Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. Id like to keep an eye on who comes and goes as there’s a pyromaniac on the loose responsible for a few houses burning to the ground in the neighborhood.

  2. I need security as my home is backed onto a open field, and we are also having problems of people walking and allowing their pets to do their business on my lawn and gardens. So I need proof before action can be taken. And also security for the home itself would be great as there are now many solicitors. Seniors in the home also, so added protection would be beneficial for us.

  3. Need a new camera for the backdoor, and backyard . …make sure nobody is taking my prize winning blue ribbon carrots from the garden!!

  4. I want to know when the elk are invading my garden and when anyone is coming around when we are not home.

  5. We’ve had a lot of thefts in the neighbourhood lately. It would be nice to be able to keep a eye on our property. Garage and vehicles and shed.

  6. I would love to win so that I am able to see who is at the front door before answering. Thank you for this chance to win and good luck to everyone who enters.

  7. Would be good to know that both windows and doors are secure. The security system would give me peace of mind knowing everything is okay. Thanks for the opportunity. Good luck everyone.

  8. Hello Best Buy,
If we win the security camera it will be installed at the east corner of our home to monitor the front and rear entrance ways to ensure our safety. There are numerous break-ins and home invasions in the area, as seniors an added level of security will bring peace of mind and in the unfortunate circumstance we are targeted will provide useful evidence to law enforcement agencies. Thank you for the opportunity.
    Best regards,
    Toni-Marie

  9. My main security concerns are in my backyard. I have a detached garage and walking from the garage to the house when it is dark is a bit scary. Would love to have a security in the backyard.

  10. we have a travel trailer in the driveway that we like to keep an eye on and if people are parking in our blvd spots.

  11. We live across from a park which at night time tends to have some nefarious going on’s. I don’t want that to spill over onto my porch.

  12. My main security concern is when I leave my house to head to the cottage. Would be nice to have some eyes watching while we’re away.

  13. Husband working out of town, can be scary being home alone especially when the dogs bark at “nothing” in the middle of the night.
