At CES 2022, big announcements from Toucan were not only to expand into their suite of smart home products, but bring new technology into the work from home space as well.
Many of us have been working from home for nearly two years now, and with our workplaces shifting to hybrid models or full work from home, we need technology that can adapt to these changing needs. The Toucan Connect Video Conference product line provides some new technological solutions for working from home and virtual office models.
First, there’s the Toucan Stream Webcam. This very compact webcam features 1080p output with an 89 degree field of vision and is essentially plug and play with a USB-C cable. It features flexible mounting options as well. You can either use the included universal monitor mount, or attach it to a tripod instead.
Then there’s the portable Toucan SC100 Video Conference Speaker. This is something that could be used at home or even in a small group conference setting. It’s a cylindrical speaker that sits out on a table (and connects via Bluetooth or USB) and features 4 echo-canceling microphones (to pick up sound from any direction,) a a 5 watt speaker, a USB port (to connect a webcam or USB drive) and plug and play capabilities.
If you’re looking for a little of both, however, there’s the Toucan Video Conference HD. This essentially combines the best of both worlds and features a 4-microphone speaker along with a removable webcam. Like the other products, the Video Conference System is compact and has an extremely small footprint for your desk or a table top.
The entire line of Toucan Connect will be available starting next month.
Toucan is typically known for their Smart Home products and delivered a new addition to their product line. A brand new Security Light Camera will be coming out shortly to accompany upgraded editions of some of their existing products.
The Security Light Camera is a new offering from the company, featuring Radar motion detection and super bright and vibrant 1200 lumen light. Other security features include a 110dB siren and attached speaker, two-way audio, 1920×1080 HD video with full Night Vision, and IP56 Weather Resistance. While this new Security Light Camera is not wire-free like their standard security cameras, it features a long weather resistant cord, Wi-Fi Playback and 24/7 monitoring capabilities. On this camera, you will also get the ability to look back for up to 24 hours on any captured events for free, with more time available through Toucan’s Cloud Storage solution for $3 US per month.
If you are in the market to upgrade your existing Toucan products, or buy new ones for the first time, a reminder that enhanced versions of their Wireless Doorbell and Indoor/Outdoor Security Cameras are now available (A review of the previous generation is available here.
The doorbell and cameras both come with an extra large 6500 mAh battery, which should offer you lengthy periods of time between charges. As always, your mileage will vary depending on how often you have activity within capture range of your devices.
Just like the Toucan Connect line, everything will be available starting next month. All Toucan Smart Home products connect easily to the accompanying apps available for download through the iOS or Android App stores.
