When our family would gather for Christmas one of the highlights was making a huge batch of yeast donuts late in the night that we would cover in sugar and cinnamon.
I usually made Eggs Benedick for our Christmas breakfast. One year, the boys decided that they would make the eggs benedick as a special treat for their dad and I. (They were in their late teens.) They did a fantastic job of making the breakfast – even adding orange slices to make the plates look pretty. When finished, they left the kitchen a mess but I still had a big smile on my face that they were so thoughtful to make the breakfast.

Our family tradition is shortbread cookies. My grandma, mom, aunts, and cousins all gather and we start the season by baking batches of my grandma’s homemade shortbread. We all know how to make them now, but nobody does it as well as Grandma.
