Best Buy has toys that create memories today for nostalgia tomorrow. Because toys are more than just playthings; they are sources of endless fun for all ages, and for adults they are bridges to the past. From the moment we grasp our first teddy bear as a child to the many times we nostalgically look back at our favourite childhood playthings, toys are integral to life. Explore some of the newest toys at Best Buy today, that will build memories to last a lifetime, then enter to win one of twelve fantastic toy bundles.

Toys create memories: the foundation of who we are

From the moment we’re born, toys become a part of our world. They are companions, teachers, and sources of comfort. As children, we assign personalities to our toys, embark on imaginary adventures with them, and even confide our deepest secrets to our plush friends.

For me, the stories I created while playing with cars and figurines established a love of storytelling and a love of writing. Remember the toy car that sparked your interest in automobiles? Or the doll that was your inseparable friend during those long summer days? These toys are not just objects; they are the building blocks of our childhood memories. They remind us of simpler times, filled with wonder, curiosity, and unbridled joy. The memories they created helped shape what we can do, what we know about the world—helped shape the adults we have become.

Toy nostalgia is a bridge to bygone days

There is one great scene in the second Tim Allan Santa Clause movie where a boring staff Christmas party is transformed into a fantastic, memorable night for all (in the film and in the theatre watching the film) thanks to a sackful of nostalgic toys like Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots. There is no denying that toys can transport us back to our childhood, evoking a flood of emotions and memories. The scent of an old teddy bear, the familiar tune of a musical toy, or the worn-out pages of a childhood book can stir feelings of nostalgia. You’ll need to draw on some of those memories as you enter this contest.

The new toys that we are giving away in this contest will do for our children what toys did for us. They’ll help them learn about things, help them learn to socialize, etc. Many years from now, the toys you find at Best Buy today will evoke moments of nostalgia for our children. Here are the brands that provided toys for this year’s holiday toy contest. Learn about them, and click on the brand to see some of the best toys and games that 2023 has to offer.

  1. The droyd makes me nostalgic and reminds me of riding my pink plastic four wheel ATV as a kid. Thank you for the chance!

  2. When i was a kid I had a “bouncemobile” which allowed me to bonce all over the house and yard. This Droyd Romper Ride-On toy Electric Bike brings back those memories.

  4. The classic board games like monopoly and risk remind me of childhood
the 3doodler looks really cool, (which reminds me of spirograph) and would love to give to my son

  5. The stomp Rocket Stunt Plane reminds me of the old balsa wood gliders that I threw for hours before graduating to the rubber band wind up.

  7. Love the Gel Plastic Warer Gun which makes me smile remembering my brother and I shooting and arguing who had the best gun

  8. The stomp rocket reminds me of the lawn darts my parents let us play with at the cottage. We always had a lawn dart tournament with the kids. I have no idea how anyone thought that was safe.

  9. The Hasbro Yahtzee Dice Game reminded me of when we would play this game with family on those wintery nights.

  10. It’s actually funny because the game “Mouse Trap” came out when I was young. It’s been updated and the box looks different from when I was young but it’s still the same game! I never owned it myself, but my friend did and whenever I went over to their place, it was the game we would play for hours!!

  11. The Toy Shock Vanity Barbie set reminds me of our old Barbie sets and all the little combs, makeup mirrors and other accessories that we were always losing. I had one of the Barbie dolls passed down from my aunt and it was close to being the original doll from the late 1950s. My daughter played with that same doll and the original clothing.

  12. oh my that 3Doodler printing pen really reminds me of Spirograph. My sisters and I would play with that for hours on end and we loved it so much that my parents bought another one so we had 2 to share between us 3 girls. We just loved it. reminds me so much of that.

  13. The “Stomp Rocket” reminds me of a toy I had as a child which was a tube meant to look like a rocket.
It was in two parts, you would put the cardboard capsule on top of the hollow tube then pull down and the air being compressed in the tube would launch the capsule.

  14. Definitely HASBRO scrabble, still play it with my hubby, and love the Junior Scrabble to play with our grandkids

  18. Monopoly Junior – Super Mario Edition reminds me of the classic original monopoly that we would play for full days during snow days. Great memories

  19. 3Doodler, reminds me of my Spirograph. I remember spending hours making posters for my room in the 60’s

  20. Droyd Romper Ride-On Toy Electric Bike reminds me of the the ones we had for our sons back in the 80’s. They were made by Fisher Price and the kids enjoyed zipping up and down the laneway but they certainly weren’t as elaborate as the Droyd Romper Electric Bike. Love it!

  21. The new toy 3Doodler, reminds me of my Spirograph – I loved the creativity that was allowed with my Spirograph and it felt like the possibilities were endless at the time.

  22. The Lego Star Wars Darth Vader helmet reminds of the countless hours spent with a mix of older Lego sets building people and places sometimes at the same time as my Knex kits. Loved the adventure of building things and combining with Knex or some Hot Wheels to add speed.

  23. The Game of Life Board Game reminds me of…The Game of Life Board Game! Played it all the time with my parents growing up. Such great times.

  24. The 3 D Doodler Pen reminds me so much of etch a sketch that I got to play with when I visited my friend. I loved it.
