When I was young, and was given a Segway Ninebot scooter I would have been on it from morning to night. The fact is, some technologies can make your life better, even young peoples. My wife would likely argue that point with me saying something like, “they just need to out in the fresh air, rather than inside playing video games.” To which I would counter, this is the kind of tech that would motivate many kids to get outside. There are many other great reasons for entering this contest that I’ll explore before explaining how to enter to win a Segway Ninebot eKickScooter and helmet.
Can technology help our children to live better
There is a lot of talk these days about the challenges that our children are now facing because of improving technology. It’s not quite the “rise of the machines” as foretold by James Cameron but, for some, it’s getting close to that. I’m on the other side of the fence on the issue of “is AI good for us or not.” I think it will bring many benefits. Yes, there will be adjustments to make, but I’m a unapologetic optimist about this things. A teacher might say, “my children are using it to write their essays,” and I can certainly sympathize with that since my wife is a teacher. However, I would counter that teachers are smart and they’ll adapt to ensure the work created by the student is their own.
Just like AI is appearing all over the place, so are the newest form of transportation: escooters and ebikes—they’re everywhere! And for good reason, too. Wondering where you can purchase one? Best Buy has many types online and if you read this recent article you’ll learn which Best Buy stores have the best selection.
The benefits of escooters for kids
To help you understand how the proliferation of escooters is a good thing for our children, I have asked the newest generative AI to help me out by suggesting 10 benefits of escooters for children. So here why the machines want you to get your kid a machine (well another machine as they likely already have a smart phone).
- Increased Outdoor Activity: as I already stated in the introduction, your child will want to spend more time outdoors, promoting physical activity and reducing screen time.
- Improved Coordination and Balance: Riding an electric scooter requires balance and hand-eye coordination. Regular practice will enhance these skills in a fun, engaging manner.
- Explore the Neighbourhood: An electric scooter will give your child a sense of independence to explore their local area. This can help them understand their community better and cultivate curiosity about the world around them.
- Develop Responsibility: Owning and maintaining an electric scooter teaches children about responsibility. They learn to take care of their belongings, charge the scooter when needed, and observe safety protocols while riding.
- Environmentally Friendly Entertainment: Electric scooters are eco-friendly compared to gas-powered vehicles. By using one, children can have fun while also learning about sustainable living and reducing their carbon footprint.
- Promotes Social Interaction: Children often ride their scooters together, promoting social interaction. It provides opportunities to meet new friends and improve their social skills.
- Enhanced Mood and Mental Health: Physical activities like scooter riding release endorphins, known as “feel good” hormones, improving mood and reducing stress levels (I agree, the AI may be stretching it here, but I suppose it’s possible).
- Learning Road Safety: When children ride an electric scooter, they start learning about road safety, rules, and etiquette. It’s a safe way to introduce them to these essential life lessons.
- Builds Confidence: Mastering the skills to ride an electric scooter safely and effectively can help children build confidence and self-esteem, which can translate to other areas of their life.
- Convenience for Family Outings: Electric scooters can make family outings or trips more convenient. Instead of walking long distances, kids can ride their scooters, making the experience less tiring and more enjoyable.
There is a saying that goes something like, “the family that plays together stays together.” Entering this contest as a family is a great idea since it can build excitement for both you and your child. In fact, one of the methods of entering requires you to ask for a child’s opinion. You never know, if you do win this contest, you might just buy one for yourself so you and your child can ride together!
How to enter
Entering this contest will be fun and you can enter in three different ways:
- Ask a child (could be any child you know): what is the most important reason why a child would want a Segway escooter. Then in a comment below our article about the selection of escooters at Best Buy, tell us the first name of the child, and what their answer is about why kids want an escooter. For example, you might write, “Alidar wants a escooter to ride to the park with his friends.” (Alidar was one of my best friends when I was in school!)
- In a comment below, tell us if you agree with all of the benefits stated by the AI above or if you think there are other great reasons that the AI did not consider.
- Social post: For two additional entries, create a public post on a social media channel sharing with your friends and followers that you are entering this contest to win a Segway escooter, include the hashtag #BestBuySegwayContest, so we can find your post, and include a picture from this contest page. Then return here and tell us in a comment below on which channel you posted it and the name of your channel (since many people use pseudonyms) so that we can check and verify your entry. You can use any social media channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.), but the post must be public so we can verify it is there.
What you can win
At the end of the contest, we will randomly select one winner from all eligible entries who will win a Segway Ninebot eKickScooter and helmet.
This contest runs from July 26th to August 8th.
Remember you can enter in three different ways. Share this contest with your family and friends and ask them if they agree with the benefits of escooters stated above.

I do agree with the AI reasons listed above. AI is valuable to people in many ways.. medicine, customer service/assistance, etc.. however I also worry about the negative aspects of AI. AI can be used to plagiarize others, will most definitely be used in place of humans for many jobs, etc. I hope that governments & companies around the world establish & follow a standard set of rules & laws regarding AI.

That list has more benefits than I could imagine for the scooter. Most I agree with, others maybe not so much. The first one caused me to chuckle, “promote physical activity”… To me it looks more like a fun easy way to get from point a to b instead of walking or running or riding a bicycle.
