How easy is to use an Osmo Mobile smartphone stabilizer?

The Osmo Mobile smartphone stabilizer series are known for their ease of set up and for providing an inexpensive, easy to use way to shoot professional looking videos with just your smartphone. You know the problem we all have with phone videos: they are jittery, lose focus of the subject, etc. Capturing steady always-on-point videos by holding a phone in your hand is not easy. Mount the phone in an Osmo and suddenly a whole world of videography opens up. The gimble and software can keep the subject in the center of the field of view no matter if your hand is shaking or bouncing around. Imagine you are filming a lightning storm from a moving car on a bumpy road; with your smartphone in an Osmo Mobile the image is perfectly stable. It really does all the work; you just hold it in your hand and decide what to shoot.

DJI has created an amazing technology that keeps getting better with each iteration. Erin mentioned in her review of the Osmo Mobile 3 that the new features in that version made it more versatile. What will the Osmo Mobile 4 offer?

I am writing this article before the Osmo Mobile 4 launches, so I don’t know what incredible features it will have. I did send one to reviewers for an in-depth article about it; but, the reviews aren’t ready yet (I’ll add a link here as soon as the review goes live). You, however, are reading this contest article just after the launch. So, the first thing you need to do is to go to the product page that also just went live and read about the features of the new Osmo Mobile 4, then come back here and enter the contest.

  36. I’m interested in the quick roll feature. I think that has a lot of interesting applications. I’m also interested in the DJI ActiveTrack 3.0 feature. I’m looking for an option to film my upcoming wedding and I think with all the features the DJI OM4 includes it could make filming easy for one of my friends to do for us.

    The magnetic quick mount is compatible with most smartphones on the market and lets you effortlessly capture all sorts of still images and video on your camera, this is a must a quick connect for your phone sounds great, less worry about the phone falling from the holder when it is magnetic.

  45. My son and I are building an off-road go kart. The Osmo mobile would be great for chronicling the build – especially with gesture recognition to allow us to film without our dirty hands on the camera. The ActiveTrack should be great once we get to the testing phase…and if we make it off-road we can test out the image stabilization as well!
