  1. I’ve been gaming since I was pretty young. Our family’s first gaming console was an Atari 2600. The Atari 2600 was released during the year I was born, but It must have been out for a few years before my Dad decided to buy us one, because I distinctly remember him bringing it home, our first few days playing it, and the many different cartridge games he would bring home from various department stores over the years.

Our family gaming progressed to a Commodore 64 – so many summer days my younger Brother and I spent playing games on the Commodore 64! That was the first system I learned programming on. That progressed to my Dad getting us an IBM-compatible PC.

The first gaming console that I bought brand-new with 100% of my own money was a PS2. Although I probably couldn’t afford it, I had just gotten my first “real” job, and the large increase in paycheck size from any previous job I’d had made it a must-have purchase. Nowadays I still occasionally play games on our PS3 or XBox 360, but having a current-gen system would definitely get me back to playing games on a regular basis. Let’s go E3!

  2. So as previously stated, I’ve been gaming since Pac Man first came out, seriously, I can hear you laughing, but can you imagine growing up without video games, without remotes on your tv and phones that were wired into the wall. My boys don’t even realize that I grew up in a different world, that I was around at the start and they don’t realize how lucky they are to have had gaming since they were quite young. I don’t do much gaming although I do love it, I have my reasons,  my boys laugh at me…it’s so embarrassing and I’m super busy and I just can’t find the time and at this point,  we don’t have a working unit, and yes, that is my fault, I thought that my sons Xbox looked dusty and picked it up off the shelf to vacuum it and dropped it. My son is upset and no one in the family can game till I replace it. I did go to the mall to pick one up but one thing led to another and I got sidetracked by the gorgeous summer fashions. That iis another reason,  I am shopping when I could be gaming. I’ve warned my son that when I do replace his Xbox, I will be gaming more and that I would appreciate them not laughing at me so much, he just laughed at that. Thanks for the great contest! Fingers crossed, good luck to all!

  3. I started gaming when I was about 3 years old (1991)! My dad purchased our first console ever, the Super Nintendo with the Super Mario World game (we replayed this game countless times)! We grew up poor and only ever had a few games to play throughout the years. Games just grew on us because that was all we could afford to do. My sisters and I shared everything. Years down the road, we upgraded to the Nintendo 64 and that was lovely. My sisters and I were able to play all together. Our favourite game was Super Smash Bros., we just replayed it over and over again. Our parents couldn’t afford many games, so we were just stuck with the same few. As we got older, we phased away from consoles and played on the PC. I do miss the console and wish to experience multiplayer games with my sisters again. I am in a relationship at the moment, but my boyfriend only likes PC games. He refuses to buy a console for us to play on. It would be amazing if I were able to own one again. There is so much more to share, but I think that might start to bore the readers! Thanks for reading!

  4. I’ve been gaming since I was a kid. My brother has the Playstation 1 cnosole. The game that I used to play ALOT was mega man it was so cool! I have a older brother, he always buy new games whenever they come out, even for the console.
He has have alot of console, Playstation 1, 2 and 3. Now that his getting old, he have less time to play i have to buy it myself but I don’t have enought money. The fact that I have a older brother that love gaming, I think it’s genetic… I always want to play each and every games, i don’t mind if it’s on x box, playstation, nitendo etc.. Whenever I go to my friends place, we always ended up in front of the TV because he has alot of game. I really love gaming, if I have a chance, I would apply at “game testing” or whatever that is relates to video games. I don’t know what my life would be without video games. My favorite game at the moment it’s Call of Duty Black ops on PS3 or car’s games. I think I should win this contest because the prices are awesome. Plus since i’m not working yet, I don’t have money to pay recent game or console. I wish I have my own console.

  5. I’ve gamed since I was five or so years old, I was born in 1996 I started out by watching my brothers play the new Nintendo 64 we got for Christmas it was the best thing I’ve ever seen they would take turns with each other always skipping over me because I was the youngest I hated it but I enjoyed watching either way, anyways fast forward to our bedtime everyone went to bed except me I stayed up because I was determined to get my first try at Mario 64 so I snuck into the living room turned on the T.V. and the Nintendo muted the T.V. and started the game about ten minutes in mom gets out of bed to get a glass of water catches me sends me back to bed, and that was the first time i’ve ever played a video game fast forward 15 years i’ve got a PS3 been playing it since it got released haven’t really had the money to get one of the new consoles so i’ve just been playing on my PS3 well my friends have moved on to the newer systems which I can’t play because I can’t afford it but hopefully I can win it if not awesome for the other winners and I hope you enjoy it every bit.

  6. Daily entry for June 12th: Gaming-since-the-80s guy here again with another hopefully unique 200 word entry. Well, I’m starting to run out of unique stories for these things, but I guess I’ve covered most of the 80s, so I’ll write about my 90s gaming experience today. I did already talk about the Gameboy, but I also had a Super Nintendo a year later. It was sold out almost everywhere during Christmas season 1991, but my dad managed to find the “almost” . . and sorry, it wasn’t at Best Buy, but then again, that was probably because Best Buy wasn’t in Canada back then. (Whoa, I just went to Wikipedia to check when Best Buy came to Canada, and you guys were called “Sound of Music” before becoming Best Buy?? Wha–?? I’m just imagining Julie Andrews as your CEO. Smiley Wink ) I also remember that my dad paid $200 for the Super NES, and as a weird principle I still follow today, I’ve promised myself I’d never buy a gaming console unless it was $200 or below. The Super NES somehow set this unusual precedent for myself and my wallet.

Anyway, Super NES was my jam for a long time and likely my favourite system of all time. Everything’s 3D now, but man, I still miss 2D 16-bit sprite games, and Super Nes has so many of the best: Super Mario World of course, Turtles in Time, Mystical Ninja, Zelda, Kirby . . and it also had three of the best RPGs in Final Fantasy 3, Secret of Mana Super Mario RPG. I could write far more than 200 words about the Super NES, but I don’t want to end up crashing your server with all my text. Smiley Wink Ok, now for the Why I need a new console: again, to catch up to the latest and greatest, and because I don’t think the Playstation 4 nor Xbox One are falling to $200 anytime soon. Smiley Wink

  7. The very first game console I’ve ever owned was the original Xbox. It was around 2005, when I was about 10 years old. At school we had this fundraiser where we would sell magazine subscriptions. For selling a certain amount we were awarded prizes, and thus I received my Xbox. Over the years, I’ve accumulated an Xbox 360, a Nintendo DS Lite/3DS/New 3DS XL, and a Wii U, and to this day I still have my trusty Xbox (Which I now mainly play on for nostalgic purposes). However, I have never once owned a Playstation system.

This is quite the tragedy, as my passion for Japanese culture has made me desire many Japanese video games – many of which have only been released for PS consoles. The release of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD has really made it worse, as I have still been thinking of buying the game, over a year later. The problem is that I do not have enough money to spare to buy a PS4 for $400. Apart from all the other great games I’m missing out on, it would be great to own a PS4 so I can catch up on this great game before it’s not sold in-store anymore (I prefer physical copies). Hopefully with a Playstation console I would also be able to show my brother, who also has never owned Sony tech, the lineup of great games exclusive to Playstation systems.

  8. I had the chance to grow with caring parents and a forward thinking father. Seeing videogames as a technological curiosity, we played one of the first games, moving bars to hit a point, on the Coleco Telstar. Later, my brother and I had an happy surprise, receiving a Sega Master System as our first videogame console.

Since, in family we discovered the innovations of arcade games like Dragon’s Lair or Time Traveler and the variety of home gaming with the Genesis, Playstation, Saturn, Dreamcast and Xbox.

Some years ago, I received an Xbox 360 as a gift from my loving parents, happily reminding me that we all keep our child’s spirit.

Now it’s been over three decades that I play video games.

It led me to develop a deep interest for virtual productions and the feelings we experience playing videogames.
There is such an implication, an impressive amount of skills to make those works artistically and technically achieved, it motivated me to write a book.

Despite a glance to the last generation, I would need a new gaming console to experience the last productions.
It would be a pleasure, hoping to provide a good look at the videogames actual “reality”.

  9. A lot of the early games I played were educational games based on TV shows, but I was first introduced to real games when I was around four. A lot of my friends had Game Boys when the DS was only just starting to blow up, and they all had Pokemon. I didn’t own a Game Boy, so I just kept peeking over their shoulder. A lot of my friends had PS2s too. Even the church did, and I would stay there for hours on end, obsessed with Ratchet and Clank, Little Big Planet, and several other PS2 exclusives. . I of course started like a lot of people born in the 90’s, playing on hand me down video game systems like Super Nintendo and N64. Super Metroid, Super Mario, Kirby games, Golden Eye, and so many more. Like a lot of people many of my fondest memories were playing super mario and Golden Eye with my older Brother and my friends, or figuring out complex puzzles and challenges and accomplishing them. I still have both my Nintendo Consoles and even still occasional play them today. When the first Xbox came out I was really hooked. Halo blew my mind. I remember looking down at the grass and was amazed I could see different blades of grass. The new PS4 do have many great games. The latest game Fallout 4 is one of the game i really. I wish i can win a new system so i can play this game.

  10. My console, my travel companion, my life companion

More years than I can remember, uncountable happiness hours, two beautiful daughters, and almost four thousand kilometers after: I’m still playing video games.

Since I can remember I have had a console in my house, from my old Atari that my parents bought me, to my PlayStation 3 that I bought in order to play with my daughters; actually, I can’t even remember either all the games that I have played, or the amount of happiness hours with my games.

Now I lived in Winnipeg, 4000 kilometers away from the city I born and grow, and believed or not, my first companion in this travel was my PlayStation 3. My console has fallen, has traveled, has gotten scratches; but, it has never surrendered.

The time-life of my console is about to expire it is hard to kill, almost invincible, but the age and the distance are not easy tests. Because of my new adventure has a student, I’ll no be able to get a new one, and the long chain of life-consoles will be broken.

Now you can be part of my adventure, choose be part of my chain.

  11. At the young age of five, I played the analog game pong on my tube tv. I’m 31, still going strong with every console I can afford. Ever since that first game of pong I have been hooked on video games and the idea of adventure. Now, I’m a 3d modeller and aspiring indie developer just starting the process’ of my first and very own indie game. Last month, I was struck by an unfortunate event with my ps4. The chip died and I am unable to repair it due to my status as a student at university. I’ve been without it for sometime and couldn’t play uncharted 4 when it was released so I gave my pre-ordered copy to my sister for her wedding. I love games, and I have surrounded my very life with the fact that video games are the future of entertainment. Today, right now, I can see myself with that ps4 in the near future, whether I win this one or not. I just hope today might be my lucky chance, instead of purchasing it. Eating rice for the next couple months wouldn’t be on the top of my list, but sacrifices must be made.

  12. I started playing video games back in the Super Nintendo days.  My first “console” that I actually owned was a DS. Prior to that I just played on other peoples’ systems.  It wasn’t until I got a Xbox 360 that I truly got into playing games.  I prefer RPGs as I am a big fan of Dragon Age.  I have played all of them twice, except Inquisition, because, well, 160 hours is a big commitment.  I also enjoy shooters.  I may not be the best at them but my skills are improving. I am also a huge fan of Tomb Raider.  I played most of the older games on either Steam or the 360. The reboot series is my favourite so far.  I have been told so many times to play Uncharted, yet I don’t have a Playstation nor do I have friends who have one.  Let’s face it, even though I may not be a hard-core gamer, I am the biggest gamer in my circle.  So I would love the opportunity to play Uncharted4.  (Warning GOT reference loading). Winter is coming (eventually) and I could use some new games to kill the time (while killing some pixels).  Happy Gaming!

  13. I have been gaming since the very beginning, when Pong came out way back in the Seventies; I even owned the home version. Systems that followed include the Atari 2600, ColecoVision, NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), Sega Genesis, Super NES, Gameboy, the Nintendo Wii, Playstation, Playstation 2, and Playstation 3. That’s not mentioning endless computer gaming on the Commodore 64, Amiga 500, and finally the PC. Lastly, evolving to portable gaming on my IPad Mini and cellular phone. And who can forget the countless hours and quarters spent at the local arcade trying out the hottest games before they were ported to the home systems. Memorable games for me include the Pacman, Mario Bros., Gauntlet, Street Fighter, Civilization, Grand Theft Auto, and Gran Turismo franchises, and in particular I fondly remember such unique games such as The Secret of Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, Leisure Suit Larry, Lemmings, Tetris, and Golden Axe. Recalling all the games, I have played over the years, reminded me how much I love the gaming medium, and how much more it is capable of in the future. I need a new system to continue following the evolution of gaming and experience the latest, exciting innovations in the gaming world. I know the possibilities are endless.

  14. @BBYMartin Okay so today is the last day, so I have to fit in all the other years.

After receiveing said NES I managed to become a star in Exciteback and went on to some travelling competiotion where I came in 2nd in all of Ontario.

Later in life when I got a SNES I spent counteless hours playing my brother in Street Fighter and NBA JAM. I actually entered a contest in Gamepro magazine for NBA JAM and came in 1st in North America…those were good times.

Of course in between there was Turbografx, Sega Genesis, NeoGeo, PS1, PS2, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360 and now onto the latest generation of consoles.

But the one constant that remained was my friends and family as we played for hours and created memories…

Now I’d like that to continue with my family and me as the Patriarch, but of course, I also want to beat those little snots….

    Thank you #RoadtoE3

  15. I’ve been a gamer for a good 30 years and I remember as a young kid opening my Christmas present of an Nintendo entertainment system with the ROB robot.  Didn’t use ROB much but I sure enjoyed my NES.  Metroid, Super Mario Bros 3 and Legend of Zelda were my  favorites on that system.   There was no turning back after that.  When Street Fighter 2 came out for the Super Nintendo, my friends and played that for hours on end by doing tournaments.  Great game!   I still loved Nintendo but bought a Sony playstation over a Nintendo 64 back in the late nineties.  I remember seeing Wipeout for the first time and being floored by its graphics.   Same with Gran Turismo, couldn’t have enough of that game with hundreds of cars you can play with.

I’ve gotten a new system with each new generation and I have a Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 at the moment which I both love.  This industry has given me tons of hours of entertainment but now’s the time to hopefully win a new console since some friends have an Xbox one and are constantly talking about the awesome graphics and great games, especially Overwatch which I hear is terrific.

  16. Being born in 1990, I pretty much grew up in the golden age of video games. From NES to PS3 I have owned and played pretty much every major system. I have yet to purchase this Gen’s console and have been missing out greatly on this. Hard to afford a new system since the baby came and moving to a new province so we are adjusting financially with this move. A new system would be one of the most exciting moments of my life. These new consoles that are out seem like the best group yet and I cannot wait to be a part of this new generation of consoles! I am hoping I can be that lucky someone to win a console.

  17. @BBYC_GamersClub #RoadtoE3 I have not been gaming for that long, I only started about five years ago and basically my son has been gamming since he was six and he is now 18 so 12 years, I have always watched him and played with him but only with his guideance, I really enjoy it and what I like the best is that there are so many games that I can play myself without any help, I love the Xbox one which we have and also the regular xbox, I started first with a game boy and from then i acutally really liked it I look forward to the new games and getting the deals and all the exciting announcments xbox makes and gets me so excited, it helps me also get tired at night if I can not sleep. Its nice to have lots of games when company comes over and then we can have a compitition, Of course my son always wins because he is a pro and usually beats us with in the first fifteen minutes. I am looking forward to the new summer games and I guess I am a grammer now, but really fairly new. thanks for the change to win a wonderful game set from best buy

  18. Ive been gaming for about 20 years or so but I don’t want to win this for me, I would love to win this for my husband who has been gaming since he was about 5! He’s played so many games and systems but lately we’ve fallen on hard times and unable to afford the newer systems. Our Xbox 360 had the ring of death and the PS3 stopped working. To be able to help him and win a system for him would be beyond wondeful and something I hope I can do someday! #RoadtoE3

  19. I’ve been gaming for decades and I need a new system to keep up with the ever increasing changes that happen in the industry.  I started on pong when I was just a child, moved to an Atari 2600, played on my friends Colleco Visions and Intelivisions.  Tried NES, Super NES, N64, Xbox, Play Station, PS2, PS3 etc etc etc.  Some I bought into died and some should live forever.  I hate the companies that don’t allow thier old stuff to be used on hteir new stuff.  It should be adapt and grow not cut and burn.  Some new games are great, others are rip offs.  After decades of playing them I still list some the older games as the ones I want to keep playing again and again.  Pitfall II still has an appeal that I can’t seem to shake.  Paper Mario is one that you can go back to again and again. Some of the Final Fantasy can be revisited constantly.  The classic Donkey Kong has a certain allure.  The LEGO collection is addictive with the campiness and random destruction of just about everything that makes it the go to sellection when I’m feeling grumpy.  Nothing beats an action which cuases all of the characters in the middle of a fight to suddenly start dancing together.  Now if they could just get the split screen systems to work so that I am not distracted by the stuff on the other screens or two player games have the movement limited due to dual input then all would be right with the world.  To win would be so nece.

  20. I have been gaming since I was 5 years old. I started off with Atari, when my brother received it as a gift, and at the same time I used to play Commodore at my friend’s house.

My best memories are of Sonic the Hedgehog when it first came out on Sega Genesis. I remember staying up all night to finish Zelda back in the days. Never got chance to play Nintendo 64 but the first time I saw PlayStation 1, I was blown away.  I still remember when I took a day off from school to stand in line outside Best Buy starting at 9pm day before release date of Playstation 2, I played Tekken Tag Tournament all day without taking a break, great day. Gaming has been a great part of my life as it reminds me of all the times I have spent with my friends and family. I currently own Nintendo Wii U and enjoying that a lot when my friends come over, still keeping the old Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 but they are collecting dust, waiting to join the new generation of players by getting my hands on Playstation 4 and or Xbox One.

  21. I have been gaming since 1979 when I was a teenager. Our family started with an Intellivision home console and later we bought an Atari.  After that came the Nintendo 6. We played Super Mario, Donkey Kong and Tetris.  Our family always enjoyed challenging each other.  I believe the next console we bought was a PlayStation.

We upgraded to PlayStation 2 and then bought many games for it. Our favorite games on our PS2 were Resident Evil, Splinter Cell, Socum II, and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.  We played these games for hours on many nights.  Funny how fast the time goes when you’re gaming.

Since then we have not upgraded our console. It would be great to have a PS4 or an Xbox One.  There are many games went want to buy if we had an upgraded console, like Tom Clancy’s The Division.

Would love to get the games Bloodborne and Batman: Arkham Knight some day.

My nieces and nephews like to come over and play as well.

  23. I’ve been playing since I was about 4 i guess. Now we have games like Assassin’s creed and Call of Duty. So many different ways to play games and styles of graphics and gameplay. Now we have Xbox One and PS4, neither of which I have and both I know I’d love and enjoy countless hours playing on. Videogames are amazing things and they’re only getting better and I can’t wait to create even more memories with them. Maybe one day I’ll be teaching my kids how defeat Bowser or how it doesn’t matter that we never see Master Cheif’s face, that’s just another thing that makes him awesome. I hope I win this contest!!!

  24. I have a relatively short history in gaming. I was not allowed to have any gaming consoles growing up and I remember always wanting the chance to borrow my friend’s Nintendo Gameboy or go over to my cousin’s house to play some Mario. When I got to university, I knew I had to focus on school so I did not buy any gaming consoles for myself. I have pretty bad restraint when it comes to gaming! When I finally got my first job, I immediately bought myself a Nintendo DS and various Nintendo games. I bought a stack of games –I had a lifetime of gaming to catch up on afterall! I bought more games to play on my sister’s Wii, my favourite being Paper Mario. A few years later, I also invested in a PS3, which opened up another world of gaming. The games had great graphics and great storylines. With the new releases of the Xbox One and PS4, I think it’s time to get a new console. I would love the chance to expand my gaming horizons with a brand new console and brand new games!

  25. I have been gaming since I was five years old and received a neon green Nintendo 64 gaming system for Christmas. It was the best Christmas gift ever and it did take my dad and me a little while to get it figured out. I have certainly spent a lot of time and money on gaming systems since then.  I loved playing Donkey Kong and Mario Brothers with my sister for hours on end. Once I outgrew the Nintendo 64 I moved on to a PlayStation 3, then to an Xbox and on to an Xbox 360. I have accumulated quite a large collection of games and accessories and have kept everything stored in my basement. I have never sold nor traded any of my games. I have had a lot of great times playing many different games with my friends and I spent a lot of hours playing Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty. Those games sure a far cry from the days of Donkey Kong and Mario Brothers. Now it is time to move forward again to an Xbox One and get some more games to add to my collection. I am really looking forward to playing Grand Theft Auto 5 and Black Ops.

  26. My journey into gaming all happened by luck, well to be frank it was more the luck of my Grandmother. In 1986 she won a Nintendo NES and needless to say she had no idea what to do with this “box”. Through the heartfelt pleads of my twin brother and myself she relented the magical “box” and we were off! Set on a path with no saves we marathoned through countless games together in a quest to rule them all. Neither of us have stopped gaming since.

Now that we are both much older (30’s) and geographically we are separated I am in a need of a new generation update to once again join my twin bother in a quest to rule them all but this time with an ability to save progress and hopefully with a little more sleep.

  27. I could really benefit from a new console as my current system is on its last few miles and I really like the PS4 exclusives as well some of the new consoles titles like current game The Division which comes in this amazing package as well Ghost Recon in the future. I currently and foreseeable do not have the funds for this as I am diagnosed with a chronic mental health disorder, bipolar. I use video games to give me a break from my mind when I am ill and it lets me focus on something rather than nothing or too much depending on my mood. This console would mean so much to me and provide a therapeutic release as well as a lot of fun of course. I always go to best buy for my electronic needs but I need to save for a new computer for school as a first priority, I also must feed myself, albeit my parents do help with that! I know each entree is a draw but I really hope I see that winning email from best buy, it would mean so much to me. I also use my console to keep in touch with friends that live away from me but without a newer console I can’t do that, I know there’s things called phones but gaming and talking is way more fun I think we can all agree. I also need a new phone but that’s a future contest! Kidding! I will continue to support Best Buy for my electronic needs as they offer great customer service exemplified by contests like these.

  28.

well i am a true gammer and started when I was about 30 with pac man and now I am in my 50s, I love gamming, it helps me stay calm and relaxing, I usually will come home from work and then play and it actualy helps me to get into my zen I have enjoyed getting together at parties and playing games with friends and family that is really nice to do also, I look forward to playing on line and that way I can play with my son who lves in another town,   @BBYC_GamersClub #RoadtoE3 is a great way to get everyone in volved in trying to win a great game and entertainment unit, I know some families do not like it when their kids, game but it actually keeps them off the street and out of trouble, I have always believed that kids who game and adults fill their mind with lots of things to remember and actually stimulate your brain, I am not sure who ever said gaming was bad but it is not, I have gamed so much that I can actually go to bed and then be excited for a day its raining or i have a day off to play my game, so glad you are having this giveaway, I am crossing my fingers thanks

  29. Like many of the others here, I have been a huge gamer my entire life.  I started with a 4 colour (CGA) PC and eventually transitioned to console gaming when the SNES came out.  Now I still play both PC and console games, but I have yet to buy a PS4.  That is next on my list though, mostly due to some of the incredible exclusives they have!

  30. Hello, I am the parent of an avid gamer and today is my son’s birthday (June 13) and what a great gift a PlayStation 4 Console and games plus the $100 Best Buy gift card would be for him!  He has been gaming since he was six or seven years old (he’s 31 today!!) and back them we bought the original Nintendo console and games.  He would spend hours playing on it.  Eventually, he had most of the game consoles that came along including the Super Nintendo Entertainment system, Ninteno 64, GameCube, Wii, X-Box, X-Box 360, Xbox One and many of the handheld gaming systems.  The first handheld system that I can remember we bought him was a GameBoy.  We went on a summer vacation for 3 weeks when he was about, flew to Vancouver and rented a car for three weeks and drove across British Columbia to Alberta and back.  We didn’t have any satellite radio at that time and radio reception driving through the mountains was nil so he played that GameBoy almost non-stop the entire trip while we were driving in the car.  He absolutely loved it!  He also had over the years a Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, PlayStation and PlayStation Portable so indeed he is a gamer at heart.  I’d love to win this prize to make his birthday extra special today.

  31. My parents brought us up with video games, I don’t remember not having a system. We had the Atari in the closet, and grew up playing the original Nintendo until Sega Genesis came out. Our family had a few systems throughout my 25 years, but I would love to get back into gaming. It was how I once defined myself, but due to money and university I have gotten away from my love of games. I took a game theory course in university that reignited my gaming interest and am dying to play a ton of the amazing games Playstation has coming out including “The Last Guardian” and “Horizon Zero Dawn.” I am excited to someday share the tradition of gaming as a family with my future children as my parents did with me. The really incredible thing is that there are now a lot more games with female lead characters and they are actually starting to make some that are respectable characters for young female gamers to emulate!

Help me get a new system so that I can be the heroine I dreamt about being as a child.

  32. I still recall playing my first computer game on my uncle’s Tandy CoCo3.  I was so fascinated by it that I did not mind the time it took for the tape to rewind and load.

Lot’s of fun games since then.  Who can forget Nintendo Cave-Man Olympics, Tetris/Welltris or even Loderunner?

I would love to win a new gaming console so I can continue the gaming fun with the next generation of family.  What a great way to connect with family when we are all on the same team fighting an alien invasion, each from the comfort of our own comfy chairs.

Thanks for the opportunity to win a new console.

  33. I’ve been gaming for 5 years now, only on a PC. I need a new gaming console as I’ve never owned one! Thank you for this wonderful contest.

  34. I’ve been gaming since I was really young. I remember I didn’t have the first consoles and had to go over to my friend’s place or sometimes my relatives’ place to play the original Nintendo. Then the next generation came and we finally bought a Sega Genesis. I remember spending hours on this system playing the Sonic the Hedgehog games, straight through. Sonic Spinball became a popular game at our house. The competing system at the time was the Super Nintendo, and although we didn’t have that system, I still liked the Super Mario games and Super Mario Kart.

The next few generations, we decided to switch brands. We got the Sony Playstation because it was very popular and it was Sony’s first entrance into the gaming scene. The Playstation had so many good games that it would take so long to go through all of them. For the next generation we moved onto the Nintendo Gamecube, and that wasn’t very popular. Most recently, I owned an Xbox 360 and it was a big move up from the Gamecube. The Xbox 360 is the last system I owned and do not have any of the new generation systems, so I’m hoping I can win one here!

  35. I remeber the first day i got a gaming systme. It may not have been as early as most but it was still special for me. It was my 1st grade birthday at about 7 years old, of course I did not get the system for myself as I had to share it with my brother who was two years older, you could imagine how much I got to use it. It was a brand new playstation 2 with an extra controller so I could play with my brother where our first game was the first Ratchet and Clank. Unfortunately it was only a single player game so it was sometime before we got to play together. Nevertheless I fell in love with the Ratchet and Clank series after that game. I remember when we first got the game we weren’t given a memory card with it so we had to keep restarting the game everytime we turned the system off. Of course it was also the only gift between the two of us so we weren’t given any gift cards to buy one forcing us to wait until christmas in december where our birthdays were at the beginning of march. I could not tell you how many time we played the first three levels trying to get further and further but never being able to.

Eventually we would save up giftcards, as we were not allowed to spend gifted cash as it was always directly deposited to our bank accounts, an buy newer games. My childhood would consit of the Ratchet and Clank games up to deadlock (the fourth one), Starwars battlefront 2, along with numerous of hours playing with our cousins, and Kingdom of hearts 1 and 2. Now I know what you are thinking, that is a small amount of games. The reason was that my parents hated video games and so we were forced to save up giftcards from birthdays and christmas which you could imagine took a while.

Soon the Playstation 2 would become outdated and we would need a new system. My brother and I were not old enough for jobs so we faced an conundrum , how to we buy a new system? It took 3 years of saving giftcards again until we finally got our next system, the xbox 360. Our first game of course being halo 3. I was quite sad after buying the 360 because although we got to play great games like the gears of wars series, also one of my favourites, and Halo, we were never able to follow up on our childhood series Ratchet and Clank. From there I would discover the world of fallout 3 and video game would forever be changed for me sinking countless hours into that game always wanting to play some way different but ending up doing the exact same thing.

This bundle will help re-kindle my old video game  ways and bring me back to ratchet and clank as well as Star wars battlefront 3. It would be an amazing thing to win and thank you.

  36. I have been gaming since I was young. It started with your classic games like Mario, Duck Hunt, Kirby, and Legend of Zelda. Next up was Sega and the games that will forever remind me of my childhood, such as Sonic. Sonic Spinball was my all time favorite Sonic, though for some reason I had better skills as a child as I struggle to get anywhere near as far in it today as I did then!! I admittedly took a bit of a break from video games for a few years, however when I turned 16 I was introduced to Star Ocean which set flame to my love for RPGS. I continued on to Final Fantasy (IX was my first, and my favorite game EVER!). I now play mostly RPG’s such as Final Fantasy and MMORPG’s such as World of Warcraft. We could use a new system because we don’t currently have an X-Box system beyond the 360, and not only that but then I could also play at the same time as my boyfriend, as he usually ends up wanting to play something on the PlayStation at the same time I do! We just bought our first house and this would make the perfect addition to our family room.

  37. I have been gaming ever since the original nintendo I enjoy all the classics such as duck hunt, super mario, donkey kong, super smash brothers along with alot of the new stuff like call of duty and the newer sports games. As life goes on there are unfortunately other items that seem to take priority to spend money on such as food and rent and I have not had a new console since a playstation 3, this would be an absolutely incredible prize and help me get back into gaming! i love best buy and pretty much every type of gaming and this prize would just be the best.

  38. Daily entry for June 13

Like I said yesterday I remember starting to game with my dad at 3 years old and have many fond memories playing Star Wars Empire Strikes Back on Atari and Super Mario and Super Mario 3 on NES. I went on to love Sonic and play all the Sonic games on Sega Genesis until I received my N64. I was a huge Nintendo fan for the longest time until I started really getting into the Playstation franchise. I played tons of PS1 and PS2 games at my friends houses and then finally purchased a PS3 which opened up my world as an adult in gaming. I really want to share those fond memories with my own kids on a new generation console and know it would really bring us together as a family. They are beginning to really get the hang of Little Big Planet’s beginning levels and they love playing the different Playstation Move games. I know that we could really benefit by playing together on a new console.

  39. Gaming has been an very active part of my day since I was very young. The love began when both my sister and I used to crowd around the TV when we received our first PS2. We would spend countless hours playing games such as Battlefront 1 and 2, NHL, and countless more. Video games also proved to be a way for me to get in touch with friends from school, where we would speak about the different experiences we had with different games.
I still do love to game, and all the new games on the market entice my tastes, but I have yet to purchase a PS4. I would absolutely love to finish the uncharted series on a brand new PS4.
This seems like an amazing opportunity, and I will he happy for anyone lucky enough to win. Good luck everyone, and happy gaming.

  40. I have been gaming for as long as I can remember. I remember sitting down playing what I think was ping pong on some sort of console lol. it was the simplist game with a joystick and no graphics like now lol. I have an immense love for RPGs, I think it started when zelda came out for nintendo. Since then I have been hooked upgrading to the newest console when one came out because gof forbid I can’t play the newest RPG! Then came Final Fantasy oh god that was a whole new can of worms and type of console so now I was upgrading two consoles all the time. Finaly I found The elder scrolls XBOX <3 love love love it! I now have a problem though , I am married with kids and I cannot justify upgrading oe the XBOX one Smiley Sad Did you see all the new games advertised at E3??? I NEED to upgrade and winning this contest will give me the opportunity to try new games and be so very very happy!!

  41. I have been gaming for 30 years! I started with Pong and moved onto Pac Man when I started going to video arcades with my friends. I have such an appreciation for how far technology has come and how incredibly real the graphics are today, but I still like to play all the retro games. Playing Centipede always gave me a thrill. And once my family got an Atari set at home I got hooked on other classic games like Space Invaders. I think there was a year I almost exclusively played Asteroids. I loved flying through space and destroying everything in my path. I have fond memories of attending birthday parties’ at video arcades including my own. It seemed like a simpler time. Today my nephew has started to game and I enjoy playing with him. He has an older version of a PlayStation and I would love to win this prize to give him an updated console. I see hours and hours of gaming fun in our future and I would like to provide him with the best gaming experience. My nephew has a real fascination with computers and gaming and I think he will love the new PlayStation and Xbox console and the variety of games.

  42. Hello! I started gaming on the PC & Nintendo console when I was a little girl. It started with my Dad as he would play Super Mario or TMNT with me and then introduced me to DOOM AND I fell in love. I would rip & tear through hours on our floppy disk eating computer, haha. Then I played liked everybody else on the SNES and N64 but when I really got serious into modern day gaming was when I started dating my boyfriend (now husband) Mike. DOOM 3 was released the August long weekend of 2004 and that’s when we officially started dating.  Mike asked if I would like to play & I happily agreed! This was my first Xbox experience. This lead to tiresome hours of struggle learning this new controller & modern type of gaming. A few years went by and we bought the PS3 & I was sold. This was a console for me and I started playing games splitscreen with my hubby as it made him happy and that made me happy. Then I got good and the competition was on like Donkey Kong! Now I was hooked and I had some decent skill. I now needed to play for my own enjoyment and was lined up to buy the PS4 on opening midnight release & haven’t put the controller down since. I would love to win this PS4 console bundle as games aren’t being made splitscreen coop anymore and have leaned to a multi-player online form. With two consoles my hubby & I could play together again like we used too and I would love to be able to sit side by side on the couch and game with him. Like in our wedding vows, couples that game together stay together!

Thanks you for this opportunity and what a great idea!!

  43. To load another game, we turned the computer off, then back on again, and typed the new game in. Getting a tape drive was amazing! I remember meeting the President of Commodore back around that time. I went to his house and watched 2001, a Space Odyssey. I was reluctant at first always trying to find the one player option for him but he was persistent and always preferred to game with company. It wasn’t long before I was out researching other gaming consoles and games out of my own interest. I think the Xbox and PlayStation consoles and games are the best options out there and I would love to own one to game with my son. I have such an appreciation for the gorgeous cinema-esque graphics being used today and love the new multi-player capabilities. I thought this was the coolest thing ever! I think it’s time for an upgrade, which is why I’m entering this contest  and id also love to play with my friends that already have a PS4.

  44. I have only been gaming for a couple of years. I am a late starter by comparison to your online community. I never gamed as a child as my family never purchased any gaming consoles. I never knew what I was missing nor did I know that I would like gaming until my son asked for a Wii for Christmas. His love of gaming was instant and I was reluctant. But my son was persistent and I played more and more over time. It wasn’t long before I found myself playing without him after he had gone to sleep. And soon I was out researching other gaming consoles and games that I thought I would be more interest in playing. I think the Xbox and PlayStation consoles and games are the best options out there and I would love to own one to game with my son. I have such an appreciation for the incredibly real graphics being used today and love the new multi-player capabilities. I only wish I discovered gaming earlier. I would love to surprise my son with a new console and games. There are many good reasons PlayStation and Xbox are the top franchises, not the least of which is hours upon hours of fun family gameplay.

  45. My gaming days are kind of behind me but by now I guess that you’ve figured out that I really want to win an Xbox for my son, one that I will never, ever attempt to vacuum or dust again. I was gaming since the first systems came out, seriously, I can hear you laughing, but can you imagine growing up without video games, without remotes on your tv and phones that were wired into the wall. My boys don’t even realize that I grew up in a different world, that I was around at the start and they don’t realize how lucky they are to have had gaming since they were quite young. I really don’t do much gaming although I do love it, I have my reasons,  my boys laugh at me…it’s so embarrassing and I’m super busy and I just can’t find the time and at this point, like I said,  we don’t have a working unit, and yes, that is my fault, I thought that my sons Xbox looked dusty and picked it up off the shelf to vacuum it and dropped it. My son is upset and no one in the family can game till I replace it. I did go to the mall to pick one up but one thing led to another and I forgot what I was shopping for, got some nice sandals though. That iis another reason,  I am shopping when I could be gaming. I’ve warned my son that when I do replace his Xbox, I will be gaming more and that I would appreciate them not laughing at me so much, he just laughed at that. Thanks for the great contest! Fingers crossed, good luck to all!

  46. Been playing games off and on for at least 25 years – have a PS2 now and would love to upgrade.  The family would be thrilled to try their hands on a new gaming system and the awesome games that are available.  Gaming is for all ages, male or female too, and is a terrific way to spend time with friends and family.  How exciting it would be to present this amazing prize to the family!

  47. Final day entry! So to re-cap again again again . . again again, I’ve been gaming since the 80s. And so far, I’ve talked about the Atari 2600, NES, Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Super NES. The next system I had was a Playstation 1 passed down from my cousin. I also inherited several games, but the only two I ever played were Final Fantasy 7 and 8. That was more than enough to give me my very first Fail in a class in my life . . I was so entranced by those two games and wanting to know what happened next, that I could barely crack open the textbook! So after that, I distanced myself from gaming for many years to make sure I kept my grades up, until finally, I caved and bought a Gamecube when I heard about that Dance Dance Mario game. I thought it would be a great workout motivator for me, and it was, for about a month and then I started getting bored of jumping on imaginary koopas through my dancepad. But I did continue gaming on my computer, playing some of the new online games like Tetris Friends and revisiting childhood favourites like those Sierra quest games. But right now, my computer is getting really slow and my game systems are outdated by 10+ years, so it would be great to win one of these prizes so I can catch up to some of the latest and greatest!

  48. I’ve been playing since I was about 4 i guess.

  49. Thank you everyone who participated in Best Buy’s Road to E3 contest. All of the blog entries were amazing!  For each prize during the contest we pooled the entries from all methods and randomly selected the winners. Not surprisingly, the vast majority of entries (by a huge margin) came from Twitter, so all of the Road to E3 winners also happened to enter on Twitter:

Surprise prizes of games (like Doom and The Division) and gaming consoles were awarded to participants on both Twitter and on the blog to help celebrate the fun of E3.  Of course E3 is still ongoing and we still have many prizes. So keep checking your Twitter feeds and your blog account for messages from the Best Buy gaming team. You never know, you may still win a great game or a fantastic new console.

Lastly: we have many more great contests coming up on the blog so keep following Plug in so you don’t miss out.
