Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. well we have had some lurkers in our neighbour hood so i would like to have camera to keep an eye out if something should go missing

  2. Security concerns around my house tend to be bears as I live in the bush. The ability to see them on the camera before heading to my truck would be amazing.

  3. I would use this at my front door to monitor who comes onto my property, my packages and who my son has here when we are not around

  4. I don’t like being home alone after dark so I would really love to own this for the front door.driveway and back deck area.

  5. There have been a number of break ins in our area as of late, and we’re always looking for ways to ensure our home is safer.

  6. We have had a number of break ins in the neighbourhood and would like to prevent one at our house. Having the monitor would deter them.

  7. The biggest concern on my end is having delivery people show up without identification (badges, shirts, etc). Would like to be able to document that!

  8. i would you this to see who is entering the premises of my home. i have young kids so i want to make sure they are safe!

  9. We would like extra security for our detached garage which opens onto a back lane. We keep our bikes, skis and tools in the garage and it currently has no security system. A wireless system would be perfect for a garage.

  10. I’d like to have a camera around the front door – especially in case packages come to the door so no one takes them!

  11. I had an unlucky run of bi-annual pre-Christmas robberies (first a break-and-enter at my home, then my car) but, thankfully, it’s been a few years since I’ve broken free from that pattern. This would address my concerns as a single Mom with only a Garfield-like guard cat protecting our home.

  12. Besides security for our home by seeing the front and back door entryways, I would love to see the wildlife that are in my backyard
