Sony has been a leader in home and personal audio for decades. I’ve been listening on Sony products for most of my life (I even owned a bright yellow Sony Sport Walkman years ago). My taste in music has changed (slightly) but Sony quality has not. However, the range of Sony audio products is huge; you may have trouble deciding which one to get for your home next!. Well, since September is Home Theatre Month at Best Buy, we think it’s a great time to give Canadians a chance to win some of the fantastic Sony audio products that may be on their wish-lists. We have two contests offering Sony Audio prizes in progress this month. In this contest, I have one combination prize of a Sony receiver and turntable. See below for the link to our other contests at Best Buy.

Which audio component is next on your wish-list

In life we all have to make choices. Some choices are harder than others. For example, you may have a hard time deciding which of the recent viral shark songs you like best: Baby Shark or Reggae Shark (I’m leaning toward Baby Shark myself; I can’t help but smile when I watch it!).

Think for a second about your home audio system and the components that it’s lacking. Which new audio component is first on your list? You may have a stack of records that you can’t play, so a turntable may be next. Alternatively, you may realize that a turntable will be useless without a great receiver and amplifier to carry the signal from the turntable to your speakers. Just like trying to decide which of the above videos you like best, it’s a dilemma!

Which Sony audio component do you need in your home

In his review of this receiver and turntable, Brad Moon discusses that someone just getting into vinyl or wanting to get an entry level player for his old LPs would be well served by the Sony PS-LX300USB turntable. It’s easy to setup and use, and has the added benefit of USB connectivity so you can connect it to a PC and convert your vinyl recordings to MP3. He also pointed out that pairing this turntable with Sony’s STR-DH190 receiver is a solid choice. This receiver comes with Bluetooth support so you can stream music from your phone through the receiver.

Now, if you had to choose, which one would you prefer to get first for your home: the turntable or the receiver. One lucky person will not have to worry—the person who wins this contest will get both!

HOW TO ENTER

Entering this contest is easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below this article, tell us which you would prefer for your home: the Sony turntable or the Sony receiver and why. If you want, you can also weigh in on the other tough choice discussed above: Reggae Shark or Baby Shark.

WHAT YOU CAN WIN

At the end of the contest we will select one winner to receive both Sony audio components: the Sony PS-LX300USB turntable and the Sony STR-DH190 receiver.

This contest will run from Sept 12th until Sept 25th.

Remember you can only enter once. However, you can tell your friends and family about this awesome contest. You could even strike a deal saying, “let’s split the prize and whoever wins gets first choice.” At the very least you can introduce them to those two shark videos above!

  1. The Sony PS-LX300USB turntable. It’s supposed to be easy to setup and use, and has a USB connectivity so you can connect it to a PC and convert your vinyl recordings to MP3.

  2. I so need a turn table, have some newer vinyl i haven’t been able to play. Since my old unit piled up. 30+yr old plastic on the are got so brittle.

  3. I would love the Sony turntable! I have been thinking of buying a turntable and beginning to collect all the albums that were special to me in my youth.

  4. We were recently gifted a bunch of old vinyls, so the turntable would be handiest. And in my humble opinion, although somewhat dark, Baby Shark is far better than Reggae Shark.

  5. I have old records. My Dad has old records. It would be great to put on a record again and listen to some old vinyl, skips, hisses, pops and crackles along with that warm sound.

  6. I would definitely take the turntable, top replace my old worn-out direct drive tt. I have over 500 records in my collection, and I’m unable to play them because my turntable doesn’t work.
Oh, and the Reggae Shark video is my pick

  7. Ah, a turntable! Brings back memories of playing LP’s well into the night. I bet the Sony system will provide way better sound even when I use my old LP’s!

  8. I’ve been using contact cleaner on the knobs of my receiver for months just so I can listen to music but it hasn’t worked and I think it is time to pull the plug and replace it. Clearly, the receiver would help me out big time!

  9. The turntable for sure! I’ve always wanted to use one so I’d definitely spend a lot of time figuring it out 🙂

  10. I would love to own the Sony turntable since we are starting to buy records again and this would be a great way to listen to them!

  11. I’ve been itching to start a vinyl collection, and what better way to start than with a turntable? So the turntable gets my vote! Also, Baby Shark. And it’s not even close. My girlfriend is a kindergarten teacher and that song and video is like catnip to her kids.

  12. I would like the Sony turntable more because I have a lot of old records I haven’t been able to play since my last player broke down.

  13. Recently found a collection of old vinyl while clearing our a family member’s home and currently don’t have a turntable. Would be awesome to convert some of them to listen to in other formats using the USB feature.

  14. Obviously the Sony turntable, so I can listen to all my mother’s old vinyl and talk music with her, since I discovered she actually has a great taste in music, after I found a number of BB King singles and a Muddy Waters EP. And after confronting her about it, discovered there is a huge library of old rock & roll and Blues records to sift through.

  15. I would have to pick the turntable…I have all those old lps sitting somewhere that I’ve never had heart to give maybe I’d be able to finally hear them again and relive the 70’s!

  16. I would take the receiver because I just put in some in wall speakers downstairs but I can’t use them without a receiver.
