A few years ago Google rocked my world by releasing the first version of Google Chromecast. I loved it! It turned any television into a smart TV, instantly … and for an amazingly low price. Since then, the whole chromecast ecosystem has become more extensive and useful. I use my original chromecast every day and I can’t wait to try the newest version, now with a great Google TV interface. Read on to learn more and to find out how to enter for a chance to win one.

Chromecast changed TV watching forever

Casting from my phone to my TV still feels magical. I’ve been doing it for several years using a Google Chromecast and it amazes me how easy, effortless, and predictable casting is. Few technologies promise so much from such a tiny device and deliver beyond expectation consistently as well as a Chromecast.

And the Chromecast experience keeps getting better. At first there were only a few things we could cast: Netflix was the most important! Then Prime became available and other apps. This summer I casted NHL games from the CBC sports app. The video and audio were fantastic.

Google improved on perfection with the new Chomecast with Google TV

I rarely use superlatives for the obvious reason that few things are “always” or “never” a certain way. For example, some people say it’s always raining in Vancouver … no, it’s not! However, I can say I am always happy with my Chromecast. I rely on it for almost all of my TV viewing. It’s technology at its best because it does what I expect it to do, every time.

That’s why I can’t wait to try the new Chromecast with Google TV. This new version has a remote that you can talk to via Google Assistant integration. The remote adds more funcationality to Chromecast since you won’t have to use your phone at all if don’t want to. Also new is an interface on the television that simplifies the process of finding series you are watching or new shows you want to watch. You can read more about the new features of this device on this announcement article we posted on the blog a couple weeks ago.

I love what Google has done with Chromecast and can’t wait to find out how this new device will improve in the future. If you too want to be one of the first to own the new Google Chromecast, enter this contest for a chance to win.

  1. I always been a fan of Google on TV from the first (complicated) Android TV devices and then all upgrades of the Chromecast family. Got my hand of all update, giving my older devices to friends. I love streaming form my phone app to Chromecast, but I always wished for a remote when I want to pause or rewind a program and my phone is locked. Arrgh! Now I’m learning that the new Chromecast HAS a remote! How cool is that! I really want to win that Google Chromecast with Google TV!

  2. Awesome! Will replace my old Nexus Player which is starting to have problems with anything higher than 1080p (and an old remote that’s on its last legs)

  3. The Chromecast, since purchasing one years ago, has been nothing short of amazing. It has transformed the way we consumer media on our TV and has brought about the demise of set top boxes in our household. We can, in essence, play pretty much anything we can open on our phone onto our TV and the device itself is extremely portable, meaning it can be taken of vacation or during business trips (of course, less valid during the pandemic).

I’ve always thought that a remote would be an excellent addition to the Chromecast experience. Now we’ve got that, and more. Consider me very impressed with this new Chromecast iteration. Good job Google!

  4. I’ve had a first generation chromecast since it first launched. my family and I love to cast youtube videos all the time but best of all we cast out family photos from one of the phones and scroll through! If love to have a newer version and test out the remote!

  5. Have an original Chromecast and it’s very convenient but can be slow at times – time for an upgrade. The new menu, remote and Google TV definitely make this a contender for best streaming device.

  6. I love how I could summon my best mini to play my favorite shows on Netflix and YouTube. I used to recommend all my friends looking to upgrade their TVs to have smart features to use Chromecast. The updated Google TV with remote makes it All the more better.

  8. I love that the Chromecast has flexibly to cast your own content from your phone along with streaming services.

  9. My favorite thing about the chrome cast is the quick speeds and how you can connect your phone to your tv I also love that you can control it with your Google home it makes it much more accessible if you don’t have your phone with you

  10. I’ve had Chromecast since generation 1 and that one is still used and working on spare tv.
The gen 2 ran cooler and signal seemed stronger.

Looking forward to the new Chromecast based on reviews and this blog chat.

A remote and not needing phone is nice.
We don’t have a smart tv (old but great plasma) so Chromecast is still so useful

  12. I like the new interface with things from all sources.
Will be easier to see Disney and Netflix in one place

  13. I love being able to mirror what’s on my screen to the tv with a press of a button, it makes sharing photos and vlogs so much easier with family and friends. First thing I’d stream would be a Rocky marathon!

  14. I love Google streaming and I can’t wait to build the ultimate watchlist without having to change between my apps!

  15. The Chromecast, considering the price, is imo the best v1 gadget of the last ten years. The remote takes it to a new level.

  16. I love how seamlessly you can cast from literally any streaming service! I am planning to hookup the Chromecast with Google TV with both, my non-smart and smart TVs, so that I don’t have to switch between apps if I’m watching content from different streaming services! I can’t wait to watch Mirzapur Season 2 on Prime Video

  17. I’ve had the original Chromecast since release, and its saved me from purchasing and actual ‘smart tv’. Amazing product, but this would make streaming Netflix and Prime Video even better.

  18. I can’t wait to cast Cyberpunk 2077 thru Stadia! Until Stadia streaming is available on the New Chromecast, I’ll be streaming The Office episodes on repeat like I have been for years and years and years and…

  19. I have the first version. I always liked how it turns ny TV into a smart TV. I cant wait to watch Avengers Endgame on it.

  20. I dont have one but I have had an android box that didn’t work so I would love to finally have one that does work and easy to use. That would be amazing. I would have loads of things to catch up on.
