Samsung Odyssey series monitors deliver amazing gaming and productivity. We already gave away the largest G9 monitors in a contest earlier this year. Now you have a chance to win one three different sizes and styles of Odyssey monitors: the G3, G5, and the G7. These monitors offer superior performance. I’ll highlight some of the features that differentiate them. Then you’ll have a chance to weigh in on which features are most important to you to enter this contest.
Display size an obvious consideration for your new Samsung Monitor
I have to admit, I am not into the massive monitors like Samsung’s G9 with its 49″ screen. Firstly, I don’t have the room for one. Secondly, and most importantly, I am an infrequent gamer, so I would not get the benefit of total immersion that a gamer embraces with one or more large monitors. Of the three monitors that we are giving away in this contest, the G3 would be perfect for me with its 24″ screen, a huge improvement over the 21 inch screen I currently use. The G5’s 27″ and the G7’s 28″ wouldn’t be a problem for my space, and I might be in heaven with the extra space (I’d have to try it and see).
Here is a table of some of the other key features found in these three monitors (thanks to Marcus Wong who created this table for his detailed review of these three monitors).
As you can see, there are some clear differences in addition to screen size.
Which feature is the most important when choosing a gaming monitor
Monitors are tricky things to buy. You try to compare models but there are so many features and some of these will not likely weigh on your decision at all. For example, in the monitors Best Buy is giving away in this contest, few people would choose one over the other based on the difference in HDMI video input. HDMI 1.4 is perfectly fine for the G3 with its 1080p display, but the G7 with its 4K display requires the new HDMI 2.1 standard (it supports a 4K signal at 120Hz) or you wouldn’t get the benefit of the higher resolution screen. So, some people might choose the G7 based on its 4k resolution, rather than its HDMI support, and other people will be fine with the resolution of the G3, and spend less money for a monitor that perfectly suits their needs.
And that raises a good point about monitors: the more modern the features, the higher the price. Yes, this applies to technology in general and monitors are not exempt. So when selecting a new monitor many people focus on two or three features and also on the price. For example, my daughter recently bought a monitor and a main consideration was that it was white to match her apartment (and she found exactly what she wanted at Best Buy!).
Think about what you want in a monitor and then enter this contest for a chance to win one of these three monitors.
How to enter
Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in two different ways.
- In a comment below, tell us about three features that you think are the most important when you are shopping for a monitor. For example, if you mention colour, what about colour: should it be dark like the monitors we are giving away or perhaps pink like the Samsung M8 monitor to match your decor?
- In a comment beneath the review article for these monitors on Best Buy’s blog, tell us which of the three monitors he discusses is your favourite and why.
What you can win
At the end of this contest, we will randomly select three (3) eligible entries to each win one of the three monitors that we sent out for review: a Samsung Odyssey G3, G5, or G7 gaming monitor.
This contest runs from May 19th to June 2nd.
Remember you can enter once in a comment below and once in a comment on the review article for these monitors. However, you can boost your chances of getting to see and try these monitors by telling your friends and family to enter too!
Win the Samsung Odyssey Gaming Monitors Rules and Regulations
Good luck.
I do a lot of gaming so the the thing that are most important for me are:
1. Resolution. At least 1440p
2. Refresh rat. 120hz or better
3. HDR capable. At least HDR 10
Thes eare 3 of the basic things a monitor would need to ensure a quality picture for gaming.
1. Refresh rate: above 120 Hz.
2. Resolution: above QHD.
3. Response time: 1 ms.
price, size and picture quality
I think price , monitor size and screen type (curved, flat) and fast response times as well as warranty are all very important things to consider
1-Size
2- multiple input and output ports
3- high response time
At least 120 hz, 1ms response time and 1080 p for a gaming monitor.
I would go with the Samsung Odyssey G5-I like the curved screen
1-input and output ports, for use with multi devices
2- high response time for gaming.
3-size-when is it ever too big
I have had Samsung phones and I have a Samsung TV would still works, and I have a Samsung monitor which still works but has a little bit of a bug in it with the lighting but it’s still works and I love Samsung products they work well last a good amount of time.
Quality, resolution and durability
Once thing I have as utmost importance in a monitor is the resolution. As games, video cards, etc. is upgraded and developed, it would be nice to have a monitor that bring out the full visual aspect of the product.
Most important would be the refresh rate preferably 120hz or higher. Second would be the 1ms response time for no noticeable lag. Third would be built in speaker for convenience.
1. I would select a curved screen as I think it would provide the most immersive gaming experience.
2. The next factor would be the size as I play at a desk and the screen can’t be too large or I would be sitting too close to really enjoy it.
3. The next most important factor is the refresh rate as I hate lag when I am gaming.
Price, resolution and durability
durable
Price, resolution and size
Price (needs to fit my budget), size (needs to fit my space), resolution (is it for work or gaming )are my starting point when looking at new monitors.
refresh rate, color scale depth. curved
Price, size and resolution.

Price, size, and resolution would be the 3 main considerations for choice
I look at the size of the monitor for starters because of my age. Then I consider the cost. I love curved monitors so that would help me pick the one I like.
I like the -Samsung Odyssey G5-I like the curved screen high response time for gaming, input and output ports to use for multi devices,– high response time for gaming. and big size
Price, resolution and size
The 3 most important are:
Size of the monitor as it needs to fit in the desired space
2- the price of course
3 – the resolution for the best gaming posible
Price, size, and resolution would be the 3 top features.
1. Screen size – I prefer a large screen but it needs to fit where I intend to use it.
2. Port variety – I like to plug more than one device into my monitors and my devices have different types of outputs.
3. Picture quality – bright colours and deep blacks and higher resolutions – I find the better the picture quality the more focused I can be, playing or working.
Monitor resolution is important, I want 1440 with 240hz+ and maybe .5-1 ms response. Cost is an important factor, along with durability and life span of the product.
the price and the size and the resolution
1. A monitor with high resolution is essential for me
2. I prefer larger sized monitors, but also not too big (around 27″)
3. I also care about the overall aesthetic of the monitor and if it is visually appealing
Size, durability, reliability.
I want it to be enough screen economy to support my work. I don’t want it to take a hit but I don’t want it to be fragile. I want a screen I can trust. Ratings!
Resolution must be crisp and clear, size (not too big but not too small either) must be able to fit on my desk nicely and price (not too expensive).
Would love the G7 gaming monitor. Thanks for the chance.
my pick-Samsung Odyssey G5-I like the curved screen
-input and output ports, for use with multi devices
– high response time for gaming.
-size-when is it ever too big
The 3 features that are most important to me are: size, resolution and the cost of the product.
3 features most important are:
1. size so that it fits into the space designated .
2. color so that it matches the color of my office decor
3.price so that it fits my budget.
odessey G7 – high resolution, flat panel, HDR 400 Support
resolution, size, cost
Prefer a flat panel, high resolution and an adjustable stand! Thanks for the chance to win.
1) The price is right.
2) The size is perfect.
3) The color and resolution are perfect.
Looks awesome !
Price, size and colour. Thank you
I believe color, resolution and intensity are the most important traits of a good monitor.
Resolution, size, and compatibility. Thank you for the contest.
Price, size & colour
Number 1. It has to be soft on the eyes with flicker control.
Number 2. Size is important, so anything under 27” is a big non-no for me.
Number 3. It must be fast, whether it’s free sync, 4K resolution and/or a fast refresh rate.
