In these unprecedented times, it’s more important than ever to keep in touch with your colleagues, friends, family, and loved ones—and Facebook Portal was designed just for that purpose. Like many of us, you’re probably spending the majority of your time at home right now. You might be juggling the kids, the cats, and the dogs while you’re trying to work from home, or perhaps you’re spending your days watching oodles of Netflix and playing the hottest Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One games. (Maybe all of the above?) Enter this contest and, if you win, you’ll be able to spend more time connecting with the people you work with or the people you love: the prize is three Facebook Portal devices.
Face-to-face communications always give you that extra something
Sure, you could send an email. But isn’t it nice to see someone’s face light up when you say hello? That’s backed up by science. One of the world’s foremost experts on human communication, Professor Albert Mehrabian’s famed “7-38-55 rule of personal communication” breaks human interactions down to a general ratio of 7% verbal, 38% tone of voice, and 55% body language. That means your facial expressions, gestures, and other movements can make up more than half of your message!
Facebook Portal keeps you in close contact with your colleagues
Perhaps you’re operating a small office, or you have a few major clients for your freelance gig. Sometimes a giant back-and-forth email thread isn’t the most efficient way to get things done. Whether you’re separated by a few streets—or more than a few time zones, you can stay in touch just like you would in a face-to-face meeting by using Facebook Portal. As long as they’ve got Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp, they can link up for video calls, and you’ll be working like never before.
Facebook Portal is also great for keeping in touch with family and friends
Lots of people love Facebook Portal because they can make live video calls to friends and family, display their photos, and more. With more families and friends in different places around the globe, it’s more important than ever to stay in touch. So pop online just to say hi to your best friend, or read stories to your nieces, nephews, or grandchildren. And when you’re not using the device, Facebook Portal has a feature so it can double as a picture frame to display all your favourite Facebook and Instagram photos. How great is that?
How to enter
Entering this contest is easy, but you can only enter once. First, read our reviews of Facebook Portal and Facebook Portal Mini, and our review of Facebook Portal TV. Then, in a comment on this article, tell us one feature you love about Facebook Portal and who you’ll be keeping in contact with the most.
What you can win
At the end of the contest, we’ll select one winner to receive a Portal bundle that includes one Facebook Portal, one Facebook Portal Mini, and one Facebook Portal TV. Keep one for yourself and send the others to the people you want or need to keep in contact with most.
This contest runs from March 31st to April 16th.
Remember, you can only enter once, but you probably know someone else who would love to see the smiling faces of their colleagues, family, and friends all the time. Let them know about this contest so they too have a chance to win—and make their day!

I love the extra encryption and I will be keeping in touch with my friends and family
I will want to communicate with my university friends. Extra encryption is a great feature.
My Nanny and Grampy just set one of these up and it has changed their lives. Being able to see them, especially in a world where they are unable to have visitors makes me feel like I am there with them. Being able to connect with the portal is the next best thing to giving the ones you love a hug.
This is such a great idea, and would be an amazing tool to have during this time of social isolation. My favorite features of the portal are that Alexa is already built in (love smart tools!) and the privacy options. Call me paranoid but I am one of those people who always puts a tacky sticky note over the camera when not in use. These thoughtful details like the ability to cover the camera or turn off the mic make it look sleek while still allowing the privacy I enjoy 🙂
I like how it prioritizes the user’s privacy, enabling the user to close a little door over the camera which disables the mic at the same time
Built in smart camera and microphone that allows for conversation as you move about the room and do what you need to. I’d use it to communicate with friends and family (both biological and army) that have been spread around the world.
I like the built in Smart Camera because I’m a shutter bug, when not scrolling Facebook!
I’d reach out to my parents on the east coast the most.
As a mother and grandmother I would definitely love the camera video chat and also the privacy.
I love the video chat and I will keep in contact with my family outside of Canada.
I like that it is easy for seniors.
Video call
One feature I love about Facebook Portal is their privacy little trap door which also disables the mic and I’d be keeping in contact with the my coworker/friends the most.
Extra encryption
As a senior I love that it so easy to video chat with family. I would use it to keep in contact with my daughter and grandson, now that they can’t come to visit me. It would be wonderful to see them as we chat.
A great feature is that the Portal TV also includes both a Smart Camera and Smart Sound. I will be in touch with my daughter.
Easy to make live video calls to your family!
Love the video call feature and I would keep in touch with my son who lives in a different province.
I love the Extra encryption and I will be keeping in touch with my family
The video call feature to keep in contact family
I love the fact that it becomes a digital photo album when not in active use!
I love the idea that a built-in smart camera and microphone setup adapts to my location in the room. I would use this to keep in touch with my little grandbabies who are in another province!
I like the little trap door over the camera when I don’t want to be seen or heard. I would try and call my parents with this.
I’ve already been having many messenger chats with my friends so I would use this to call all of them. My favorite feature is that the camera follows my movements and zooms in on me.
I love the built in camera and it would be wonderful so i could keep in touch with my Dad.
I like how Alexa is built in. I would use it to keep in contact with my friends
I like that it’s easy for seniors and I’d use it with my dad – especially now as he’s on his own and we’re far away from each other.
What I like is the built-in smart camera & microphone setup. Such innovative technology having it adapt to your location in the room where the camera follows you & the audio adjusts accordingly. Love it!
I love the Extra encryption
Extra encryption. I’ll be communicating with loved ones around the world, can’t wait!
I like the extra layer of encryption. Communicating with loved ones should feel safe and this device offers that safety.
The Story Time feature sounds like fun. We would mostly use these for our daughters to keep in touch with their cousins. they love calling each other on facebook messenger, especially right now when they can’t get together to play.
I love its easy for seniors. We’d give one to my mom and one to my aunt. Thanks,
I would love to use it daily and call to my family in Ukraine. Amazing device/
The feature that I love about the Facebook portal is the Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant built-in.
I would use the most with my sister.
Easy for seniors. Would I’m use to talk to my parents.
I like the fact that it is easy for seniors. My parents are 87 and 88 and before the self isolation started I brought them my tablet and showed them how to use messenger so we could all keep in touch. They find it very difficult to use so this would be perfect for them. They have a new great granddaughter and would love to see her with this. It’s very hard on them being isolated from the family even though we call and go over to talk outside the door. This would be so much better. Thanks for the chance!
I love the dedicated device as I talk often with my children and grandchildren now with social isolation and all……and I’d get a better image of what they are doing on something bigger than my phone, which I currently use. Thanks for the chance.
Easy for my parents to keep in touch with my sister who lives in the UK and can’t visit. They don’t use FB but they do have WhatsApp, perfect.
Would be very useful to connect with family now that we’re locked in for a while!
Definitely be used to keep in touch with my family.
This would be wonderful I met my sister years ago and we don’t live in the same province so it’s difficult to see eachother. With this my kid could talk to her aunty so much easier!
To keep in touch with my mom who is abroad and alone
Would make making video calls super easy. I would use this to mostly talk to friends
Competition for Zoom…easy to use.
I would love to use this with my daughter who lives away at uni – it would be so good and easier to have at each place. Tho I must say I have been thinking about a bulk buy for each family member of my Mom’s – less complicated for them to use when is a crazy good benefit. Wish I had done it earlier – before this COVID crud started.

I like that I can have up to 7 people on the call with Facebook Messenger. That would be wonderful as I have moved across the country and it would let me keep up with my friends.
OMG this would be perfect for keeping in touch with my family. Love the idea of having multiple people on all at once this would be wonderful to have especially since right now not able to visit, would be the next best thing. Good luck everyone
I haven’t seen my mom in 4 weeks since the confinement. This would make it easy to see her!!
I like that i can see, hear and speak to my family from BC, Asia and UK with this faccebook portal.
To stay in touch with family during the co-vid pandemic would be great!
So easy to use even for seniors with little computer experience.
