You can choose to mount it to create a designated theatre room, or you can keep it mobile so one day it’s in the living room for a movie, the next day in the basement for gaming, or in the kids room for a sleep over. How amazing is the BenQ 4K projector

This is probably something that many people are wondering. We asked Erin Lawrence, Editor of Home Theatre on the blog and also a veteran of television news with CTV in Calgary, to try this projector and give us her honest opinion.

In her written review and video review, Erin highly endorsed this projector. Here are some of the highlights of her review:

  1. The picture was amazing, despite her not having a white wall or a projection screen as a backdrop. (She actually projected it onto a blue wall and still she thought the image was great!)
  2. The image was bright, clear and showed accurate, crisp colours, even when the room was brightly lit.
  3. The fan (something that used to drive me crazy on an older projector I once had in my home) was barely noticeable and did not take away from the enjoyment of using this projector.

She also pointed out some of the things that people will consider adding to their home to make the experience even better.

How would you improve your own home theatre experience

Okay so let’s just suppose that you were the winner of this contest. Picture that! Where will you place it in your home? Would you mount it on the ceiling, or keep it mobile so you can move it from room to room?

Importantly, what technology would you need to make the home theatre experience truly complete? I’m not talking about a popcorn maker: that’s a given! Would you be looking to add a projection screen, or would you just choose a white wall (or paint a wall white for this best results). Would you look at getting a surround sound or ATMOS system ?Erin said that the sound from the projector is okay, but your home theatre would be much better with great home theatre audio. Would you add a 4K blu-ray player and start collecting a library of 4K movies to show on this 4K projector?

There are so many possibilities, and I didn’t even talk about home theatre seating. What would you consider adding to your home if you win this amazing projector?

  11. I used to own a BenQ HT1075 – it was a great projector. I would be very excited to see the BenQ 4K model in action. I would definitely add some new speakers to my home theatre and a 4K Blu ray player, of course.

  12. I recently lost my Mom, but luckily I have quite a few videos of her speaking at events, winning awards, and chatting with family. I have been sharing them with family and friends on my 19” TV. I can think of nothing better than winning this BenQ projector and watching her again, larger than life, which she truly was.

I would add anything I could to make it feel like I was in the movie theater, Couple recliners, ATMOS system, 4K UHD Wi-Fi Blu-ray Player and of course lots of 4k movies to enjoy on the BenQ CineHome Projector. Which I would keep mobile to move from room to room, maybe have a portable Tripod Projector Screen on hand if I ever wanted to take it in my backyard during summer for my daughter and her friends to have a movie camp out night under the stars!. Thanks for the chance 🙂

  22. If I won this BenQ 4K HDR home theatre Projector I would definitely add some surround sound, a great set of speakers would enhance the experience. I’d rearrange the furniture a bit so we can project it on our huge white wall in the living room. I prefer watching movies at home vs. theatre so this would be the best!

  25. First thing to add would be a great surround system and proper projection screen. After that comfy recliners and more 4K sources 🙂

  26. I would start with a ceiling mount to properly mount it. I would continue with a proper HDMI cable. To play the 4K blu rays, I would get a Xbox One X, as well as games and re-stock my blu ray collection with the 4k equivalents. I would also get a big projection screen to make sure I take full advantage of the 4k resolution. Possibly even a new sofa in the man Cave?? I don’t see why not.

  27. I would love to replace old projector with 4K image for the whole family to enjoy! 100″ screen is ready – just waiting for the new 4K BenQ projector.

  29. I have a very nice 4K TV in my living room connected to a stereo amplifier. I would LOVE to install this in my basement and add a multi-channel receiver/speakers that supports Dolby Atmos and DTS-X.

  35. This would be absolutely amazing and perfect for my husband! the thing is we bought our house 2 years ago and it came with a projector. No projection screen just the projector. So my husband bought a projector screen and shortly after that the actual projector broke. So we have the screen already. The other thing we would love to add would be speakers and a couple recliners 🙂

  38. I would love to experience this BenQ 4K HDR home theatre Projector from Best Buy! In a perfect World I would enjoy it on a large, portable screen that could go in the family room during the colder months; and into the backyard with blankets and pillows for fun, outdoors movie nights in the Summer. Of course we would need to shop Best Buy for a movie quality laptop, surround sound speakers, and other technology needs. Wouldn’t that be a fun, family date night to plan? We could even get your neighbours involved. For this dream we might have to upgrade from the Nostalgia popcorn maker, right to the Centerstage Professional Machine. What awesome memories that would be!

  41. I would like to add speakers, surround sound would be awesome, also a projection screen as I have a wall full of smoked mirrors where the tv sits.

  50. My old samsung home theatre system won’t play blue ray or dvds anymore and speakers have started crackling . Would love a new home theatre system to replace it and watch some old home movies.
