How easy is to use an Osmo Mobile smartphone stabilizer?

The Osmo Mobile smartphone stabilizer series are known for their ease of set up and for providing an inexpensive, easy to use way to shoot professional looking videos with just your smartphone. You know the problem we all have with phone videos: they are jittery, lose focus of the subject, etc. Capturing steady always-on-point videos by holding a phone in your hand is not easy. Mount the phone in an Osmo and suddenly a whole world of videography opens up. The gimble and software can keep the subject in the center of the field of view no matter if your hand is shaking or bouncing around. Imagine you are filming a lightning storm from a moving car on a bumpy road; with your smartphone in an Osmo Mobile the image is perfectly stable. It really does all the work; you just hold it in your hand and decide what to shoot.

I am writing this article before the Osmo Mobile 4 launches, so I don’t know what incredible features it will have. I did send one to reviewers for an in-depth article about it; but, the reviews aren’t ready yet (I’ll add a link here as soon as the review goes live). You, however, are reading this contest article just after the launch. So, the first thing you need to do is to go to the product page that also just went live and read about the features of the new Osmo Mobile 4, then come back here and enter the contest.

    Here are the features that I’m most interested in:
    – I like that it uses USB-C to charge.
    – the magnetic phone clamp and magnetic ring holder looks cool and hopefully saves on weight.
    – hpHyperlapse.
    – SpinShot mode.

  4. I like the folding and portability if it. Helps when on the go. Gesture movements cause when you are outside your hands are usually dirty.

  7. Frequently using the OM 3 im excited to try the magnetic quick connect. There has definitely been times with the OM 3 where you want to capture something quickly in the moment but end up fumbling around trying to get your phone in and in the right position.

    The improved active track will be nice to try out as well.

  27. Since we travel.a lot, I am pretty excited to read that it is portable. I would love to try the DJI Mimo app, with its Story Mode features preset camera movements, filters, and soundtracks!! And of course try the dynamic zoom!! It will make our travel experiences easier to capture 🙂

  36. I’d use the Dynamic zoom and the active track to shoot both footage on my new YouTube channel, and to record videos of my child who is starting to be hard to keep up with. (That little guy really can crawl fast!)

    • 15 hours on a single charge? I would like to try to verify that by trying it! It would be great for car meet footage that always comes out shaky and amateurish when I hold my phone with my hands. The dynamic zoom feature would be next to get those cinematic shots! This would be a fun and awesome item to win!

  39. Definitely Dynamic Zoom (for that cinema grade level zoom) and the DJI ActiveTrack 3.0 technology (keeps objects centred and in focus while in motion).

  40. ActiveTrack 3.0 and dynamic zoom. Proper stabilization and a dolly effect is pretty neat. I might just buy one of these!

  42. 15Hrs of battery and dynamic zoom means the concert videos (when we get to do that again) will not be shaky as my arm gets tired during the 3-4 min songs. What fun!

  49. how cool is this! i love the fact that it holds your phone and stablizes since my hands are always shaking, this is a big plus!!!! i alsi like that it comes with preset soundtracks to make home movies from my pictures. simple and easy
