FIRED UP
The Fire HD tablets are all-new, courtesy of expanded storage and other features to make them accessible to you. Featuring an HD display in 7″, 8″, and 10.1″ sizes, and up to 10 hours of mixed use battery life (up to 8 hours for the 7″ tablet), this is a tablet that offers some flexibility in what you want to do. Catch up on a favourite show on Netflix? Check. Start reading a new Kindle eBook you just downloaded? Check. Listen to music and play some casual games? Check, and check.
The built-in storage gets plenty of backup, should you need the extra room. The Fire tablet can handle up to 256GB of additional storage in its microSD memory card slot. Download apps, stream media, browse the web and keep in touch with friends and family when carrying this with you. The Fire keeps it simple.
WATCH THIS
The HD display is pleasing on the eyes. Vibrant, yet soft and crisp all at once, it shows over 1 million pixels for a bright, vivid picture.
There is plenty of content to enjoy on the display. You get access to millions of Kindle eBooks, games and apps. That includes popular ones, like Netflix, Prime Video, Spotify, Facebook and Instagram. Download movies and shows directly onto the Fire tablet to view them offline.
Read all the eBooks you can feast your eyes on by accessing the Kindle Store at your leisure. Let your ears hear the clarity that comes with Dolby Atmos Audio. You get dual stereo speakers optimized for Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Atmos for enhanced realism and dynamic range.
GOING FAST
A little speed always helps when trying to get somewhere faster. That’s what the Fire tablet aims to do when navigating through the various features available to you. With a 2.0GHz quad-core processor in the 10″ model (1.3GHz quad-core processor in the 7″ and 8″ models), getting around won’t feel like a crawl.
Easily switch between apps and multitask without worrying about strain. Play games with ease without losing your last save point. Download and start reading eBooks in seconds. Stay organized with everything you use on the device.
No matter how you weave your way through the tablet’s features, you’ll feel like you’re getting things done. The Fire tablet delivers with simplicity in mind, but not at the expense of faster performance.
STAYING ON
Keeping the lights on is important when playing with any tablet, and the Fire tablet does just that with up to 10 hours of battery life. That can get you through a full day, and means you won’t have to worry about losing out when catching up on a show or movie.
Help the battery gain efficiency by using expandable storage. Take the tablet all the way up to 256GB with a microSD card. Install apps and games directly onto the card, while also storing media you can watch anywhere offline.
Even though this Fire tablet is thinner, lighter and more durable than before, it still sports better battery life.

Does the device support HTML5 ?
I bought a ZFIre 7 “with Alexa” from Amazon ca.
However, o Alexa! I had Amazon ca techs work online attempting to get Alexa on my tablet, after about an hour they gave up. They seemed unaware we poor Canadians were being offeref an Alexa deprived model! Itook advantage of their “Free returns. Also note thet The Alexa bit is now missing from their ads.
BTW…Watch out for the cheaper With Special Offers” model, as it may cast you $15.00 to stop ads from popping up on your lock screen.
What 3G mean?
When Alexa is available in Canada will I be able to download it to my Fire, will it automatically update or will I have to buy a new Fire?
How do these compare to an android based sustem for games and apps?
Amazon Fire HD 8″ 16GB FireOS 6 3G Tablet With MTK Quad-Core Processor – Black
This tablet model has 3G free?
Thanks Andrew & John. I was wondering why My Amazon Fire Tablet I bought last week wouldn’t stay connected to my network.
I just bought it last week from the Shopping Channel who never said anything about not being able to use it in Canada yet.
I guess now I should return it.
It appears that Best Buy has the old version (200GB MicroSD limit). When will it get the new version referred to in the article?
Amazon is definitely an “America First” company … I was wanting to try the Fire Tablet for Kids and Amazon.ca notified me that my Amazon Prime does not apply to this item but I could contact a 3rd party in the US to have it purchased and shipped. They did not mention what (if any) use such a device would be if I don’t have a US Prime Account to connect it to. My point is … be very careful moving into Amazon US Only Products even if they become available in Canada.
There is a Fire HD 10 Tablet with Alexa Hands-Free, 10.1″ 1080p Full HD Display, 32 GB available in the US.
How come we in Canada can NOT buy it?
Hi John,
We see this quite often where a technology is released in some countries but not others. I asked the tablet team at Best Buy Canada’s head office and they told me that this device is coming soon to Canada.
Best regards,
Martin
