Nintendo Switch is the ultimate family gaming console. It has the flexibility to take anywhere your family goes, and the versatility to go from individual play to interactive or competitive play. Also, the selection of games continues to excite us with each new release. Their newest game, Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet comes out this month and Best Buy is giving away a copy of the double pack version of the game, a Nintendo prize pack, and a Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition Switch OLED, for one amazing ultimate Nintendo prize.

Do you have a favourite Nintendo memory?

Families have been enjoying Nintendo gaming for decades. My favourite Nintendo memory is from when my children were young playing Mario Kart with my father-in-law Dan. The fun started with selecting a driver, “Granpa, I want to be Bowser; you got to be him last time!” which to an outsider may have seemed confrontational but the atmosphere was total fun and laughs.

Pokemon too has been thrilling adults and children since 1996. What started as a very successful video game for the Game Boy quickly evolved into anime, trading cards, manga, and tons of related toys and other merchandise. Few on this planet have not experience Pokemon in one way or another. This contest will certainly create lasting memories for someone in Canada. The prize includes a Nintendo Switch console on which they will play countless games at home, at friends’ homes, and on road trips. One of those games will be the new Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet that’s also included in this prize. And the winner will also enjoy a collection of Nintendo Pokemon merchandise. It’s pretty much a perfect Pokemon prize!

Many people will be gifting Nintendo this season

You may be wondering what are the best games to give Nintendo Switch gamers this season. You might already have an opinion about it, or you may be interested in what games other players are recommending. We sent our writers to a Nintendo holiday showcase event to get some insights and you can read about their experiences on the blog. Also, scroll through the comments under that article. For the next two weeks, Canadians will be leaving their Nintendo Switch game recommendations under that article as one of the methods of entering this contest. Here are all of the ways you can enter this contest:

How to enter

Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in three different ways:

  1. In a comment below, tell us what your favourite Nintendo memory is, what game, was involved, and why this memory stands out for you.
  2. In a comment beneath the “Nintendo Holiday Showcase” article, tell us which Nintendo Switch game sold at Best Buy (include the model number) is your gift recommendation for Canadians this season.
  3. For up to two (2) additional entries, create a public post on a social media channel (one entry per channel!) telling your friends and followers which version “Pokemon Scarlet” or “Pokemon Violet” you’ll play first if you win this Nintendo Switch prize pack; include the hashtag #BestBuyNintendoSwitchContest, so we can find your post, and include one of the pictures showing on this article.
Then return here and tell us in a comment below on which channel you posted it and the name of your channel (since many people use pseudonyms) so that we can check and verify your entry. You can use any social media channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.), but the post must be public so we can verify it is there.

What you can win

At the end of this contest, we will randomly select one (1) winner to receive the Nintendo Switch Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Prize pack that includes the double game and the Nintendo Switch OLED Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition.

This contest runs from Nov 17th until Dec 5th.

Remember you can enter in three different way as discussed above. Nintendo is best played with friends and our contests are best enjoyed with you share with family and friends to increase that chances that either you or someone close to you wins a great prize.

  1. My favourite Nintendo memory was getting a Game Boy Colour as a little kid and getting Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins with it. This was the first system and video game I ever owned.

  2. My husband bought me an NES. I wasn’t impressed because I figured he just bought it for himself. Then I became so addicted to Tetris that I was almost late for work one day!

  3. Best Nintendo Memory was playing Wii Sports with the family. It stands out because at the time the Wii was revolutionary and the first gaming console my family got!

  4. Thank you so much for the giveaway! My fondest memory while playing on a Nintendo console would be as a teenager in my family we didn’t have the budget for video game consoles. So when I would babysit the neighbours I would play with them a few games on the N64! We would take each turns! The game I played the most with them is Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards! This memory stands out for me because playing video games in my childhood inspired me of making my own video games. I want to make games that gets people together for a common goal!

  5. My memory was playing Super Mario on a game system I won at a Christmas party. Thought I wouldn’t get into gaming and was suddenly hooked once I tried it out.

  6. Best memory would be playing Mario party with my young son who would win alot of the time. It was fun to play the mini games and see how well we can play them. Spend some Mario time together 1-4 players. Loads of FUN.
My Recommendation this year for Christmas is…
    Super Mario Party (Switch)
    Brand: Nintendo
    Model Number: HCCPADFJA

  7. Super mario bro is best my son is 5year old and he loves it.yesterday he said i wish i could buy my own nintendo switch.we all love it.

  8. Super Marios is The Best of The Best. Thank You Best Buy. A great Giveaway & Gift For The Grand Daughters. And Will Be Much Appreciated By All.

  9. Approximately 1986! You know, Duck Hunt and Mario. I’d get stuck on a level for a long time and ask my brother to help me just one time and he would play forever. We had some great times playing. I still play Mario and sometimes when I do or I hear my kids playing I’m drawn back to another time.

  10. Original Mario Bros, best memory would be playing with my Grandpa! Now that he’s no longer with us, the memories is what I hold dear to me!

  11. My best Nintendo memory was watching my brother play Legend of Zelda Link to the Past for the first time. I was so amazed and to this day it’s still my favourite game. Years later I got my own copy for my game boy. It was the first game I ever completed.

  12. Plugging in my N64 and letting my 5 year old son play Mario 64 for the first time, watching his eyes light up and I could see what I felt the first time I played it.

  13. My favourite Nintendo memory is playing Diddy Kong racing with my siblings as kids! so many fun memories and still one of my favourite games.

  14. My favourite Nintendo memory is of my mother playing Super Mario Bros and every time she tried to get Mario to jump she would lift the controller in an arch shape hoping that it would help. It is my favourite because for some reason it is the most vivid image of her that I’ve been able to hold on to all these years after she passed away.
I think she would have really enjoyed the Wii

  15. My favourite Nintendo memory is playing the Wii with my brother and sister 🙂 We were so excited when it first came out and owned a ton of different games. our favourite was the Wii Play Fishing and Wii Sports Tennis.

  16. My favourite memory is when I was playing duck hunt for hours with my son on the Nintendo we got him for Christmas.

  17. My favourite Nintendo memory is playing Mario Kart after school at my babysitters house every day growing up. Whenever we played that dark map Ghost Valley, the other kids would sing a song thay they made up for me “Jessica Goes Off The Edge” over and over. It stand out to me now because it still brings me giggles. My sister still sings it to me sometimes!
