Citizen YouQ smartwatch

Innovation in the smartwatch space typically comes with new features like skin temperature sensing, ECG monitoring, stress tracking, and more. Citizen is taking things a step further with its CZ Smart YouQ smartwatch, on display at CES 2023. The watch was designed in partnership with IBM and uses that company’s Watson machine learning technology.

How will IBM Watson technology be used?

Citizen YouQIBM Watson technology is combined with scientific research from NASA to offer a built-in wellness advisor in the YouQ watch. This offers useful insights for wearers to help them optimize their wellness. It achieves this by staying tuned to your natural body rhythms. It helps you predict what might be coming up ahead in terms of how you feel and react to certain situations, or even times of the day.

The idea behind the proprietary software is to help you both understand and anticipate patterns of fatigue and alertness. From there, you’ll get customized insights and personalized strategies. These are designed to help you adopt better habits and, overall, maximize your daily potential.

The watch stays attuned to the wearer’s personal Chronotype, defined as a “genetic market for an individual’s preferred timing of sleep and wake.” It also tunes to your personal rhythms and habits. The resetting strategies provided to you are called Power Fixes. These are designed to encourage you to change the way you do things to improve your overall health and well-being.

What else does the Citizen CZ Smart YouQ feature?

Citizen YouQ appYou’ll also receive Alert Scores that are derived from customized Alert Monitor tests. These tests are interestingly a consumer-facing version of NASA’s Psychomotor Vigilance Task Test. That test was initially designed to test the cognitive acuity of astronauts.

Like other smartwatches, the Citizen CZ Smart YouQ also tracks activity, heart rate, and more, as well as circadian rhythm. The touchscreen will work with customizable, downloadable dials. Enjoy more than 24 hours of battery life per charge, with support for fast charging. It’s compatible with both iOS and Android devices.

As the first multi-year global agreement leveraging IBM Watson machine learning in a consumer wearable device, the Citizen Smart YouQ smartwatch is one of the most interesting new smartwatches being shown at CES 2023.

The watch is set for availability in March 2023: stay tuned for more details about Canada. It will come in a sport style with silicone and metal bracelet straps or casual style with a mesh bracelet, links, and silicone strap.

Additionally, Citizen is showcasing its next generation of hybrid smartwatches with YouQ wellness software, which are set for availability by Summer 2023.
