Take a look at all of our editor picks for our 12 Days of Christmas series.
12 Days of Christmas: Day 6 is Epiphone electric guitars
Les Paul Special I
This barebones Les Paul Special I is an excellent starting point for learning the instrument. It’s also a great way of supplementing a growing collection—especially if the guitarist in question doesn’t have a 2 humbucker, fixed bridge guitar. Although it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of some of the more decorated options out there, it’s a very reliable and good feeling guitar. I reviewed this model a few months ago, and you can read it here.
Les Paul Special II Plus Top
This Les Paul Special II is a very pretty alternative to the Special I. Thanks to an added maple cap on top of the body—and a translucent finish, you get a very elegant guitar that seems more expensive than it really is. There are four different colours in total that you can choose from. You can read my full review here for more information.
Les Paul Bundle
Both of these models are available as bundles at Best Buy. The package includes a cable and the very versatile Cube 10 by Roland. This amplifier is great for beginners because it’s packed with features such as three different amp types and onboard effects. It even has a headphone output for silent practice—perfect for a full household. No need for any other purchases thanks to a 1/4 inch cable that’s included to connect your guitar. If you’re shopping for a totally new player, this is a great package to consider.
Other options
Epiphone has many other models that mirror its parent company—Gibson’s, legendary choices. For example, if you are shopping for an AC/DC fan, look no further than the SG. There are also multiple choices of Les Paul models that mimic (even more) the original, such as the Standard, Classic, and Studio. For a more eccentric option, you could opt for the awesome looking Flying V or Firebird. Last but not least, Epiphone has cherished arch-top models such as the Casino. This model in particular is widespread and beloved by many guitarists around the world.
The guitar is an excellent place to start learning music. If you are shopping for someone who already plays, you probably know full well that this is a great hobby that also brings joy to others. This Christmas, consider an Epiphone Electric Guitar for the musically inclined on your list.
