Working from home

It’s safe to say that for many of us returning to our once-regular routine this fall will be a brand new experience. Whether you are working from home or heading back to school, you’re likely facing new and unique challenges. In these unprecedented times, Best Buy can help ease the burden with safe shopping solutions for all the latest tech to keep your home office, school, or dorm room running smoothly.

Staying productive

As we encounter new roadblocks at work and school, the key to success will be finding ways to stay productive. Luckily there are a number of handy tech solutions that can help ensure you are able to maximize your time and efficiency.

Working from homePrinters and scanners

Somebody on social media recently noted that nobody under the age of 40 actually owns a printer anymore. They assert that the millennial generation has been “appropriating” the printing/copying/scanning amenities at their office the entire time. Honestly, this may not be far from the truth!

Case in point: an all-in-one printer was my first purchase within days of working from home. It’s certainly funny how quickly this becomes an absolute essential when visiting the office isn’t an option.

It easily sits at the top of the list of must-have technology for students as well. For many, access to libraries or other common area printers and scanners is currently in short supply. Having the ability to print, copy and scan your own documents is a huge benefit to keeping productive.

PC monitors

In today’s electronic working and learning environments, multi-tasking is a must. Having enough screen space to work with is key to productivity. If you are working from home or leaving for school with a laptop or older screen, you may find the size just doesn’t cut it.

PC and laptop users have a few options to bolster their virtual real estate. Large or ultra-wide monitors offers a vast display for viewing multiple applications at once. Conversely, a multiple monitor setup like this one can easily double or triple the amount of screen space available to you.

Working from homeAudio solutions

Has your home office become a hub for the clash between work and family life? Or perhaps the communal nature of college dorm life is compelling you to frequently share space with neighbors and roommates. A great pair of noise-cancelling headphones can be the difference between bedlam and blissful serenity!

Laptops

If you are heading off to school for the first time, or simply looking for a way to convert a home office, a new laptop can be just the tool to deliver effective productivity and learning without taking up a large amount of space. Choose between something portable and energy efficient for dorm life away from home, or a more powerful unit like these gaming laptops for taking on resource-intensive tasks (or for enjoying some leisure time when work is done)!

Office and gaming furniture

If you’re going to be spending more time working from home or studying in your dorm, comfort is essential. This might be the perfect time to upgrade your chair or desk to something more spacious or comfortable. Long hours of poor posture or cramping conditions can have long-term negative effects.

Communication and mobility

Working from homeStaying in touch with co-workers and classmates is more important now than ever. When working from home or studying in virtual classrooms, keeping the discussion rolling is key to efficiency and success. Avoid a costly breakdown in communication with the latest in mobile tech.

Best Buy has the latest and greatest models of cell phones from both Apple as well as your favourite Android manufacturers. You can choose from options including plans from all the major carriers, or opt for something from a vast selection of unlocked phones. Either way, a powerful mobile device will help you stay in touch and perform tasks without concern for outdated functionality or dropped calls.

You may also consider a tablet or iPad as a hybrid solution for both productivity and mobility. With wi-fi and cellular connectivity, quality cameras, and impressive processing power, these devices truly blur the line between computing ability and communication tool.

Working from homeEntertainment and recreation

It can’t be hard work all the time. Staying sharp and effective means making time for a bit of relaxation as well. Avoid burning out with these options to add some fun and games to your home office or dorm.

Cinematic PC monitors

Having a large display isn’t just a boon for workplace or learning productivity. If you plan to double-down by using your dorm or home office for work and play, a great screen can provide endless entertainment once your obligations are met.

Having a 4K resolution monitor means that when you’re ready to shift into relaxation mode you’ll get impressive, high quality visuals whether you’re streaming a recent Hollywood blockbuster or playing the latest graphically-stunning video games. Furthermore, if true immersion is your idea of amazing entertainment, you may want to consider the captivating visual experience of an ultrawide curved-screen monitor.

Working from homeTake a break with Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch may just be the perfect console to compliment your back to school or working from home lifestyle. Its portable functionality means you can take it with you wherever you go. Yet the Switch can still deliver a big screen solution for games and streaming when in docked mode. Either way, the console itself is minimal and won’t tax your limited space!

  1. These are some great ideas for working from home, but my big problem would be that I would with working from home is that I would be too distracted by the possibly of playing Switch or watching Netflix or Disney+. It would be way to easy for me to get nothing done.

  2. most important device is the coffee warmer! it’s great that your coffee cools off cuz you’re getting work done instead of drinking it, but the only thing worse for morale than that cup of cold java is trudging to the kitchen to reheat it in the microwave: arrgghh gross .. get a coffee warmer and enjoy being productive with consistently hot coffee: ahhh ☕

    • I love this! A simple solution to a problem we all have. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to drink lukewarm or (shudder) cold coffee.

  3. I always feel behind on tech, computer is old and slow, cell phone is over 10 years old. Clearly you need a massive amount of money to stay current 🙂 I enjoyed reading what is possible.

  4. I hooked my large monitor up to my laptop so I could use it to see everything better having to be on my computer for 8 hours or more each day. It’s been the vest thing to avoid sore eyes or headaches. Especially since I don’t have a printer so if helps when I have to review spreadsheets or documents or work on budgets
