Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. Where I live, there seems to be more crime happening all the time, more break-ins, more theft in general. Having a Defender camera would certainly bring me some peace of mind!

  2. I’m a single mother living in a rural area and it would be comforting go have the ability to look outside without having to open the door. Especially at night.

  3. I would set this up at my mom’s house for her to be able to see who is at the door without having to get up.

  4. There are so many property thefts now that it would be comforting to have a security camera. I know they don’t prevent thefts, but perhaps they make a difference in catching the thief after the fact. There is always the hope that a thief will be detered by a security camera.

  5. I’ve woken up to someone trying to enter my backyard, had my vehicles broken into.. I guess I just want to feel secure, and right now, I don’t.

  6. Hi, I’ve already had my car ripped into twice, 2 large light up pumpkins stolen and a couple shovels taken… I need my front door area watched I do believe.

  7. I would like to monitor our front door area for our package deliveries, plus our backyard patio door area.
We had a break-in in our home several years ago, so this security system would be great for peace of mind.

  8. I would like to monitor my drive way, front porch and sidewalk to document any antisocial activity.

  9. I would like to keep an eye on the front and back door, in case of possible theft and also bear activity

  10. My house is at the end of a street which ends right beside the highway. Twice we have experienced break ins at the side door in the backyard. I would use these cameras to keep an eye on the backyard to prevent them from happening in the future.

  11. I’d like to keep an eye on traffic in our small complex. We have some uncertain visitors at times!

  12. I have a corner home and always susceptible to break-ins, cars running red lights and other unsavory infractions. Would love to use it to record any footage for any of my neighbours who might experience the same thing!

  13. I’m concerned about bears or skunks getting into my bird feeder and then harming the cat or dog. Also about vehicles that show up when I’m not home!

  14. We have a home 650 kms away from where we live and work. It would give us security knowing the house is protected. Also when we stay at the house I often leave on business and my wife is home alone making it even more important to have security.

  15. I would like to be able to see who is outside my door without answering it. Lots of door to door scammers in my area. Just like our landline has call display, I get to choose if I answer or not. Most times not…lol.

  16. I have had a car stolen from my driveway, this security system would be a great way to keep watch all day and everyday for possible thieves.

  17. In the past few years, we had unwanted visitors break into our vehicles in our neighbourhood for a few days. This security system would come in handy!

  18. This would be perfect for the front door. My husband is always buying things online (but sleeps throughout the day as he works midnights). I’m always afraid parcels are going to go missing.

  19. Safety and video proof of break-ins, and theft that is occurring in my neighborhood. As well as car vandalism that happened to me numerous times with no proof.

    Thank you for the opportunity.
