Home theatre projectors are one of my favourite technologies. I love going to the movies. Projectors bring that experience into your home to enjoy whenever you want. You can choose to mount it to create a designated theatre room, or you can keep it mobile so one day it’s in the living room for a movie, the next day in the basement for gaming, or in the kids room for a sleep over. Find out for yourself; enter this contest and you might win the amazing BenQ Cinehome 4K UHD HDR home theatre projector.
How amazing is the BenQ 4K projector
This is probably something that many people are wondering. We asked Erin Lawrence, Editor of Home Theatre on the blog and also a veteran of television news with CTV in Calgary, to try this projector and give us her honest opinion.
(NOTE: whenever we send out products for review we expect the writers to give their honest opinion so our customers know what to expect when they get the product to their home.)
In her written review and video review, Erin highly endorsed this projector. Here are some of the highlights of her review:
- The picture was amazing, despite her not having a white wall or a projection screen as a backdrop. (She actually projected it onto a blue wall and still she thought the image was great!)
- The image was bright, clear and showed accurate, crisp colours, even when the room was brightly lit.
- The fan (something that used to drive me crazy on an older projector I once had in my home) was barely noticeable and did not take away from the enjoyment of using this projector.
She also pointed out some of the things that people will consider adding to their home to make the experience even better.
How would you improve your own home theatre experience
Okay so let’s just suppose that you were the winner of this contest. Picture that! Where will you place it in your home? Would you mount it on the ceiling, or keep it mobile so you can move it from room to room?
Importantly, what technology would you need to make the home theatre experience truly complete? I’m not talking about a popcorn maker: that’s a given! Would you be looking to add a projection screen, or would you just choose a white wall (or paint a wall white for this best results). Would you look at getting a surround sound or ATMOS system ?Erin said that the sound from the projector is okay, but your home theatre would be much better with great home theatre audio. Would you add a 4K blu-ray player and start collecting a library of 4K movies to show on this 4K projector?
There are so many possibilities, and I didn’t even talk about home theatre seating. What would you consider adding to your home if you win this amazing projector?
HOW TO ENTER
Entering this contest is really easy but you can only enter once. First imagine that you did win this contest (Visualization is the first step toward making something a reality!). Next think about the things you will need to create a perfect 4K home theatre experience in your home. I listed some possibilities above. I would buy extra seating so that we can watch movies with at least 10 other people!
I would add a popcorn maker
I would add a projection screen and bluetooth speakers to create a surround sound system.
With the perfect basement wall in mind (once I fill in some holes and gives it a fresh coat of paint), I’d add surround sound and move some furniture around, creating a great place for movies, movies and more movies (…and sports).
I would definitely add a 4K bluray player and a collection of 4K dvds
Thanks!
Popcorn machine, my kids would love having a movie night at home.
Speakers, remote light control, projection screen, Wii U Console, Nintendo Switch Console, CPU, laptop, hdmi cables, TV box, and more
Our house really is probably too small to full enjoy this now, so I think the #1 thing we’d need is a new home!
Haha– since that’s not really in the cards at the moment, we’ll need a small surround sound system and a new blu-ray player for our den. Maybe some new curtains and new paint on the walls in that room. And a bigger coffee table for drinks and snacks.
Bluetooth speakers, so I can improve sound quality, while keeping it mobile.
To make the home theater experience , a projection screen would need to be added to the theater room. However the room where it would be going gets a lot of natural light. Some type of window covering would be needed to keep the light off the screen , ensuring that all viewing angles are perfect. The last thing that I would add to complete the room is family whats movie night without the ones we love the most.
I would have add a popcorn maker, because no movie is can be watched without popcorn, and then add the surround sound to make it perfect
A Seymour screen!
First of all a good theatre room needs good mood control so I would get some smart led bulbs to be able to change the color to one that suited the movie and as it is in projection room the brightness set to a minimum. secondly I’d go with surround sound speakers probably bluetooth as well as to not need any wires going everywhere.
My dream is to upgrade my 5.2.2 Dolby Atmos setup with a 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos using a Denon AVR-6400h receiver! A dbox couch/chairs or buttkickers to to shake things up even more!!!
I would love to add a good overhead lighting system to enjoy fully
It would be awesome to set up an outside theater projecting onto my parents barn.
I would buy a Xbox One(from Best Buy of course) and use the projector to play video games in beautiful 4k!
I would paint a theatre wall, get rid of my outdated TV and purchase a home theatre system.
nice leather home theater seats, Dolby Atmos Stereo receiver, Xbox 1X
Automatic light controls synchronised with the projector and screen would be a dream.
well… painting one wall white to start !! a ceiling mount … and a new blue ray player … then a new sofa ..
i would add the speaker
A surround sound system would be the first choice.
I think surround sound and big plush chairs would be the ultimate experience.
A new BluRay player would be in order.
I would have to have a screen or a white wall and of course surround sound as well.
would have to have a surround sound system
A screen for sure, probably a sound system too. Theater style seating?
I would love to turn our basement into a movie room for us and the kids. We’d need some lounge chairs and to spruce it all up a bit first.
Nice set of speakers
I’d have to add a surround sound with heavy bass. And projector screen, popcorn make must come as well!
I would add a robot that hand feeds me hot-dogs and nachos.
Surround sound would be a must.
If ever i win this Benq projector, all i need to add in this gadget will be a 120″ manual white screen projector and a Denon 7.1 dolby atmos with 4K capability home theater amplifier complete with speakers.
I would need a 100 inch projection screen and a couple of Stress-less reclining chairs.
I would add a Playstation 4 Pro to play “big”time videogames with my friends! Definitely would add more swivel rocking chairs from the 60s to be comfy all day and night!
I would connect it to my stereo get a screen and then have my friends over to watch the Wold Cup games and enjoy the big screen experience !
I would add a Klipsch surround sound system, a large projection screen and a very comfortable couch.
I would love to create a backyard movie theater
Probably need some BBQ chicken
I would add a screen, a surround sound system, a big comfy leather sectional with dual recliners, lots of cozy blankets, and a popcorn machine! Family movie nights will be epic!
I’ll get an 11.2 home theatre receiver
i would add a disco ball, coloured flashing lights and have myself a one person paaartay!!!
I will paint my basement wall with a projector screen paint.
A nice couch and mood lighting with a few sorround sound speakers .
Winning this would be awesome. Definitely would need to get a nice projection screen and a new home theatre system.
I would add a comfy recliner
