GE Profile indoor smoker

You can always count on GE Profile to showcase something innovative at CES. Last year, it was the smart mixer with auto sense. This year, it’s an indoor smoker. Yes, a smoker you can safely use in the kitchen, so it’s no surprise this small appliance is getting plenty of buzz at the show. The company also showcased its all-in-one washer and dryer unit, which launched last summer and has earned a CES Innovation Awards Honoree.

GE Profile Smart Indoor Smoker with Active Smoke Filtration

How on earth is it possible to use a smoker inside? This is thanks to GE’s own Active Smoke Filtration technology, which the company says uses heat combined with a catalyst system to turn wood smoke into warm air. The tight gaskets and seals, meanwhile, keep the smoke in the appliance so you can safely make a brisket, smoke a chicken or salmon, or experiment from the comfort of your home. A pellet capture system extinguishes used pellets, collecting them in a water tank for easy disposal. For Canadians who have limited times when they can head outdoors to use a full-sized smoker, this could be a game-changer.

You can adjust the smoke intensity and temperature: there’s a separate heat source for burning the pellets and cooking foods. Choose from five adjustable smoke settings so you can get everything from a hint of smokiness to full smoke flavour. The machine also has six preset food settings for commonly smoked items, including brisket, pork ribs, pork butt, chicken wings, chicken breasts, and salmon. It also has an auto warm function to keep your food warm until you’re ready to eat, for up to 24 hours.

Naturally, the small kitchen appliance is larger than a typical cooker but no bigger than your standard large-sized microwave. The interior is large enough to fit three racks of baby back ribs, a brisket, a whole chicken, up to 40 chicken wings, or a 14-pound pork butt.

You can control everything in the unit using the GE Profile Connect+ app, including setting the desired smoke level, monitoring the cook process, and more. Plus, you can receive over-the-air updates, guided recipes, and more.

The unit’s parts are dishwasher safe, including the removable racks and drip trays. On the side, it also comes with a temperature probe and a bag of co-branded GE Profile and Kona pellets.

GE Profile UltraFast Combo washer/dryer with ventless heat pump technology

While it isn’t necessarily brand new, having launched stateside in summer 2023, the GE Profile UltraFast Combo with ventless heat pump is a CES 2024 Innovation Awards Honoree thanks to its innovation in the home appliance category. This unit, much like the one LG just launched at the show, combines both washing and drying in a single machine, making the process more efficient, not to mention saving space.

The concept isn’t entirely new, but GE says its engineers worked tirelessly on the new patented heat pump technology, which matches high speed airflow with a sealed heat pump system. The result is the ability both wash and dry even a large load in two hours. For big families or those with lots of loads to do on a weekly basis, this could save tons of time.

GE says the ventless heat pump technology and high airflow ventless drying system is also 50 percent more energy efficient than the standard Energy Star rating for a typical electric dryer. The ventless design also means you have more options in terms of where to place the machine in the home: all you need is a water hook-up and drain and 120V outlet. Plus, the machine employs some other high-tech innovations, including Adaptive Smart Dispense and Microban Antimicrobial technology.

With a 4.8 cubic-foot capacity, the machine can fit a full king-size comforter, full set of bedding, and more; and the height is designed to make it easy to put things inside and taken them out for folding on top. It comes in a gorgeous carbon graphite with an LED control panel.

GE Profile never disappoints when it comes to connected appliances. These two innovations at CES 2024 prove that the company is often ahead of the curve, and even creates exciting new categories.
