Arlo security cameras can help make any home more secure, whether you are home or away from home. The peace of mind you get while you are sleeping is nothing compared to the calm you feel while on holidays, still able to see your home with the app on your phone or tablet. They are a versatile and reliable way to be aware of everything happening near your home. This is especially true of the Arlo camera bundles, like the Essential bundle we are giving away in this contest. Learn more about how this bundle is essential for travellers, then enter for a chance to win one.

Why prowlers don’t like Arlo cameras

Last week, a neighbour posted on our community Facebook page that he had a prowler on his property the previous night. His dog was “yapping like crazy” he said and he saw the back of a dark figure running down his driveway. He had no idea who it was and could not give much of a description. I’m sure this particular prowler didn’t like that this property had a dog. However, they would have really hated if it had Arlo cameras capturing a crystal clear picture on video that could be instantly shared with neighbours and with the police.

The Arlo Essential camera bundle we are giving away gives better security than a dog for many reasons. A dog might bark, which might potentially scare off an intruder (but not always since brazen thieves might not care if a dog is inside the house). However, when the camera suddenly illuminates the area, the natural first thing to do is to look into the light. At that instant the thief knows they have been captured on video, and that video has already been sent to the cloud. There is nothing they can do at that point. Another reason that this bundle is better than a dog is because it comes with four cameras, for equally strong security coverage at multiple sites in or around your home. Lastly, this security is equally strong even if you and your dog are not home. While you are on holidays, your dog may be with a friend or family member. Your cameras, however, are placed at essential locations around your home: they’re wireless so you will move them around as you please inside and outside your home. You can access the footage, and share clear HD video of nasty prowlers, no matter where you are in the world.

Rethink what is essential for your next trip so you don’t forget anything

Forgetting is normal, it’s human—but it’s also frustrating! Preparation is the key to a vacation with everything essential taken care of. Will you be travelling somewhere this spring or summer? Check out our travel buying guide well before you leave to help you prepare. Our intention was to make it broad enough so that it could help as many people as possible. That article has five sections to help you focus on the many things you might want to consider before your next trip. You’ll noticed, that the last section is about home security: often this is the last thing people think about. Hopefully one lasting impact you get from entering this contest, whether you win the Arlo Essential camera bundle prize or not, is that you take care of home security well before your next trip.

  1. Oh man easy decision, Arlo home security. Hands down , I work out of town a lot and I have a dog and a doorbell camera and well neither provide any sense of security. My dog doesn’t bark and in 1 way that’s a good thing . I also have acces to my backyard through lane access. Arlo would let a guy like me sleep better at night knowing my home and family are watched closely by me ,

  2. I’d like to have both the guard dog and an arlo camera system so I could see the dog keeping the birds from pooping on my car every single day!

  3. Definitely both!! A guarD DOG and an ARLO camera system. The more Layers of security you add the better, and both have advantages.

  4. It’s surprising how often people forget to pack spare batteries and power adapters when preparing for a trip, yet these two items are vital for keeping electronic devices functional while on the go. Whether you need to charge your phone, laptop, or camera, having the right adapters and batteries at hand can make a huge difference in your travel experience. So, don’t overlook these essential items when packing, as they can save you from the inconvenience of a dead battery or a device that won’t turn on when you need it the most.

  5. When it comes to home security, I personally favor Arlo camera systems. These advanced devices ensure uninterrupted monitoring and allow remote access to the footage, providing homeowners with a great sense of reassurance. Compared to having a guard dog, Arlo cameras require significantly less upkeep and are more discreet in everyday living situations.

    • I would like to have both. I would love to have the cameras because they would be able to record and save. The dog would be for companionship.

  6. Since it happened to me, I think people tend to forget a travel adapter and power bank most often.

  7. two essential things that I think most people tend to forget before going on a trip are: A power bank back up battery system. People underestimate how many pictures you take while on vacation and how your phone is constantly roaming… this kills your battery fast. Also a travel power converter. Many people just presume that their devices will work wherever they go… they often do not…. plan ahead!

  8. Between a guard dog, an Arlo camera system, I would prefer to have an Arlo camera. Unlike dogs, they don’t eat your shoes and poop in your bed. The truth is: The mere sight of a camera on the house is more of a deterrent then a dog… We all have learned in movies that a well laced steak can defeat the dog… not a camera system.

  9. I would like an Arlo Camera. Yesterday, I saw my motion detector light go off late at night and finally was able to spot what set it off. I think it was a groundhog or one of its relatives. It would be fun to record what little creatures are making their way in the backyard. Also the camera would hopefully discourage thieves. A guard dog is just too much work.

  10. One essential thing is a power supply that works in multiple countries with different voltages and different frequencies (i.e., 50 cycles per second vs 60). A second essential thing is pickpocket or tamper resistant (as well as water resistant) bags to carry your wallet, money, passport etc. so minimize the risk of loss and damage.

  11. Although a guard dog is a great deterrent, they are not “maintenance free” so I would prefer Arlo cameras.

  12. neck pillow, travel power adapter, unlocked cellphone all great to take…
I’d prefer the Arlo Cameras because you don’t have to feed them.
It would be a great home security system!

  13. Unlocked cell phone and Travel power adapter are definitely things people forget before going on a trip

  14. Both! My dog is good at alerting and sensing someone is around. A camera would be great to being able to get a good video/picture of who is around.

  15. People use a luggage scale to weigh their bags but then forget to pack it so they can use it on the way home. A memory card for the camera is probably something forgotten quite a bit, as well.

  16. Both a guard dog and the Arlo cameras would be preferable to me for security purposes but I’m not about to go and get a dog just for that purpose so I’ll just stick with the Arlo cameras.

  17. Two essential things mentioned in the buying guide that i think most people tend to forget before going on a trip travel is power adapter and a power bank.

  18. I would rather have arlo camera system for a better security coverage at multiples sites in or around home & also because you can access the footage everywhere .
