samsung smart monitor M5, M7, M8 reviewThe new line of Samsung Smart Monitors blurs the lines between televisions and monitors. Connect one of these monitors to the internet and instantly you can do many things, before you even connect a computer or other device to it. In that sense the monitor is “smarter” than your average monitor. Great for productivity and for pure play. Read on to learn why you might want to upgrade your monitor with a new Samsung, then enter for a chance to win either the new Samsung M5 smart monitor or the Samsung M7 smart monitor.

How smart is your computer monitor

The word “smart” gets thrown around a lot these days whenever people are talking about tech. Sometimes it means it connects to the internet, so you can access features via an app. Smart lights are examples of this. At some point in the future, “smart” devices will uniformly predict when and how you want to use them and behave appropriately without your intervention. Samsung smart monitors fall somewhere between these two.

The Samsung M5 and M7 monitors we are giving away in this contest offer a better experience that most monitors. My daughter recently bought a monitor and I offered to send her a Roku streaming stick so she could watch movies on it in her apartment. However, the monitor didn’t have internal speakers so she could watch movies but couldn’t hear them. The Samsung M5 and M7 do have speakers. However, they have a lot more than that.

Access entertainment and much more on Samsung smart monitors

It’s not hard to see why smart monitors are becoming so popular. Read the review of these monitors by Shelly Wutke on the blog and you’ll understand the attraction immediately. You can access content on the internet just using the monitor: without even attaching a computer. In this sense, it behaves like a television. It’s self contained with the Samsung operating system and its own remote control. Quickly and easily go from work mode to play mode, from typing an article to catching up on the new season of “Stranger Things.” Of course, it’s especially useful for students in a small apartment or a dorm room where you wouldn’t want to have a TV and a monitor. A monitor that doubles as a television is ideal.

But it also serves as an excellent monitor to get work done. The M5 is an amazing 27″ Full HD monitor and the M7 a spacious 32″ 4K UHD monitor. Both feature enhanced features for brilliant gaming when the work is done. And, as I mentioned, both are smart, bridging the gap between monitor and television making this an all in one productivity and entertainment centre.

Amazingly, Best Buy and Samsung are giving away both of these monitors in this contest.

  1. The M7 is the best option for a student to have because it provides all a student would need during their school year. Students will have the ability to sit down and relax to their favourite television show. It is portable for students to move to a place where they feel more productive to do their school projects. Lastly, it would allow to have multiple windows shown on their screen for them to look around.

  2. Both would be awesome, but I think the M7 would be better for a student because the larger monitor and better resolutions reduces the need for a television giving them the option to do their school work, watch movies and get some gaming in.

  3. The M7 is better for a student as it has a bigger screen and better resolution to use programs like photoshop or an editing software which facilitates more accurate pictures and video.

  4. The M 5 would be better for a student living where space is at a premium such as a dorm room or shared apartment space . If space is not a constraint, the larger M7 with higher resolution would be better for working on presentations, graphics for courses such as architecture or engineering.

  5. The M7 would be better as it is bigger. The same monitor can be used for productivity and entertainment.

  6. The M7 would be the better option due to its larger size, then a student can better enjoy the enhanced feature for both work and play..

  7. Different students have different needs but the computer science student in my family needs a larger resolution display for having more windows open to code and test. This would make the Samsung M7 smart monitor the best choice.

  8. The M7 would be best for a student because its larger screen will allow the student to display more content and view media in larger format.

  9. I suspect the smaller M5 would be perfect – dorm rooms are not large so if one is sitting closer they better benefit from the size of the M5. My girl just turned 18 and is graduating – this would be a wonderful gift.

  10. The larger one, especially for programming students as it would let them have multiple apps viewable on screen at once

  11. These old eyes are not what they used to be, I need all the help I can get so the M7 monitor because of the bigger display!

  12. The M7 is a great size screen to use for both a computer monitor as well as a TV since it has built-in speakers.

  13. My vote for a student is the Samsung M7 smart monitor – perfect size to use as a TV/streaming device in an apartment or dorm, and enough inputs to get things done easily.

  14. I think the M5 would be best for a student due to its smaller footprint. Ideal for smaller rooms.

  15. The M5 would be better for students because they don’t usually have much working space and yet M5 offers excellent picture quality.

  16. The Samsung M7 would be best for a student because the bigger screen lets you have multiple windows open and visible at the same time

  17. The Samsung M7 can do it all and it has a large screen. Great for writing papers or relaxing watching a bit of tv.

  18. M7 because 4k provides much better clarity specially since a student is most likely to be working with text.

  19. The M7 with the larger screen would be better for a student who uses it for both TV and gaming, for a better visual experience.

  20. The bigger screen of the the M7 a spacious 32″ 4K UHD monitor would make watching TV or gaming more fun for a student.

  21. Samsung M7 would be a better choice since the size would allow students to have multiple windows open to do assignments or research and the size would be more comparable to a small tv to enjoy when not working on school work.

  22. I’d go with the M7 because of the 32 inch 4K UHD display with 3840 x 2160 resolution . Students spend a great deal of time doing homework & projects, so the bigger screen and higher resolution would decrease eye strain and make work more enjoyable and more satisfying

  23. I’d suggest the M7 for a student over the M5. Honestly it’s because bigger is better. This can double as a monitor to be productive with a PC/laptop but also as an actual TV for entertainment — and since it can double for both you might end up saving a bit of money avoiding getting a separate TV otherwise.

  24. As someone who spends a lot of time creating presentations for several zoom sessions a week, the M7 would be ideal. Not only can I use it to create the presentations, but it will also definitely be easier for my aging eyes to identify everyone present in the session.

  25. Students don’t usually have much living or working space, so I’d go with the smaller M5 monitor.

  26. The M7 would be best for my student son who is in computer programming for gaming because this monitor has 60Hz refresh rate means the screen is fast enough to handle thrilling game play faster and easier.
