camping stove.jpgI always find it really hard to pick a gift for my dad. He’s at an age where he kind of owns everything he wants and if he is missing something, he just buys it himself! So when it comes to Father’s Day, I try to get my dad something that he would never buy himself or some sort of new tech that he doesn’t even know he wants!

For the camper:

  1. Biolite Campstove 1-Burner Wood/Biomass Charging Camping Stove

This genius device deals with two of my biggest camping fears: not being able to cook food and not being able to charge my phone. This stove runs on biomass, which is a fancy word for sticks and twigs, that creates smoke-free, hyper-efficient flames. At the highest setting it can boil a liter of water in less than 5 mins. The heat created is also converted into electricity that powers the internal battery that can charge your devices via USB cable. With most smartphones, 20 minutes of charging gives you an hour of talk time. The electricity created also powers a fan that increases the efficiency of the fire. It weighs only 2 pounds and is the size of a Nalgene water bottle so it is easy to transport. ErinYYC recently had the opportunity to try this stove, check out her thoughts here.

  1. Eton Rugged Rukus All-Terrain Solar-Powered Bluetooth Speaker

speaker.jpgThis wireless speaker is perfect for camping or hiking. This speaker has 2 full-range speaker drivers and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to give you crisp, clear sound and you can wireless connect your device via Bluetooth. This device has a 6.5-volt solar panel that generates power from the sun but I like that it also has an internal lithium battery with 8 hours of battery life so you don’t have to fully rely on solar power. The USB port also means that you can also draw from this power to charge your devices.

  1. OKO Odyssey 650ml 6-in-1 Filtration Water Bottle

water bottle.jpgIt’s important to know that you have a consistent source of clean water when camping or hiking in the back country. In addition to being a water filtration system, this bottle also doubles as a food storage canister, flashlight, lantern and emergency beacon. As if you didn’t need more functionality, there is a compartment at the bottom of the bottle for keeping important items, like house keys, and the lid of the compartment can also be used as a cup. There is also a clip that allows you to attach it to your pack rather than wasting space in your bag.

  1. World Famous Swivel Chair with Speakers

camping chair.jpgThis is a camping chair with a twist. This chair is made from a durable steel frame and it has a swivel base so you can turn in the chair without having to turn it around (because we all know that we are way too lazy to do that). The seat itself is made from polyester and has padding on the back for added comfort, but also has an amplifier and connector within the seat so you can attach your device and play music.

For the athlete:

  1. Iron Body Fitness Acupoint Foam Roller

foam roller.jpgIf your dad does a lot of running, biking or even golf, he can most likely benefit from a foam roller. The iron body roller has a stiff design that will support his body weight and the pyramid shapes along the roller will help to relax and stretch muscles.

  1. Gold’s Gym XRS 20 Olympic Bench

workout bench.jpg

This versatile workout bench is perfect for any home gym. The bench can be adjusted to the decline, incline or flat position and the preacher pad on the front of the bench will help get proper form in bicep and forearm exercises. Lastly, the leg developer helps target and strengthen quads, glutes and hamstrings. If he is need of some inspiration or guidance, the workout bench comes with a step-by-step exercise chart.

  1. Reel Sonar iBobber Bluetooth Castable Fish Finder

ibobber.jpgThe iBobber will help your dad find all the fish he’s been hoping for! This device uses a sonar that can detect fish up to 135 ft. under water and displays the results on the free downloadable app. The app also maps waterbed contours, tells you the water temperature and lets you save your favorite fishing hotspots via GPS. There is also a trip log that lets you record details of your trip including the location you fished, the conditions, the lure and the number of fish caught. The rechargeable battery gives you 8 hours of fishing time between charges.

  1. Bushline Aparaho Fishing Vest

fishing vest.jpgWith 10 pockets and tons of accessory loops, this vest is guaranteed to hold all the things your dad needs for a great day fishing.  It is made of a cool, fast drying fabric and the unique design means that it can be worn over lifejackets. It also has a large fishing net attachment in the back so that your net is accessible when you need it.

For the homebody:

  1. Napolean Triumph 50,000 BTU 5-Burner Propane BBQ

BBQ.jpg

This is a great gift to split between siblings and it’s sure to surprise pops! This huge bbq has a 665-inch cooking grill that can cook up to 30 burgers at a time, making it perfect for feeding the whole family. It has five burners under porcelainized cast iron cooking grids that can be adjusted for optimal cooking temperatures. The Jetfire ignition system makes it easy to start and the foldable side shelves make it perfect for those with a smaller deck and for winter storage.

  1. Tandem Whiskey Tumblers with Whiskey Stones

whiskey glasses.jpgUpdate your dad’s bar with some new whiskey glasses. This pair of understated glasses are perfect for just about any style of bar, and I love that this set also comes with whiskey stones. For those of you that don’t drink whiskey, whiskey stones are a great alterative to ice cubes if you like your whiskey chilled because they won’t melt and dilute the whiskey with water. The set also comes with canvas storage bag when the glasses aren’t in use.

Though dads are hard to buy for, there is always something cool and thoughtful you can surprise your dad with. If he loves camping, upgrade his gear with solar powered equipment. If he’s an athlete, get him some new equipment for his home gym or tech-based fishing supplies. If he’d rather stay at home, spoil him with a new bbq or high-quality whiskey glasses. But most important of all, let him know how much you love him and how much he means to you!

Happy Father’s Day!
