best bet.

By looking at the design of the speaker, you assume the sound comes equally from the front and back sides. However, I can report that is not the case. By putting it close to my ear, I could definitely hear the speaker on one side and not the other. Despite looking like a 360-degree sound speaker, it has a front speaker so speaker placement is key.

Connect multiple Raycon speakers with multi-link mode

The Multi-link button on the top allows users to connect multiple speakers together. Unfortunately, I only had one speaker so I couldn’t test out this feature. I’m also not sure how many speakers can be connected together.

This is important information because the Everyday speaker is super affordable. If it can connect to more than one speaker, it might be an economic solution for an at-home multi-room speaker setup. Imagine having an old tablet mounted to the wall with a bunch of Everyday speakers in various rooms connected to it. Hopefully, I’ll be able to test this out in the future.

Charging the Raycon Everyday speaker

To achieve an IPX7 water resistance rating, the USB-C charging port has a rubber cover that fits snugly in place. Once released, the cover hangs in place. The speaker charges with a standard 5V charger. It does not come with a charging block but a USB-C cable is included.

Users can also charge directly from a computer or a power bank. When charging, the LED indicator will blink red. Once it is fully charged, the LED indicator will turn off. You should get approximately 11 hours of battery life per single charge.

Final thoughts on Raycon Everyday speaker

Anyone can benefit from a portable Bluetooth speaker. It’s a great way to listen to music, podcasts, and enhance the viewing experience of movies and TV shows on mobile devices. Still, not everyone is willing to pay a lot for this convenience.

The Raycon Everyday speaker is a speaker for everyday use and comes in at an extremely low price point. This is not a speaker for audiophiles. It’s for the everyday person gardening in the backyard or listening to a podcast while walking through the trails. If someone calls, the built-in mics automatically turn it into a speakerphone.

Considering its price point, I was surprised to see multi-link capabilities. In fact, I think Raycon should bundle two speakers together in one package. Even then, it will still be more affordable than a lot of other portable Bluetooth speakers on the market.

If you consider yourself an everyday person, with everyday listening habits, then I highly recommend you check out the Raycon Everyday speaker. It’s affordable, durable, and gets the job done. That’s exactly what the everyday person needs.
