So get your bubblegum ready, pick up your controller and lets start the show!

MLB 15: The Show is developed by SCE San Diego Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment

Genre: Sports

Rating: E for Everyone

MLB 15: The Show is the tenth entry in the series and boasts the most improvements and newest features to date. Along with the numerous refinements to gameplay across the board, so many that I would be hard pressed to fit them all in this piece but I will be going over some of the most notable below.

First off one of the most notable additions to the game, is that for the first time in the series, players will be able to carry over their save file from MLB 14:The Show. This means you will be able to continue your Franchise and Road to the Show progress from the previous game in this latest iteration.

Now lets talk gameplay real quick. There have been huge improvements made to not only the in game AI, but many more tweaks to things like ball physics, a new slide and tag system, simplified swing controls, more player animations, a new dynamic difficulty system and more. All these improvements will not only improve the overall game play but it will also help to create a much more realistic looking and feeling game.

One of the biggest new features to grace MLB 15: The Show is the Directional Hitting Interface. This will allow you to influence the direction of your hits in real time when you swing. Meaning you can attempt, ground balls, fly balls, pushed hits, pulled hits and many more. This will also interact with the pitches you are receiving as well, things like swinging at an outside pitch will be better for hitting the ball in the opposite direction, as an example. All this will be done with the L-Stick and if no input is made the game will be just like before, using the Timing Hitting interface from the previous games in the series.

Once again they have also added more personality to not only the teams and players but also the crowd and players in the dugout. This means players will have more individuality with minor touches like necklaces or specifically tilted caps and other minor style aesthetics. This also means the crowd will react better and  in real time to the game as it is in progress. They have also added more team and player celebrations, which are always fun to watch!

As for graphical improvements, the game will really shine on PS4 to say the least. On PS4 you will be able to see real time seasonal sun and shadows, enhanced player skin tones for more variations and realism, revamped night lighting and a more accurate and photorealistic rendering system. On top of all this the PS4 version will also feature 10 more Minor League stadiums.

Thats a lot of new features and I have only just scratched the surface as MLB 15: The show promises to be best and biggest  in the series to date. Making this latest instalment a must have for all true baseball fans.

MLB 15: The Show is out now and available on PS4PS3 and PS Vita

  1. I love the pitching control and fluid gameplay.  Now if only I could learn how to actually avoid the low inside slider I might get a few more hits.
