Have you considered making your garage smart using a Chamberlain Garage Door Opener? Perhaps you are like Matt who recently reviewed the new MyQ Garage Door Opener on the blog. He did a detailed installation video and discusses each step involved and shows all of the great features of this door opener. At the end of his post, he laments not having added one of these sooner for the convenience and safety it offers. Read on to learn more, then enter for a chance to make your garage smart with Chamberlain.

What are the advantages of a smart garage door opener

The term “smart” is often applied to devices we can control in several ways, including using an app on our phones. So the first advantage of the Chamberlain MyQ garage door opener is that you don’t need to look around for the remote to open the garage: your phone is always with you so you always can control the door. Share the app with members of your family and they always have the ability to get into the garage. Also the app is secure: likely much more secure than a keypad controller.

Smart devices also often have unique features built in to add convenience. The Chamberlain MyQ app will show if the door is open or closed. This is a nice feature if you left home and forgot to close it. Even better, the Chamberlain Garage Door opener has a camera. Imagine that you left home, notice on the app that the door is still open and want to close it. However, you know it’s not safe to close the door without checking that it’s safe. With the camera, you can watch it within the app as it closes, knowing 100% that nothing, and no adult or child, will be harmed.

Installing a smart device at this time of year makes perfect sense

Fall is the best season to install smart devices for several reasons. For most of us, travel season is over, the kids are in school and back into their regular sports practices, weekend games, piano lessons, and homework, homework, homework. You are running around from one location to another and will easily forget to lock doors or close the garage as you leave. These are the times when thieves thrive. But a smart home is a more secure home. A thieves worst nightmare. Cameras capture their images; smart lights scare them off; smart doors keep them out!

And most smart devices are quick and easy to install. Admittedly, there is a range of difficulty levels and a smart garage door opener is on the more complicated side of that range. In his review article and video, Matt explains the entire process. He didn’t do this alone, and you should consider asking a friend to help too. Follow the steps and you will soon have the garage door opener that homeowners dream of! Here is Matt’s video. Watch it, then return to this article to enter the contest for your chance to win one.

  1. I have lost count of the number of smart devices. We run the gambit from smart lights, smart light switches in-wall plugs, plug-in outlets, smart thermostat, voice assistant devices, connected air purifiers. Would be great to add the garage door to the list… LOL…. Although I am glad Matter has been released, as I think it is time to “reset” the house and reconnect all the gadgets in a more logical way… Hopefully they will all update to Matter supported.

Being able to control everything with my voice is the best feature.

  2. I have one smart device in my home. The biggest advantage of having a smart device is wireless connectivity.

  3. We have no smart devices, but we returned from an outing today to find that I had left the garage door open, so being able to tell if it is closed would be useful.

  4. I have smart lightbulbs, TV, speakers, google assistant, I find they make life easier or is it me lazier?

  5. I have smart lightbulbs, a smart TV, smart speakers, several AI assistant devices (google home), a smart thermostat, and several smart outlets. All together I have 22 smart devices. The key benefit is I can access every single one of them from anywhere in the world, at a moments notice, and from a single device or I can set up timers for their operation.

  6. I have four smart devices in my home. The biggest advantage with them is being able to sychonize things like calendars so the the entire family is on the same page when it comes to appointments and events

  7. We do not have any smart devices . I love you do not need a remote to open the door-we share cars and often the remote is in the other car

  8. We have three smart devices in our home. The ability to monitor these devices when away from home brings a sense of peace to our lives.

  9. There are approximately four smart devices in our home. One of the biggest advantages of Google is that you can ask questions when discussing a topic with someone. It usually proves the point or teaches one or both of us something.

  10. I personally don’t have any smart devices but this garage door opener is in the home that I’m renting and I love that you can just look on the app on your phone to make sure you closed the door when you left, and if you didn’t, you can close it remotely

  11. Currently zero – this smart garage door door opener sounds amazing! The app will tell me if the door is open or closed – no more driving back home to check

  12. We only have one smart device or at least I think it’s smart. We can remotely view and record the live security footage of another location that we have installed 6 cameras.

  13. Zero right now but a smart garage door opener would be convenient if you thought you didn’t put it down while away travelling

  14. I love the Chamberlain’s Cloud feature with a log of door openings, great for security and peace of mind!

  15. we have 4 smart devices and I love being able to adjust the temperature for instance and check on the house while away from it

  16. It features a quiet DC motor to remotely open or shut the garage door.
Fav. feature: a range of 457 meters for remotely opening and shutting the garage door

  17. I have so many smart devices in my home, but here are some examples. Ecobee thermostat, 3 nest protects, 3 google home, nest hello doorbell, 3 indoor nest cameras, 2 tplink switches, 3 tplink plugs, Google Chromecast, Nvidia Shield, Sony smart TV and a few globe light bulbs. My goal is to eventually have everything I can as a smart device. I love the way you can monitor it from your phone no matter where you are.

  18. I have one smart device in my home and it helps make things easier and more convenient. I could definitely use some more smart devices like this garage door opener. Thanks for the chance!
