Get over here! The iconic Mortal Kombat franchise which has sold more than 80 million games over the past 30 years is being reborn this fall with Mortal Kombat 1. Developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros, the upcoming game introduces a brand new Mortal Kombat universe created by Liu Kang, the Fire God. It showcases familiar characters from the Mortal Kombat universe in fresh and exciting ways that have never been seen before.

Mortal Kombat 1, is planned for release on September 19, 2023. You’ll be able to play it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Story mode returns with an immersive cinematic narrative

NetherRealm brings back their renowned Story Mode, known for shaping the genre, offering an engaging cinematic narrative. This time, it brings unexpected surprises to timeless rivalries and introduces fresh and original backstories for a diverse group of iconic fighters. Prepare to experience the journeys of legendary characters like Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, and many more.

Additionally, Mortal Kombat 1 introduces Kameo Fighters, a distinctive roster of partner characters who can aid players during matches, expanding the gameplay possibilities. Not a whole lot is known about the new Kameo Fighters system at this moment. However, Ed Boon, Chief Creative Office at NetherRealm Studios said that the studio has plans to showcase this feature as well as more new elements of the game in the upcoming summer months.

Mortal Kombat 1 Standard Edition (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC)

The Standard Edition includes the base game. And, if you pre-order now you get Shang Tsung as a bonus playable character.

Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC)

The Premium Edition gives you all the content included in the Standard Edition, plus some exciting extras. You get the Kombat Pack, which grants you early access to the game starting on September 14, 2023. And, 1,250 Dragon Krystals, the in-game currency.

The Kombat Pack offers some fantastic bonuses, such as a Johnny Cage character skin modeled after the famous actor and martial artist, Jean-Claude Van Damme (available right from the start). You’ll also have early access to six new playable characters (available after the game’s initial release) and five brand new Kameo Fighters (also available after the game’s initial release).

Mortal Kombat 1 Kollector’s Edition (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S)

The Kollector’s Edition goes beyond the Premium Edition by including all its content and early access privileges. Additionally, you’ll receive a special 16.5-inch sculpture of Liu Kang, meticulously crafted by COARSE, as well as an exclusive in-game character skin featuring Liu Kang.

This edition also offers three unique art prints, a sturdy steel case for extra protection, and an impressive total of 1,450 additional Dragon Krystals (bringing the total to 2,700).

Mortal Kombat launches September 19, 2023 and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. All Mortal Kombat 1 pre-orders will receive Shang Tsung as an in-game playable character and depending on which edition of the game you get, you will get additional content and early access.
