If you haven’t been into a Best Buy store in a while, get ready for a whole new experience. Several Best Buy stores across Canada have received massive makeovers. Gone are the old narrow aisles, dark colours, and florescent lighting. In its place you’ll find a lighter, brighter, and cozier shopping experience that feels more like you’re in a home then at a big box store.
Best Buy’s makeover – Appliance section is all new
This makeover is perhaps most noticeable in the appliance section of the store. You’ll find the appliance section broken into”rooms”, with the overall effect being that you’re touring different show homes.
Major appliances like refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, and even small appliances are all laid out as if you were visiting someone’s home. Beautiful flooring, tile, and cabinetry give you a much more realistic idea of how these appliances will look in your home. The lighting has also been improved in the store. Under-cabinet lighting, and overhead LED fixtures provide a much softer light that’s less harsh and more homey.
In some of the ‘home’ displays, there are several variations on a theme. For example, different styles of cooktop are available on pull-out drawers underneath the counter-level display model.Find appliance brands you want by brand
The appliance section is also broken up by brand, which makes it easier for you to find things that match your existing pieces, or let you build a brand-new suite of appliances from scratch.
There is a huge selection of major appliance models on display from top brands like Miele, Samsung, LG, Bosch, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, GE and Frigidaire. This configuration also allows you to match all your appliances to one brand’s look easily, instead of wandering through all the different appliance sections like you’d need to do at other stores.
Interactive Digital Displays
In some of the brand areas, you’ll find brand new interactive digital displays that provide you access to the brand’s entire catalog of major home appliances. In an instant, you can surf product specifications, details, and 360° reviews of each appliance. So not only do you get to view the item in a real home style setting, but you have access to an instant view of all the other appliances in the line.
These large panel displays are about 3-4 feet wide so there’s no squinting at a tiny computer monitor, and the displays are quick and responsive, meaning no waiting.
Get up close with small appliances
If you’re trying to visualize how smaller things will look in your home, you can browse the area next to the large appliance section, where small appliances are kept. From KitchenAid stand mixers, to rice cookers, toasters, and just about anything else you might need in your fabulous new kitchen, it’s all there within easy reach, and very easy to visualize in your home. You can sample the buttons and controls, feel the weight of the appliance, and even get a firsthand look at the various colour options.
Getting hands-on with appliances helps you decide
It’s a different shopping experience being able to get hands-on with appliances both large and small. It’s nice to have that tactile feel and real world setting to see if that French door refrigerator really will work the way you think it will in your own kitchen. As well, being able to touch and play with small appliances is what gives you a sense of how they’ll operate once you get them home.

Good idea. Why are there no Electroluxe appliances in store or online, when the competition has all their products, in Red deer, AB?
Great video! I’ll have to go downtown to the Cambie store and check it out.
