Facebook PortalIn these unprecedented times, it’s more important than ever to keep in touch with your colleagues, friends, family, and loved ones—and Facebook Portal was designed just for that purpose. Like many of us, you’re probably spending the majority of your time at home right now. You might be juggling the kids, the cats, and the dogs while you’re trying to work from home, or perhaps you’re spending your days watching oodles of Netflix and playing the hottest Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One games. (Maybe all of the above?) Enter this contest and, if you win, you’ll be able to spend more time connecting with the people you work with or the people you love: the prize is three Facebook Portal devices.

Face-to-face communications always give you that extra something

Sure, you could send an email. But isn’t it nice to see someone’s face light up when you say hello? That’s backed up by science. One of the world’s foremost experts on human communication, Professor Albert Mehrabian’s famed “7-38-55 rule of personal communication” breaks human interactions down to a general ratio of 7% verbal, 38% tone of voice, and 55% body language. That means your facial expressions, gestures, and other movements can make up more than half of your message!

Facebook Portal keeps you in close contact with your colleagues

Perhaps you’re operating a small office, or you have a few major clients for your freelance gig. Sometimes a giant back-and-forth email thread isn’t the most efficient way to get things done. Whether you’re separated by a few streets—or more than a few time zones, you can stay in touch just like you would in a face-to-face meeting by using Facebook Portal. As long as they’ve got Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp, they can link up for video calls, and you’ll be working like never before.

Facebook Portal is also great for keeping in touch with family and friends

Lots of people love Facebook Portal because they can make live video calls to friends and family, display their photos, and more. With more families and friends in different places around the globe, it’s more important than ever to stay in touch. So pop online just to say hi to your best friend, or read stories to your nieces, nephews, or grandchildren. And when you’re not using the device, Facebook Portal has a feature so it can double as a picture frame to display all your favourite Facebook and Instagram photos. How great is that?

How to enter

Entering this contest is easy, but you can only enter once. First, read our reviews of Facebook Portal and Facebook Portal Mini, and our review of Facebook Portal TV. Then, in a comment on this article, tell us one feature you love about Facebook Portal and who you’ll be keeping in contact with the most.

What you can win

At the end of the contest, we’ll select one winner to receive a Portal bundle that includes one Facebook Portal, one Facebook Portal Mini, and one Facebook Portal TV. Keep one for yourself and send the others to the people you want or need to keep in contact with most.

This contest runs from March 31st to April 16th.

Remember, you can only enter once, but you probably know someone else who would love to see the smiling faces of their colleagues, family, and friends all the time. Let them know about this contest so they too have a chance to win—and make their day!

  1. I like the video calling the most as my family is 5.5 hours away and it seems so easy to use.

  2. I like the secondary function, using it as a picture frame is great! I’d use it to talk to my family and friends overseas.

  3. I like that the screen adapts in brightness and colour to the lighting quality of the room which is great for night time chats. I also like the Story time feature as we are expecting a child in the Spring. We would use it the most to chat with friends and our parents in this stressful time and would be a delight when we have our child for her grandparents to see her every day.

  4. The video calling with my parents whom I usually see daily, that would be amazing. My sons (their grandchildren) miss them so much!

  5. I like how it integrates with pre-existing platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp so I can keep in contact with friends and family during these social distancing times.

  6. I like that you only need WhatsApp to be able to link up (rather than Facebook Messenger). I also like the Story Time feature which enables Portal users to narrate children’s stories with augmented reality effects that dress-up the reader in virtual costumes. During these times of isolation, I’d love to spend more time interacting with my grandson who’s just 2. I miss hugging him!!

  7. My favourite is the portal tv. I like having it on the big screen, and the camera that follows you. It would be mostly used for my kid to call her grandparents.

  8. The video calling would be handy to keep in touch with my mother in BC, as I live in Ontario.

  9. I would use the video calling feature as a great way to keep in touch with my family members out of town and in care home.

  10. I love the video calling – we would use it to keep in touch with the our parents so they can see the kids!

  11. It’s great that the Facebook Portal can video call 7 people at once! Our family and even big group of friends could definitely utilize that when we’re making plans or just simply touching base with one another!

  12. Video Calling is my favorite, would use it to stay connected with family + friends across Canada.

  13. I think that the video calling is great. Would be nice to talk to my friends and family whenever I want to, great for what the world is going through at the moment.

  14. I love the Video Calling feature and I would keep in contact with my Mom and Dad who I don’t see very often due to the distance between us.

  15. Wonderful during this time and trying to think of ways to stay connected. I love the Video call. And also the privacy feature whereby you can slide a little trap door over the camera when you don’t want to be seen. Thanks for the review and the giveaway
